Kings' Cameron Gaunce: Released from PTO
Gaunce was released from his professional tryout agreement with the Kings on Saturday and will report to AHL Ontario, Jon Rosen of Fox Sports West reports.
Gaunce will likely have to settle for an AHL-only deal for the 2021-22 campaign. The 31-year-old blueliner picked up 13 points in 24 games with AHL Ontario last season.

Gaunce will join the Kings for camp on a professional tryout agreement, John Hoven of SiriusXM NHL Network Radio reports.
Gaunce logged just three games for the Lightning last season in which he tallied one goal, three assists and five shots. The 31-year-old blueliner shouldn't be expected to see much in the way of minutes with Los Angeles if he does earn a two-way deal and more likely will spend the year in the minors with AHL Ontario.

The Lightning signed Zach Bogosian to a one-year deal Sunday, so they're no longer in need of Gaunce's services on the blue line. The 29-year-old Canadian will likely stick with Syracuse for the remainder of the campaign.

Gaunce was in the lineup due to Braydon Coburn (undisclosed) being unavailable. The former made the most of his chance by netting his first goal since 2016-17. The 29-year-old Gaunce has a goal and an assist through two appearances but isn't likely to keep up that pace for long. He'll serve as defensive depth more often than not, but the Lightning are currently missing three regular defensemen.
