  • Jamie Phillips: Not tendered by Jets

Phillips did not receive a qualifying offer from the Jets which renders him an unrestricted free agent, Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun reports.

Phillips has yet to make his NHL debut, but he appeared in 17 games -- including a single playoff showing -- with AHL Manitoba this past season, with his regular-season output comprised of a 6-7-0 record, 2.76 GAA and .912 save percentage. Now 25 years old, Phillips had been a standout for Michigan Tech of the WCHA prior to turning pro, so there's an outside chance that he finds work elsewhere based on his experience facing pucks at multiple levels.

  • Jets' Jamie Phillips: Headed for minors

Phillips was reassigned to AHL Manitoba on Friday, Darren Dreger of TSN reports.

In order to feel comfortable with their backup situation, the Jets promoted Michael Hutchinson from the Moose after Steve Mason (undisclosed) was injured in practice. However, with AHL Manitoba in the hunt for the Calder Cup, Phillips was sent down in order to provide additional depth and not overburden the Jets' minor-league affiliate. At the end of the day, what matters most for fantasy owners is that Connor Hellebuyck is healthy and will be between the pipes for Game 5 against the Wild on Friday.

  • Jets' Jamie Phillips: Joining big club for postseason

Phillips was recalled from AHL Manitoba on Wednesday, Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun reports.

With the postseason beginning Wednesday and both of the team's top-two netminders healthy, Phillips' recall likely signifies that he'll serve as the Jets' third goaltender for the playoffs. Splitting time between the ECHL and AHL this season, Phillips posted a 2.76 GAA, .912 save percentage, and 6-7-0 record in 16 games with Manitoba this campaign. That said, the 25-year-old Phillips has yet to make his NHL debut, and it's highly unlikely that he'd be given his first NHL appearance in the postseason.

  • Jets' Jamie Phillips: Heads back to minors

Phillips was returned to AHL Manitoba on Monday.

Phillips' stint with the Jets was never going to last beyond the NHL All-Star Game. In fact, once veteran Steve Mason (concussion) is cleared to resume his role as the No. 2 in Winnipeg, the 24-year-old Phillips will likely find himself back in the ECHL with the Jacksonville Icemen.

  • Jets' Jamie Phillips: Earns first NHL call-up

Phillips was promoted from AHL Manitoba on Friday.

Phillips' recall is a mere formality that allows Michael Hutchinson to be assigned to the minors, thereby making him eligible for the AHL All-Star Game. There is little chance the 24-year-old Phillips will see the ice, even if he is still on the roster ahead of Tuesday's clash with the Lightning. The Ontario native has played more games with ECHL Jacksonville (16) than with the Moose (three) this year, and he could find himself back with the Icemen once Steve Mason (concussion) is healthy -- which will push all the other goalies down the organizational depth chart.
