  • Red Wings' John Gibson: Bounces back with strong outing

Gibson turned aside 23 of 24 shots on net in Wednesday's 2-1 win over the Jets. Gibson turned in a fantastic performance in Wednesday's contest, as he didn't allow a goal until the 47-minute mark while Detroit's offense had already scored two goals. With the win, he is up to a 13-8-1 record with a 2.97 GAA and an .893 save percentage through 23 outings this season. After losing his first game in nine tries in his last appearance, the win brings him up to a 9-1-0 record with a 2.21 GAA and a .925 save percentage over his last 10 starts. During that stretch, he allowed two goals or less exactly half of those starts, which includes two shutouts. The Red Wings currently hold a two-point lead over the rest of the Atlantic Division and have shown no signs of slowing down. With Gibson commanding the bulk of the team's starts, he could be in for one of the best seasons of his career, making him a top waiver-wire add in a solid chunk of fantasy formats.

  • Red Wings' John Gibson: First loss in last nine starts

Gibson made 33 saves in a 5-2 loss to Carolina on Saturday. He allowed four goals, with Carolina's final marker coming on an empty net. Gibson's personal eight-game winning streak ended Saturday. The Canes are one of the NHL's top goal-scoring teams, and they turned up the heat. Still, Gibson had been dominant in December, running up an 8-0-0 record with two shutouts and a .927 save percentage prior to Saturday. He looks a bit like the netminder he was eight-to-10 years ago, but we don't know if we should say that out loud. Still, there's a chance Gibson is back.

Gibson stopped 16 of 18 shots on net in Tuesday's 3-2 win over the Islanders. After going 0-4-1 across six games in November, Gibson has completely flipped the switch in December, where he is 6-0-0 with a 2.00 GAA and a .935 save percentage in six games. With the Red Wings surging as a team, Gibson has elevated his own performances and is one of the best streaming options across all fantasy formats amidst his win streak. While Cam Talbot will likely receive the nod in Wednesday's home game against Utah in the second half of a back-to-back, Gibson has a solid chance to start Saturday in Washington.

  • Red Wings' John Gibson: Posts second shutout of season

Gibson recorded a 26-save shutout in Saturday's 4-0 win over the Blackhawks. Gibson has all the momentum in the Red Wings' crease -- he's won five straight games, two via shutout. He's allowed 10 goals on 167 shots in that span. It took some time for Gibson to get on track, and he hasn't exactly faced juggernaut offenses during his heater, but the run is helping his confidence. The 32-year-old is up to 9-7-1 with a 3.13 GAA and an .890 save percentage over 18 starts this season. Gibson figures to start twice in the next week as the Red Wings have a pair of back-to-back sets coming up, beginning with a home sequence that sees them host the Islanders on Tuesday and the Mammoth on Wednesday.

  • Red Wings' John Gibson: Posts shutout Monday

Gibson recorded a 39-save shutout in Monday's 4-0 win over the Canucks. Gibson has won three straight outings, and Monday's effort was his best of the year, albeit against a slumping Canucks team. The 32-year-old's recent success could help him claw back some playing time from Cam Talbot, as the two looked to be in a timeshare as recently as last week. Gibson is now 7-7-1 with a 3.34 GAA and an .881 save percentage through 16 appearances, so he can still be tough to trust in fantasy. That said, he has a favorable matchup ahead if he gets the start Wednesday in Calgary rather than Thursday in Edmonton.

  • Red Wings' John Gibson: Allows three goals in win

Gibson stopped 24 of 27 shots in Saturday's 4-3 win over the Kraken. It was a back-and-forth game, and Patrick Kane's tally late in the third period was what made Gibson a winner. While he's allowed 22 goals over his last five games, Gibson has won two straight starts. He has alternated starts over the past week-plus with Cam Talbot, which is likely the best arrangement for both of them to stay productive. Gibson is 6-7-1 with a 3.58 GAA and an .869 save percentage over 15 starts this season. If the goaltending pattern holds, Talbot would play Monday in Vancouver while Gibson would get the nod Wednesday in Calgary in the first half of a back-to-back.

  • Red Wings' John Gibson: In goal Tuesday

Gibson will be between the home pipes Tuesday versus the Bruins, according to Ted Kulfan of The Detroit News.
