  • Canadiens' Nate Clurman: On waivers for AHL assignment

Clurman was placed on waivers by the Canadiens for the purpose of assignment to AHL Laval, the team announced Sunday.

The 27-year-old signed a one-year, two-way deal with the Canadiens over the summer, and he'll begin his career with Montreal's organization at the AHL level. Clurman got into one game with Pittsburgh last year -- the only NHL action of his career so far. He had 11 points in 31 regular-season outings with AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton in 2024-25.

  • Canadiens' Nate Clurman: Finds new team via free agency

Clurman signed a one-year, two-way contract with Montreal on Tuesday.

Clurman collected two goals and nine assists in 31 regular-season appearances with AHL Wilkes-Barre Scranton in 2024-25. The 27-year-old defender will probably spend most of the 2025-26 campaign in the minors.

  • Penguins' Nate Clurman: Returns to minors

Clurman was sent to AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Wednesday, per Wes Crosby of NHL.com.

Clurman was also reassigned to the minors Thursday only to be recalled Friday, so it's entirely possible this is another paper transaction. Clurman has been serving primarily as the Penguins' seventh defenseman because Kris Letang (undisclosed) and Owen Pickering (concussion) are on the shelf.

  • Penguins' Nate Clurman: Ascends to top level

Clurman was recalled from AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Friday, Seth Rorabaugh of Tribune-Review Sports reports.

The Penguins had only six healthy blueliners on their roster before recalling Clurman. He was a healthy scratch in a pair of games this month and was returned to the AHL in what was a paper move Tuesday. Clurman had a goal and five points in 18 AHL games before his recall.

  • Penguins' Nate Clurman: Sent down in likely paper move

Clurman was reassigned to AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Tuesday, Seth Rorabaugh of Tribune-Review Sports reports.

Clurman is likely to continue bouncing between levels while the Penguins deal with multiple injuries on the blue line. He is yet to make his NHL debut. Clurman is likely to be recalled prior to Saturday's game versus the Islanders.

  • Penguins' Nate Clurman: Called up by Pittsburgh

Clurman was recalled from AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Monday.

Clurman spent a day with Pittsburgh last week but didn't make his NHL debut. However, he'll rejoin the Penguins after Owen Pickering (concussion) was placed on injured reserve Monday. Clurman has recorded a goal and four assists over 18 appearances in the AHL this year, and he'll likely serve as an extra defenseman during his time on the NHL roster.

  • Penguins' Nate Clurman: Sent back down

Clurman was reassigned to AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Wednesday.

Clurman spent one day on the NHL roster, but he's no longer needed in Pittsburgh after the team traded for Pierre-Olivier Joseph. The 26-year-old Clurman will have to wait for another chance to make his NHL debut.

  • Penguins' Nate Clurman: Called up from minors

Clurman was recalled from AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Tuesday.

Clurman's promotion comes as fellow blueliner Marcus Pettersson (lower body) was designated for injured reserve in a corresponding move. Even with his elevation to the NHL roster, the 26-year-old Clurman is unlikely to jump into the lineup immediately versus the Kings on Tuesday. Selected by the Avs in the sixth round of the 2016 NHL Draft, Clurman has yet to log an NHL games, playing exclusively in the AHL and ECHL since leaving Notre Dame after three seasons back in 2020-21.

  • Penguins' Nate Clurman: Waived Friday

Clurman was placed on waivers by Pittsburgh on Friday, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.

Assuming he clears, Clurman will link up with AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton for the upcoming 2024-25 campaign. Given his limited offensive upside -- he managed just five points in 37 games with AHL Colorado last year -- it's hard to see the 26-year-old defenseman breaking into the Penguins' lineup this season.
