Canadiens' Alex Belzile: Pots two more goals
Belzile scored twice in AHL Laval's 4-3 loss to Belleville on Saturday.
Belzile has scored in five straight games, compiling seven goals and one assist in that span. The veteran forward is up to 11 goals, 20 points and a plus-15 rating over 23 contests this season. He continues to be a decent scorer in the AHL, but he probably won't see NHL time unless the Canadiens sustain a number of injuries.

Canadiens' Alex Belzile: Two goals in AHL shootout win
Belzile scored twice in AHL Laval's 5-4 shootout win over Lehigh Valley on Saturday.
Belzile has four multi-point efforts this campaign. He has three goals and three assists over his last six games. For the season, he's at 14 points in 19 appearances, adding a plus-11 rating and 48 shots on net. Belzile is an experienced AHL veteran, but the 34-year-old doesn't seem likely to get a look with the Canadiens this year.

Canadiens' Alex Belzile: Placed on waivers
Belzile has been placed on waivers for the purpose of assignment to AHL Laval, the Canadiens announced Sunday.
Belzile, a longtime member of the Canadiens' organization, has not appeared in an NHL game since 2022-23. He'll likely spend most, if not all, of the upcoming season, with Laval. The 34-year-old has reached the 50-point mark in the AHL for each of the past two regular seasons, including 19 goals, 37 assists and 119 PIM in 66 games last year.

Canadiens' Alex Belzile: Signs one-year contract
Belzile inked a one-year, two-way deal with Montreal on Tuesday.
Belzile will return to the Habs, whom he last logged 31 NHL games for back in 2022-23. During his two-year stint in the Rangers' organization, the 33-year-old winger was never able to break into the NHL roster despite reaching the 50-point threshold in each of the previous two minor-league campaigns. If he can bring that scoring touch to Montreal, Belzile could be a strong candidate to make the Opening Night roster.

Belzile had 19 goals, 50 points and 70 PIM in 61 regular-season contests with AHL Hartford in 2023-24. The 33-year-old also has six goals and 15 points across 44 career NHL games.

Rangers' Alex Belzile: Assigned to AHL Hartford
Belzile was sent down to AHL Hartford on Tuesday.
Belzile hasn't played an NHL game since being called up in February. The 32-year-old has put together a nice season in the AHL with 14 goals and 23 assists in 43 contests. He will likely see some playing time the closer we get to the playoffs.

Rangers' Alex Belzile: On the ice for practice
Belzile (leg) practiced with the second group at Rangers training camp Thursday, Mollie Walker of the New York Post reports.
Belzile sustained a fractured leg in April, which cost him the last five games of the season. The 32-year-old winger posted 14 points in 31 outings for the Canadiens last year. He has just 44 games of NHL experience under his belt, and with the Rangers' established set of forwards, Belzile may have trouble getting in the lineup regularly in 2023-24.

Belzile will miss the rest of the 2022-23 season due to a fractured leg.

Belzile gave Montreal a 2-1 lead early in the second period, beating Eric Comrie with a wrist shot after finding himself alone on a rush. Belzile scored a goal on one shot and added one hit over 14:13 of ice time in Saturday's 8-2 win over the Blue Jackets.
Belzile scored Montreal's seventh goal midway through the third period, snapping a seven-game drought with his fifth tally. The 31-year-old is unlikely to become an everyday player for the Canadiens next season, but in the here and now, Belzile is healthy and contributing from the fourth line with 13 points over 27 contests.

Canadiens' Alex Belzile: Makes it three in a row
Belzile scored a goal on two shots over 10:16 of ice time in Thursday's 4-3 shootout loss to the Rangers.
Belzile corralled a puck in the neutral zone and went straight to the net, beating Igor Shesterkin over the stick-side shoulder. It was the third consecutive game with a goal for the fourth-line forward, giving him 10 points over 19 games since AHL Laval's captain was called up to the NHL. He and Rafael Harvey-Pinard (eight goals, 21 games) have given Montreal a jolt since joining the team.

Canadiens' Alex Belzile: One of each in loss
Belzile scored a goal on his lone shot and assisted on another in Tuesday's 4-3 shootout loss to Carolina. He also had a two-minute minor over 9:38 of ice time.
Belzile put the Canadiens on top midway through the first period when he banged home a rebound of a Michael Pezzetta shot for his second goal in as many games. The fourth-line forward had an eight-game stretch without a point before the current two-game scoring binge. In total, Belzile has nine points in 18 games since being called up from AHL Laval. Montreal has several injured forwards, some likely done for the year, but guys like Kirby Dach (lower body), Brendan Gallagher (lower body) and Jake Evans (lower body) are all projected back within the next week. That could push Belzile out of a regular gig.

Canadiens' Alex Belzile: Puts away goal in loss
Belzile scored a goal on two shots and added three hits in Sunday's 4-3 loss to the Golden Knights.
The tally ended an eight-game point drought for Belzile, and it came just 23 seconds after Ivan Barbashev gave the Golden Knights a 4-1 lead. Belzile remains in a bottom-six role with virtually no power-play time, so he's unlikely to interest most fantasy managers. He's picked up two goals, five assists, 22 shots on net, 14 hits, 12 blocked shots and a plus-1 rating through 17 appearances this season.

Belzile had an assist, four shots on goal and one blocked shot over 11:16 of ice time in Tuesday's 4-0 win over the Blackhawks.
Belzile has registered points in five of seven games since being called up from AHL Laval. He's strictly a fourth liner at this point, but if Montreal can flip veterans, such as Evgenii Dadonov, Jonathan Drouin and Mike Hoffman at the trade deadline, Belzile could be in line for additional TOI.
