Coghlan is eligible to spend 14 days with the Wolves during the assignment. He hasn't played an NHL game since Nov. 9, so this is a way for the Hurricanes to get the 24-year-old into game action. Coghlan (COVID-19 protocols) has been added to non-roster injured reserve, per the NHL Media Site, and will not participate in Tuesday's game against Edmonton or Wednesday's tilt versus Calgary.
Coghlan hasn't played since Jan. 27, when he entered COVID-19 protocols. While he did clear the league's protocols and resume practicing with the team Monday, he's ineligible to cross the Canadian border due to his positive test, so he will miss the Knights' two-game road trip.
