  • Blue Jackets' Jet Greaves: Stomped by Mammoth power play

Greaves turned aside 27 shots in Saturday's 4-1 loss to Utah.

Three of the Mammoth's goals came on power plays, giving Greaves little chance to keep the Blue Jackets in the contest. The 25-year-old netminder has been beaten seven times on 57 shots through his first two starts, going 1-1-0, but he has a firm hold on the top job in the Columbus crease with 39-year-old Cam Talbot as his backup.

  • Blue Jackets' Jet Greaves: Expected starter Saturday

Greaves is slated to start at home against Utah on Saturday, according to Brian Hedger of The Columbus Dispatch.

Greaves opened the season by stopping 23 of 26 shots in a 6-3 win over Buffalo on Thursday. He posted a 26-19-9 record, a 2.60 GAA and a .908 save percentage in 55 regular-season appearances for Columbus in 2025-26. Greaves should receive most of the Blue Jackets' starts again, while Cam Talbot will act as the understudy.

  • Blue Jackets' Jet Greaves: Bags win in opener

Greaves made 23 saves in Thursday's 6-3 win over the Sabres.

The 25-year-old did get beaten twice in the second period while the outcome was still in doubt, but Greaves slammed the door on Buffalo in the third as Columbus pulled away. Greaves is locked into the No. 1 spot in the crease after a breakout 2025-26, but an unusual early-season schedule for the Blue Jackets that sees them get a five-day layoff next week before playing back-to-back sets each of the following two weekends will allow him to ease into the new campaign. He should be between the pipes Saturday for a home tilt against the Mammoth, however.

  • Blue Jackets' Jet Greaves: First goalie off Thursday

Greaves was the first goalie off during Thursday's morning skate, Mark Scheig of The Hockey Writers reports, indicating that he'll draw the Opening Night start at home against the Sabres.

Greaves saw a career-high workload during the 2025-26 campaign, making 55 regular-season appearances and going 26-19-9 with a 2.60 GAA and .908 save percentage. New backup goaltender Cam Talbot has also proven to be capable of handling a hefty workload, but Greaves should begin the regular season as the Blue Jackets' No. 1 netminder.

  • Blue Jackets' Jet Greaves: Ends preseason with victory

Greaves turned aside 31 shots in Saturday's 4-2 preseason win over the Red Wings.

The 25-year-old netminder took a shutout into the third period before getting beaten by Ben Chiarot and Michael Rasmussen, but the Blue Jackets never trailed in the contest. Greaves heads into 2026-27 with a firm hold on the No. 1 job in the Columbus crease after going 26-19-9 last season with a 2.60 GAA and .908 save percentage over 55 appearances.

  • Blue Jackets' Jet Greaves: Will start preseason finale

Greaves will get the starting nod on the road versus the Red Wings on Saturday, Aaron Portzline of The Athletic reports.

Greaves posted 16 saves without allowing a goal over two periods in Monday's preseason opener against Detroit. The 25-year-old netminder will get a bit of rest before a final tune-up in the last game of the exhibition slate. Greaves is projected to be the Blue Jackets' starter this year.

  • Blue Jackets' Jet Greaves: Perfect in Monday's preseason contest

Greaves turned aside all 16 shots he faced in Monday's 1-0 preseason shootout win over the Red Wings.

Greaves played the first 40 minutes of this game, while Pheonix Copley replaced him to start the third period. Elvis Merzlikins (shoulder) has no timeline for a return, so Greaves is poised to handle the majority of starts for Columbus in the early going, even with the addition of veteran Cam Talbot to the goaltending room.

  • Blue Jackets' Jet Greaves: In goal Monday

Greaves will get the starting nod at home versus Detroit in Monday's preseason matchup, Aaron Portzline of The Athletic reports.

In addition to starting the first preseason game, Greaves is scheduled to be in the crease for the last one versus Detroit on Saturday while Cam Talbot starts the other two preseason contests. With Elvis Merzlikins (shoulder) on the shelf, the 25-year-old Greaves likely has the inside track on the No. 1 job, though he is far from secure in that spot.

  • Blue Jackets' Jet Greaves: Could see plenty of work early in year

Greaves will be in line to see plenty of work early in the 2026-27 regular season if Elvis Merzlikins (shoulder) is forced to miss time, Jesse Granger of The Athletic reports Thursday.

After excelling over a limited sample during the 2024-25 campaign, Greaves saw a sharp uptick in work last season and remained effective, going 26-19-9 with a 2.60 GAA and .908 save percentage across 55 regular-season appearances. Although Greaves served as the Blue Jackets' No. 1 netminder last year, he still had to split some time with Merzlikins, who made 30 regular-season appearances. However, Merzlikins underwent successful shoulder surgery Monday and doesn't yet have a timetable to return, so Greaves could see even more work early in the 2026-27 season if Merzlikins' procedure forces him to miss games. If Merzlikins is sidelined to begin the year, Pheonix Copley would be in line to serve as the team's No. 2 netminder.

  • Blue Jackets' Jet Greaves: Inks three-year deal

Greaves secured a three-year, $15 million contract with Columbus on Thursday, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.

Greaves and the Jackets will avoid salary arbitration by agreeing to this new deal that represents a significant upgrade from his previous two-year, $1.63 million contract. Looking ahead to the 2026-27 campaign, the 25-year-old backstop will likely enter training camp as the presumptive No. 1 option, despite Elvis Merzlikins still being under contract.

  • Blue Jackets' Jet Greaves: Falls to Caps in finale

Greaves made 19 saves in Tuesday's 2-1 loss to Washington.

He didn't get enough support to pick up a win in the season finale, but Greaves heads into the offseason as the clear top option in the Columbus crease. Over 55 outings, Greaves posted a 26-19-9 record with a 2.60 GAA and .908 save percentage. Greaves becomes a restricted free agent in the summer, and the Blue Jackets could make a strong push to lock the 25-year-old netminder up on a long-term deal.

  • Blue Jackets' Jet Greaves: Slated to start Tuesday

Greaves is expected to start at home against the Capitals on Tuesday, Mark Scheig of The Hockey Writers reports.

Greaves holds a 26-18-9 record with a 2.61 GAA and a .908 save percentage across 54 appearances in 2025-26 -- a significant step up in workload from the 11 outings he logged with Columbus a season ago, when he posted a stellar 1.91 GAA and .938 save percentage. The 25-year-old netminder has developed into a reliable NHL starter after working his way up from the OHL and AHL without ever being drafted, spending parts of four seasons with the Cleveland Monsters before earning a full-time NHL role. He's a decent fantasy option for spot starts given his solid peripherals, though his win total and save percentage make him a streaming-tier option rather than a must-start in most formats.

  • Blue Jackets' Jet Greaves: Tagged with loss Sunday

Greaves stopped 19 of 22 shots in Sunday's 3-2 loss to the Bruins.

Greaves started on the second leg of this back-to-back set after allowing two goals on 22 shots in a 5-2 win over the Canadiens on Saturday, but he couldn't lead Columbus to victory this time around. Don't be surprised if Greaves also gets the starting nod for the regular-season finale against Washington on Tuesday, though his recent results have been inconsistent at best. Over his last five starts, Greaves has gone 2-3-0 with a 2.81 GAA and an .892 save percentage.

  • Blue Jackets' Jet Greaves: Strong outing vs. Montreal

Greaves stopped 20 of 22 shots in Saturday's 5-2 win over the Canadiens.

Greaves was beaten in the first and third periods, but the offense provided him enough support to cruise to a win on the road. Greaves has been alternating wins and losses over his four starts, a stretch in which he's posted a 2.75 GAA with an .898 save percentage. It remains to be seen if Greaves will also start Sunday against the Bruins on the second leg of a back-to-back set.

  • Blue Jackets' Jet Greaves: Starting again Sunday

Greaves will patrol the home crease against Boston on Sunday, Aaron Portzline of The Athletic reports.

Greaves is coming off a 20-save performance in Saturday's 5-2 win over Montreal, and he will get the second half of the Blue Jackets' back-to-back against the Bruins on Sunday. He has a 26-17-9 record this campaign with a 2.60 GAA and a .908 save percentage across 53 appearances. Boston sits 12th in the league with 3.26 goals per game this season.

  • Blue Jackets' Jet Greaves: Starting Saturday

Greaves will defend the visiting goal in Montreal on Saturday, according to Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports.

Greaves has been the Blue Jackets' No. 1 goaltender this season, posting a 25-27-9 record with a 2.61 GAA and a .908 save percentage over 52 games this season. The Canadiens are seventh in scoring, lighting the lamp 271 times in 2025-26.

  • Blue Jackets' Jet Greaves: Zero help from teammates

Greaves made 19 saves in a 5-0 loss to the Sabres on Thursday. He allowed four goals.

Greaves is doing everything he can behind a Blue Jackets squad that has lost seven of their past eight games. The Blue Jackets are two points behind the third-place Flyers, who also lost Thursday. Greaves does his part -- he has a 2.61 GAA and .908 save percentage in 52 games played, and there's no reason to expect that to change the rest of the way.

  • Blue Jackets' Jet Greaves: Slated to start Thursday

Greaves is expected to protect the visiting cage in Buffalo on Thursday, Mark Scheig of The Hockey Writers reports.

Greaves will make his 11th start in the Blue Jackets' last 14 games Thursday. He is 25-16-9 with a 2.58 GAA and a .910 save percentage over 51 appearances in 2025-26. The Sabres lead the Atlantic Division with 104 points and are generating 3.42 goals per game, seventh in the NHL this season.

  • Blue Jackets' Jet Greaves: Holds on for SO win

Greaves turned aside 34 of 37 shots on goal in Tuesday's 4-3 shootout win over the Red Wings.

Greaves kept the Blue Jackets in Tuesday's contest throughout regulation and overtime before making multiple saves in the shootout to claim the victory. With Tuesday's win, he is up to a 25-16-9 record, a 2.58 GAA and a .910 save percentage across 51 appearances this season. The 25-year-old netminder has been excellent down the stretch with a 2.18 GAA and a .920 save percentage over his last 10 starts. Greaves should continue to draw regular starts as the Jackets make a push for a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. He's a strong fantasy option for the remainder of the regular season.
