Sharks' Shakir Mukhamadullin: Considered day-to-day
Rotowire
Mukhamadullin is being evaluated for an upper-body injury and is day-to-day, Sheng Peng of San Jose Hockey Now reports Sunday.
Mukhamadullin didn't practice Sunday due to an injury he suffered in Saturday's 7-3 loss to Tampa Bay. The Sharks have a back-to-back set on tap against the Blue Jackets on Tuesday and in Los Angeles on Wednesday. John Klingberg (lower body) has been ruled out for those games, so if Mukhamadullin ends up being unable to play, Nick Leddy and Vincent Desharnais (upper body) will be potential options to draw into the lineup.

Sharks' Shakir Mukhamadullin: Lights lamp in loss
Rotowire
Mukhamadullin scored a goal, blocked two shots and added two PIM in Thursday's 5-3 loss to the Stars.
Mukhamadullin has been in a part-time role in December and also battled an upper-body injury. When he plays, he's on the third pairing, and he saw just 11:53 of ice time Thursday, which suggests his standing on the blue line is trending down. He's produced two goals, six points, 13 shots on net, 19 blocked shots, 10 hits and a plus-4 rating over 17 appearances, but he's a risky fantasy option if he's not going to play every game.

Sharks' Shakir Mukhamadullin: Likely out through weekend
Rotowire
Mukhamadullin sustained an injury during practice and is expected to miss games Friday versus the Mammoth and Saturday against the Penguins, Max Miller of NHL.com reports.
Mukhamadullin was poised to return to the lineup after two healthy scratches, but the injury has changed that plan. The 23-year-old's status is unclear for the Sharks' upcoming road trip, which begins Tuesday versus the Islanders. As long as Mukhamadullin is out, Sam Dickinson is poised to see bottom-four minutes and could be an option for power-play time as well.
Mukhamadullin (shoulder surgery) signed a one-year, $1 million contract with San Jose on Thursday, according to Chris Johnston of The Athletic.
The defenseman is expected to be completely healthy ahead of training camp in September after undergoing surgery in April. Sharks' Shakir Mukhamadullin: Bags assist in loss
Rotowire
Mukhamadullin notched a power-play assist in Saturday's 4-2 loss to the Islanders.
With six helpers over his last eight games, Mukhamadullin has quickly emerged as a contributor on offense at the NHL level. The 23-year-old blueliner has a total of seven points, 17 shots on net, 27 blocked shots, 18 hits and a plus-3 rating through 21 appearances this season. He was viewed as a bit of a development project when drafted 20th overall in 2020, but Mukhamadullin has a great opportunity to make his mark with the Sharks integrating a large number of prospects toward the tail end of this season.

Sharks' Shakir Mukhamadullin: Five assists in last seven games
Rotowire
Mukhamadullin had two assists Tuesday in a 6-2 win over the Sabres.
Mukhamadullin has three assists in his last two games and five in seven contests since the 4 Nations Face-Off. It's a solid stretch for the young defender, who had just one goal in his first 12 games this season. Mukhamadullin also has 10 blocks and nine hits in those seven games. He is a terrific skater who gets himself out of trouble with the puck, and he isn't afraid to use his big frame to rub guys out or lay them out. However, Mukhamadullin's fantasy value in the future remains to be seen.

Rotowire
Mukhamadullin notched an assist, two hits and three blocked shots in Monday's 3-2 shootout win over the Maple Leafs.
Mukhamadullin is settling in well at the NHL level with three helpers over five games since the 4 Nations Face-Off break. He's up to four points, 15 shots on net, 15 hits, 25 blocked shots and a plus-2 rating through 18 appearances. Sharks' Shakir Mukhamadullin: Sent down Tuesday
Rotowire
Mukhamadullin was assigned to AHL San Jose on Tuesday.
Mukhamadullin has moved past his lower-body injury, but he's not ready to be a regular with the Sharks just yet. The left-shot blueliner will need to continue developing his game with the Barracuda, but he could be one of the big club's first recalls. The 22-year-old banked 34 points across 55 regular-season games in the minors last season, and he picked up an assist over his first three appearances in the NHL.

Sharks' Shakir Mukhamadullin: Sent to AHL
Rotowire
Mukhamadullin was reassigned to AHL San Jose on Thursday, Curtis Pashelka of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
The Sharks don't play again until Feb. 14, so it's no surprise that Mukhamadullin was sent down. The plan is for him to play in the AHL All-Star game Feb. 5 and get in four AHL games before presumably being recalled by the Sharks. Mukhamadullin picked up his first career NHL point Wednesday, as he had a power-play assist on Anthony Duclair's first-period goal against Anaheim. Mukhamadullin is already a top-four defenseman with the Sharks and should eventually play on the top unit while seeing time with the top power play.

Rotowire
Mukhamadullin was recalled from AHL San Jose on Thursday.
Mukhamadullin was the big piece the Sharks wanted from New Jersey when they sent Timo Meier to the Devils 11 months ago. The 22-year old was selected 20th overall in 2020.
