  • Flyers' Dan Vladar: Surrenders seven goals in opener

Vladar allowed seven goals on 38 shots on net in Wednesday's Opening Night loss to the Penguins.

While Vladar struggled against the high volume of shot attempts that Pittsburgh generated, the 29-year-old backstop was dealing with an upper-body injury during his ramp-up to Opening Night. Regardless, his performance Wednesday was in stark contrast to what he accomplished in 2025-26, where he posted a 29-14-7 record, a 2.42 GAA and a .906 save percentage across 52 regular-season appearances. Between last year's numbers all being career highs and the Flyers bringing in Joseph Woll to take on some of the workload between the pipes, Vladar could be due for slight regression in 2026-27. However, his expected share of opportunities keeps him as a low-end No. 2 goalie option in fantasy for the time being.

  • Flyers' Dan Vladar: Guarding home goal

Vladar is expected to start at home against Pittsburgh on Thursday, per Jordan Hall of NBC Sports Philadelphia.

Vladar is getting the assignment in the Flyers' season opener after posting a 29-14-7 record, 2.42 GAA and .906 save percentage in 52 regular-season appearances in 2025-26. He was very effective against the Penguins in the first round of the 2026 playoffs, going 4-2 with a 1.61 GAA and a .937 save percentage in six outings, so he'll naturally be looking to extend that success. Pittsburgh is still a strong adversary, though the Penguins will be missing one of their top forwards in Bryan Rust, who is on injured reserve due to an upper-body injury.

  • Flyers' Dan Vladar: Cleared for Opening Night

Vladar (upper body) has been cleared to play in Wednesday's Opening Night contest against the Penguins, per Jordan Hall of NBC Sports Philadelphia.

Vladar has been trending towards being available for the Flyers' season opener, and he confirmed that he'll be available for Wednesday's playoff rematch with the Penguins. The 29-year-old backstop had a breakout season in 2025-26, where he posted a 29-14-7 record, a 2.42 GAA and a .906 save percentage across 52 regular-season outings. It remains to be seen whether Vladar or Joseph Woll will get the start Wednesday. However, Vladar dominated against Pittsburgh in the postseason, compiling a 4-2-0 record, a 1.61 GAA and a .937 save percentage, so he could be in for a successful fantasy outing if the Flyers elect to roll with him over Woll.

  • Flyers' Dan Vladar: On track to be ready for season opener

Vladar (upper body) was a full participant in Sunday's practice and is on track to be ready for the Flyers' regular-season opener against the Penguins on Wednesday, Jackie Spiegel of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Regarding Vladar's status, head coach Rick Tocchet said, "I wouldn't say he's 100 percent, but he's very hopeful. Pretty spirited practice, and he made it through; he seemed like he looked good to me. So we'll see." General manager Danny Briere also said Saturday that Vladar should be ready for Wednesday's regular-season opener. Furthermore, the Flyers loaned netminder Aleksei Kolosov to AHL Lehigh Valley on Sunday, which is another indication that the Flyers aren't overly concerned with Vladar's availability for Wednesday. For now, though, Vladar should still be considered day-to-day until there is official word that he is good to go.

  • Flyers' Dan Vladar: Listed as day-to-day

Vladar is day-to-day because of an upper-body injury, Jackie Spiegel of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports Wednesday.

Vladar left Tuesday's preseason game due to the injury. While that's obviously less than ideal, his status isn't nearly as bleak as it could have been. "I think we dodged a bullet," head coach Rick Tocchet said. Vladar is set to be the Flyers' No. 1 goaltender this campaign, while Joseph Woll is penciled in to serve as his understudy.

  • Flyers' Dan Vladar: Leaves game early

Vladar (upper body) won't return to Tuesday's preseason game versus the Bruins.

Vladar appeared to injure his arm or shoulder on the Bruins' first goal of the game. The 29-year-old's status will be up in the air until the Flyers provide an additional update. Vladar is the presumptive starter in goal for Philadelphia this year, but if he misses time, Joseph Woll would see a larger share of playing time.

  • Flyers' Dan Vladar: Patrolling road crease Tuesday

Vladar will start on the road against Boston for Tuesday's preseason contest, per Jordan Hall of NBC Sports Philadelphia.

Head coach Rick Tocchet stated that Vladar will play in the first two periods of Tuesday's clash before Aleksei Kolosov tends the road crease in the third. Vladar is coming off a career year in 2025-26, where he exploded for a 29-14-7 record, a 2.42 GAA and a .906 save percentage across 52 regular-season outings. He has provided stability to Philadelphia's crease, and the team invested in a quality backup option in Joseph Woll to fill the gaps when Vladar needs rest. The 29-year-old Vladar might have peaked late, but he remains a solid fantasy option in all formats heading into the 2026-27 campaign.

  • Flyers' Dan Vladar: Re-signs with club

Vladar inked a five-year, $27.5 million contract with Philadelphia on Wednesday, per agent Dan Milstein.

Vladar logged 52 regular-season games for the Flyers in 2025-26, posting a 29-14-7 record and a career-best 2.42 GAA. The 28-year-old backstop appears to finally be the solution to Philly's problem between the pipes, though that has been said in the past of netminders coming off a good first year with the team. Still, he should be the clear No. 1 option heading into 2026-27 and could see upward of 60 games.

  • Flyers' Dan Vladar: Ends season in impressive fashion

Vladar made 37 saves Saturday in a 3-2 overtime loss to Carolina in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference second round.

Vladar was the game's third star -- he was absolutely pelted with pucks. Yes, the Canes swept the Flyers in four, but not because of Vladar -- his mates managed only five goals in those four games. The 2025-26 campaign was the season of Vladar. The former member of the Flames went 29-14-7 with a 2.42 GAA and .906 save percentage in 51 starts this past regular season, and a 4-6 playoff record with an amazing 2.18 GAA and .922 save percentage. Vladar has been a solid fit to backstop head coach Rick Tocchet's aggressive style. He's going to be a target on draft day next year.

  • Flyers' Dan Vladar: Expected to start Saturday

Vladar is slated to start at home against Carolina for Game 4 on Saturday, per Ryan Henkel of The Hockey News.

Vladar is 4-5 with a 2.11 GAA and a .921 save percentage in nine playoff outings this year. While those overall postseason numbers look good, he's been less effective against Carolina in the second round, going 0-3 while allowing 10 goals on 96 shots (.896 save percentage). The Flyers need a win Saturday to avoid elimination. Carolina is 7-0 and has averaged 3.00 goals per game in the 2026 postseason.

  • Flyers' Dan Vladar: Set to start Game 3

Vladar is expected to patrol the crease at home for Game 3 versus the Hurricanes on Thursday, Jackie Spiegel of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Vladar has given up three goals in four of his last five outings, all losses, while recording a 42-save shutout in the fifth. While the 28-year-old backstop did enough to get the Flyers past in-state rival Pittsburgh in the first round, head coach Rick Tocchet may have to consider giving Samuel Ersson a look if Vladar comes out flat again in Game 3.

  • Flyers' Dan Vladar: Series slipping away quickly

Vladar stopped 26 of 30 shots in Thursday's 4-1 loss to the Hurricanes in Game 3.

Vladar has lost all three games in the second round, giving up 10 goals on 95 shots in those defeats. The netminder is still 4-5 for the postseason, but this was the first time he's allowed more than three goals in a playoff game this year, so he's not trending in the right direction. It's looking likely that the Flyers are simply not on the same level as the Hurricanes. Vladar is likely to get the chance to save the season in Saturday's Game 4.

  • Flyers' Dan Vladar: Downed in OT by Carolina

Vladar made 40 saves Monday in the Flyers' 3-2 overtime loss to the Hurricanes in Game 2 of their second-round series.

Philadelphia grabbed a 2-0 lead before five minutes had elapsed in the first period, but Vladar couldn't make it hold up as he faced his highest shot volume yet in the postseason. The 28-year-old netminder still hasn't given up more than three goals in any of his eight playoff starts so far, posting a dazzling 1.89 GAA and .929 save percentage, but he and the Flyers are down two games to none as the series shifts to Philly for Game 3 on Thursday.

  • Flyers' Dan Vladar: Starting Game 2

Vladar will start Monday's Game 2 on the road against Carolina.

Vladar drew the Game 1 start in Carolina and allowed three goals on 23 shots (.870 save percentage) in the 3-0 loss. However, he posted shutouts in two of his six first-round appearances and will attempt to bounce back in Game 2 of the second round Monday.

  • Flyers' Dan Vladar: Allows three goals in loss

Vladar stopped 20 of 23 shots in Saturday's 3-0 loss to the Hurricanes in Game 1 of the second round.

Vladar and the Flyers were down 2-0 by the 7:30 mark of the first period as the Hurricanes' second line showed no rust after a week off. While Vladar was able to settle in after that, the Flyers' offense made no inroads against the Hurricanes' defensive structure, totaling just 19 shots on net for the game. Vladar would have to really struggle to lose his spot as the Flyers' No. 1 goalie. He's 4-3 this postseason and has allowed no more than three goals in any of his seven games so far. Expect him back between the pipes for Game 2 on Monday.

  • Flyers' Dan Vladar: Slated starter Saturday

Vladar is expected to start on the road in Game 1 against Carolina on Saturday.

Vladar went 4-2 while posting a 1.61 GAA and a .937 save percentage in six appearances against Pittsburgh in the first round. Although he did excel against the Penguins, Carolina is another challenging adversary. Pittsburgh ranked third in goals per game during the 2025-26 regular season with an average of 3.54, while Carolina finished second at 3.55. Vladar did well against the Hurricanes in the 2025-26 regular season, going 1-0-1 while stopping 54 of 58 shots (.931 save percentage).

  • Flyers' Dan Vladar: Blanks Pens in OT win Wednesday

Vladar stopped all 42 shots he faced Wednesday during the Flyers' 1-0 overtime win over the Penguins in Game 6 of their first-round series.

The 28-year-old has been brilliant while carrying Philly to its first playoff series win since 2019-20, but Vladar raised his game to another level in the clincher as he recorded his second clean sheet of the first round and set a new season high for saves in a single game. The former Flame has had a breakout campaign with the Flyers, and he'll take a 1.61 GAA and .937 save percentage in the playoffs into a second-round clash with the Hurricanes.
