Hurricanes' Brandon Bussi: Worst outing of season
Bussi stopped 16 of 22 shots in Thursday's 7-5 loss to the Canadiens. The seventh goal was an empty-netter with 2:00 left in the third period.
Bussi had posted a save percentage of .900 or higher in 11 of his previous 16 appearances this season, but his season-long averages will take a hit after this woeful performance. There's a strong chance this was a one-off game, though, as the 27-year-old has been excellent this season. He'll aim to bounce back in his next start, which will come against Colorado on Saturday or New Jersey on Sunday.

Hurricanes' Brandon Bussi: Nabs another win Monday
Bussi stopped 17 shots in Monday's 3-2 overtime win over the Rangers.
The rookie netminder continues to shine in Carolina's stingy defensive system. Bussi's only regulation loss this season occurred Oct. 25, and since then, he's gone 11-0-1 with a 2.02 GAA and a .911 save percentage. Pyotr Kochetkov (hip) is headed for what's expected to be season-ending surgery, so Bussi is in line to handle an even bigger workload the rest of the campaign, with erratic and fragile veteran Frederik Andersen backing him up.

Hurricanes' Brandon Bussi: Facing Rangers
Bussi will patrol the home crease against the Rangers on Monday, Chip Alexander of The Raleigh News & Observer reports.
Bussi is coming off an 18-save effort in Saturday's 5-2 win over Detroit. He has a 12-1-1 record with one shutout, a 2.10 GAA and a .912 save percentage through 14 appearances this season. With Pyotr Kochetkov (lower body) likely to miss the remainder of the year and Frederik Andersen struggling, Bussi could seize control of the team's No. 1 netminder role. The Rangers rank 31st in the league with 2.55 goals per game this campaign.

Hurricanes' Brandon Bussi: Continues to defy odds
Bussi made 18 saves in a 5-2 win over Detroit on Saturday.
The first goal came after a Detroit player snagged an errant clearing pass by a Carolina defender and fed Michael Rasmussen in the slot. Bussi made no mistake. The second goal came on a redirection on the power play. Bussi, who made his NHL debut this season at age 27, continues to be a revelation this season after four campaigns in the AHL. He hasn't lost in regulation since Oct. 25, and he is 12-1-1 with a 2.10 GAA and a .912 save percentage on the season.

Hurricanes' Brandon Bussi: Winning streak ends
Bussi stopped 38 of 41 shots in Friday's 4-3 shootout loss to the Panthers.
Bussi's winning run had to end at some point, although at least the goaltender managed to keep the Hurricanes in the game long enough to force a shootout and claim a point. Bussi has four consecutive games with a save percentage of at least .920, as he continues to perform at a high level between the posts for the Hurricanes, even though he was unable to get the win this time around.

Hurricanes' Brandon Bussi: Racks up another win
Bussi stopped 24 of 26 shots in Sunday's 3-2 shootout win over the Flyers.
Bussi recorded his ninth straight win with another outstanding display, and this was also the third consecutive outing in which he posted a save percentage of .920 or higher. During this impressive nine-game winning run, Bussi owns a 1.95 GAA and a .911 save percentage. Having started in six of the Hurricanes' last nine games, and considering how good he's been between the pipes lately, Bussi should continue to see ample playing time moving forward.

Bussi will make his sixth start in nine games, having emerged as the top option in net for the Hurricanes. Hurricanes' Brandon Bussi: Runs win streak to eight
Bussi stopped 23 shots in regulation and overtime and all three shootout attempts he faced in Thursday's 3-2 win over the Capitals.
The rookie netminder stymied Anthony Beauvillier, Dylan Strome and Sonny Milano in the shootout to secure his eighth straight win, and 10th of the season. Bussi hasn't lost a game since Oct. 25, and during his win streak he's posted a stellar 1.97 GAA and .909 save percentage. With neither Frederik Andersen or Pyotr Kochetkov in top form right now, Bussi is making a strong push for the top of Carolina's depth chart in net.

Bussi will patrol the visiting crease in Washington on Thursday, Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site reports.
Bussi has been a huge factor in the Hurricanes' success this season, as he is 9-1-0 with a 2.09 GAA and a .909 save percentage. He has outplayed both Pyotr Kochetkov and Frederik Andersen and could easily be considered Carolina's No. 1 goaltender at this time. The Capitals are generating 3.43 goals per game, third in the NHL this season.

The 27-year-old has also allowed one or fewer goals in three of his last four outings. Bussi could have an increased role between the pipes for the Hurricanes if Frederik Andersen and Pyotr Kochetkov continue to struggle.

Hurricanes' Brandon Bussi: Cruises to sixth straight win
Bussi made 19 saves in Saturday's 6-3 win over the Predators.
Carolina took a 3-0 lead into the first intermission and the outcome was never really in doubt, but Bussi's final numbers were a little disappointing after he took a shutout into the third period. The 27-year-old netminder has started three of the last four games while Pyotr Kochetkov (lower body) is on the shelf, and Bussi hasn't lost a start since Oct. 30, going 6-0-0 over that stretch with a 2.15 GAA and .898 save percentage.

Hurricanes' Brandon Bussi: Posts first career shutout
Bussi logged a 15-save shutout in Sunday's 1-0 overtime win over the Flames.
Bussi has hardly been tested over his last two games, though he was playing with no margin for error in Sunday's contest. The 27-year-old has won five straight outings and is 7-1-0 on the year while staking a claim to a larger role in the Hurricanes' crease. He's added a 2.11 GAA and a .907 save percentage through eight starts. The Hurricanes are off until they host the Maple Leafs on Thursday, which is the beginning of a stretch of three games in four days. Bussi should start at least once in that span, and maybe twice if Pyotr Kochetkov (lower body) remains out.

Hurricanes' Brandon Bussi: Little work in win
Bussi stopped 12 of 13 shots in Friday's 5-1 win over the Jets.
The score was close for a large part of the game, but the Jets had trouble generating much pressure, making this a fairly easy assignment for Bussi. The Hurricanes then rallied with four goals in the third period to run away with the win. Bussi has gone 6-1-0 over his first seven NHL appearances, with his last two outings being wins over the Jets. He's added a 2.43 GAA and an .899 save percentage. Bussi and Frederik Andersen will share Carolina's crease until Pyotr Kochetkov (lower body) is healthy again.

Hurricanes' Brandon Bussi: Set to start Friday
Bussi is expected to start at home against Winnipeg on Friday, per Cory Lavalette of The North State Journal.
Bussi stopped 25 of 28 shots in a 4-3 win over the Jets in his previous start last Friday. He's 5-1-0 with a 2.67 GAA and an .897 save percentage in six appearances this season. Bussi has been used sparingly behind Frederik Andersen and Pyotr Kochetkov. However, Kochetkov is dealing with a lower-body injury and might miss his second straight game Friday as a result, so Bussi should see an increased workload for the duration of Kochetkov's time on the shelf.
