Ducks' Nathan Gaucher: Sent down Thursday
Gaucher (lower body) was reassigned to AHL San Diego on Wednesday.
Gaucher was bothered by a minor injury that kept him from suiting up Wednesday versus the Sharks. Since he was sent down again, that injury is no longer a concern. The 21-year-old center will begin the year with the Gulls and figures to spend most of the campaign in the minors.

Gaucher has been assigned to AHL San Diego, the Ducks announced Sunday.
Gaucher spent the offseason working his way back from a lengthy shoulder injury, but he faced minimal restrictions in training camp. He's been assigned to San Diego, as expected, but the good news is that he's healthy again. The 21-year-old had eight goals, 19 points and 79 PIM across 56 regular-season appearances with San Diego in 2024-25.

Ducks' Nathan Gaucher: Practicing Thursday
Gaucher (shoulder) was on the ice with the second group as part of Thursday's training camp session, Derek Lee of The Hockey News reports.
Gaucher was hurt back in March but looks poised to return to action heading into the upcoming campaign. The 21-year-old center will need to impress at camp if he is going to secure a spot on the Opening Night roster. Given his presence with the second group, he most likely will start the year with AHL San Diego, where he played in 56 games last year while notching eight goals and 11 helpers.

Ducks' Nathan Gaucher: Facing extended absence
Gaucher is expected to be sidelined for 4-6 months after undergoing shoulder surgery, AHL San Diego announced Thursday.
As long as Gaucher's recovery timeline doesn't linger into the six-month time frame, he should be ready for the start of the Ducks' training camp in the fall. Selected by the organization with the 22nd overall pick in the 2022 NHL Draft, the 21-year-old center has struggled to produce in the minors, tallying just 19 points in 56 games for AHL San Diego this year. Between the injury recovery and limited offensive productivity, Gaucher should probably be considered a longshot to make the Opening Night roster for the 2025-26 campaign.

Gaucher notched one goal and one assist in Wednesday's 4-1 win over AHL Abbotsford.
Gaucher didn't have a point in seven straight outings before Wednesday's breakout performance. Lengthy scoring droughts have plagued his second AHL season. Gaucher has four goals, 10 points and 66 PIM through 45 appearances in 2024-25. He had only 10 goals and 15 helpers in 72 outings for Anaheim's minor-league affiliate in San Diego during the 2023-24 campaign. Still, Gaucher is known more for his physical play than his scoring ability.
