  • Senators' Morgan Klimchuk: Re-ups with club

Klimchuk signed a one-year, two-way contract with Ottawa on Thursday.

Klimchuk was traded twice during the 2018-19 season, but he was still unable to break into the NHL. The winger played for AHL Stockton, Toronto and Belleville, between which he tallied nine goals, six helpers and 33 PIM in 38 appearances. Drafted by the Flames with the 28th overall pick in the 2013 NHL Draft, the 24-year-old has only managed to break into one NHL game. Klimchuk will likely continue to split his time between leagues for the upcoming campaign.

  • Senators' Morgan Klimchuk: Dealt to Ottawa

Klimchuk was traded from Toronto to Ottawa in exchange for forward Gabriel Gagne on Friday.

Klimchuck wasn't likely to get a chance in Toronto anytime soon, given that the Maple Leafs are genuine Stanley Cup contenders and the 23-year-old has struggled this year in the AHL with just 10 points in 30 games. He'll be much more likely to get a chance with rebuilding Ottawa, though his immediate future is with AHL Belleville. He's only worth a look in the deepest of dynasty leagues right now, as the Senators are nowhere near contending and can afford to be patient with him.

  • Maple Leafs' Morgan Klimchuk: Heads to Toronto

The Flames traded Klimchuk to the Maple Leafs in exchange for Andrew Nielsen on Tuesday.

Klimchuk was drafted by the Flames in the first round (28th overall) of the 2013 NHL Draft, but he's played just one NHL game. He reached 40 points in each of the previous two AHL seasons and has eight points in 16 minor-league games this year. The 23-year-old will look to reach his full potential with a change of scenery, although he'll likely start in AHL Toronto.

  • Flames' Morgan Klimchuk: Waived in procedural move

Klimchuk was waived by the Flames on Wednesday, TSN reports.

Calgary's 2013 first-round (28th overall) pick being placed on waivers might seem like a devastating setback in the eyes of a casual hockey fan, but it's likely not all doom-and-gloom for Klimchuk. Assuming the prospect clears waivers, he'll be assigned to AHL Stockton, where he'll be able to develop at his own pace and assume a substantial amount of playing time. The Saskatchewan native has recorded 83 points (38 goals, 45 assists) over 128 games for the Heat over the past two seasons combined.

  • Flames' Morgan Klimchuk: Sent back to AHL

Klimchuk was reassigned to AHL Stockton on Tuesday, Aaron Vickers of NHL.com reports.

Klimchuk saw just 7:25 of ice time in his NHL debut Monday, recording a hit but nothing else of note in the box score. The 2013 first-round pick finally appears to be putting things together at the AHL level, racking up 27 points (13 goals, 14 assists) over 44 games this season. If the 22-year-old continues to produce for the Heat, he could be in Calgary's camp next year in a battle for a roster spot.

  • Flames' Morgan Klimchuk: Set to make debut

Klimchuk is in line to make his NHL debut Monday against the Bruins, Pat Steinberg of Sportsnet 960 reports.

The expectation is that Ryan Lomberg will be the odd man out to allow Klimchuk to show what he can do with the Flames. The 22-year-old has impressed in the AHL this season, tallying 13 goals and 14 assists in 44 games before getting the call.

  • Flames' Morgan Klimchuk: Added to NHL roster

Klimchuk was recalled from AHL Stockton on Saturday.

It's always exciting when a franchise decides to promote a highly touted prospect. Klimchuk was nabbed by Calgary 28th overall in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft, and he patiently awaited his call-up to the big stage as a member of the AHL's Heat, where he crafted 35 goals, 44 assists and a plus-14 rating 169 contests. Marek Hrivik (undisclosed) was placed on injured reserve Saturday, hence the call-up for Klimchuk, who may get a chance to draw into Saturday's home game against the Panthers.
