Flames' Spencer Foo: Signs with KHL team
Foo has signed a contract with HC Kunlun Red Star of the KHL, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.
Foo was unable to secure a regular role with the Flames over the past two seasons after signing with the club as an undrafted free agent in June of 2017, so he's decided to take his talents overseas to Russia's top league. It's possible that the Union College product won't ever return to the NHL, but he may now get the chance to play for China in the 2022 Winter Olympics.... See More ... See Less
Flames' Spencer Foo: Brought up to big club
The Flames recalled Foo and nine other players from AHL Stockton on Wednesday.
The AHL regular season came to an end Sunday and Stockton didn't make the Calder Cup playoffs, so it was just a matter of time until the Flames recalled their "black aces." Along with Foo, the Flames have promoted Ryan Lomberg, Glenn Gawdin, Tyler Parsons, Tyler Graovac, Matthew Phillips, Marcus Hogstrom, Buddy Robinson, Curtis Lazar and Rinat Valiev from their minor-league affiliate. It's unlikely that any of those players will crack Calgary's lineup this postseason, but they'll all gain some invaluable experience while practicing with the big club during its playoff run.... Foo was sent down to AHL Stockton on Sunday.
Foo appeared in Calgary's final four games of the season, scoring a pair of goals and logging 16 shots on goal. With the NHL squad all finished up, the 23-year-old will get some more ice time as the AHL season winds down.... See More ... See Less

Foo was recalled from AHL Stockton on Wednesday.
Foo failed to make it past training camp in the fall, but he's racked up 20 goals and 17 assists over 59 games in the AHL this season to earn his first promotion. The 23-year-old winger could make his NHL debut Thursday against the Blue Jackets, though there's no guarantee he will be in the lineup with 12 other healthy forwards available.... See More ... The Flames released Foo from training camp and assigned him to AHL Stockton on Tuesday.
