Panthers' Sam Bennett: Staying with champs
Bennett signed an eight-year, $64 million contract with the Panthers on Friday, Tim Reynolds of The Associated Press reports.
Bennett put together a career year as he played for a new contract, earning 25 goals and 51 points in 76 regular-season games. That alone doesn't justify the salary, but Bennett's 22-point effort in 22 playoff games bumps him up a level and was clearly enough for Florida to be interested in keeping him as part of a core that has won back-to-back Stanley Cup titles. Bennett is locked in as a second-line center and a member of the second power-play unit for years to come, and his fantasy profile as a hard-hitting scoring forward gives him mid-round appeal in all formats.

Panthers' Sam Bennett: Takes home Cup and Conn Smythe
Bennett was named the Conn Smythe trophy winner Tuesday after Florida clinched the Stanley Cup in a 5-1 win over Edmonton in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Finals.
Bennett put up 15 goals and 22 points in 22 games this postseason. Five of those snipes came in six games against Edmonton. Bennett is a prototypical playoff and big-game performer. That doesn't always translate into fantasy value in the regular season, though -- his best season came this year with 25 goals, 26 assists, 90 PIM and 241 shots. Still, it's a massive accomplishment for Bennett.

Panthers' Sam Bennett: Extends streaks with goal
Bennett scored a goal on three shots, doled out four hits and blocked two shots in Saturday's 5-2 win over the Oilers in Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Finals.
Bennett has a six-game point streak (six goals, two assists), and he's gotten on the scoresheet in nine of his last 10 contests. His tally Saturday put the Panthers ahead 2-0 late in the first period. Bennett leads the league with 15 goals this postseason, and he's added seven assists, 66 shots on net, 103 hits, 46 PIM and a plus-6 rating over 22 appearances. Should the Panthers win the Stanley Cup, Bennett will finish at or near the top of the list for the Conn Smythe Trophy as the playoff MVP.

Panthers' Sam Bennett: Two points Wednesday
Bennett scored an empty-net goal on five shots, added an assist, logged two PIM, doled out for hits and went plus-2 in Wednesday's 5-3 win over the Hurricanes in Game 5.
Bennett filled the stat sheet in this contest. The 28-year-old also took a late penalty with the Panthers leading by a goal, but his teammates killed it off and he made up for the misdeed by finishing off the win with the empty-netter. Bennett has four goals and three assists in the Eastern Conference Finals, putting him at 10 goals, six helpers, 51 shots, 86 hits, 26 PIM and a plus-2 rating across 17 playoff outings. His 16 points have him tied for second on the Panthers this postseason, even with Matthew Tkachuk and one behind Aleksander Barkov for the team lead.
