Top Brayden Yager News

  • Jets' Brayden Yager: Nabs two assists for Moose

Yager registered two assists in AHL Manitoba's 3-2 win over Texas on Saturday.

With that performance, Yager has his first multi-point effort in the AHL. The 20-year-old forward has had an unremarkable start to his professional career with six points over 12 outings this season. He had 52 points in 33 regular-season games with WHL Lethbridge last season. Yager clearly still needs some time to adjust to the pro ranks, but he should be a fine addition to the Jets' roster in a year or two, though perhaps as a player with more value on the ice than in fantasy.

  • Jets' Brayden Yager: Called up Friday

Yager was recalled from WHL Lethbridge on Friday.

Yager will link up with the Jets following the conclusion of his WHL season. For the Hurricanes, the 20-year-old center notched 14 goals and 38 assists in 33 regular-season contests before adding another 14 points in 16 playoff games. Yager figures to link up with the other Black Aces that Winnipeg added and is unlikely to see minutes. Still, Yager should be in the mix for a spot on the roster heading into the 2025-26 campaign.

  • Jets' Brayden Yager: Holding steady

Yager has racked up 21 goals and 39 assists over 38 games between WHL Moose Jaw and Lethbridge.

Yager started the year as Moose Jaw's captain, but he was involved in a midseason trade to aid Lethbridge's push to stay competitive. He also suited up for Canada during the World Junior Championship, earning three assists over five games. On the whole, Yager's production is close to his pace from last season (95 points over 57 regular-season outings). The Jets' excellent 2024-25 means they won't have any need to rush Yager to the NHL -- the 20-year-old is likely a year or two away from competing for a spot with the big club considering the Jets have prospects like Brad Lambert and Chaz Lucius percolating with AHL Manitoba.

  • Jets' Brayden Yager: Headed to Winnipeg

The Jets acquired Yager from the Penguins in exchange for Rutger McGroarty on Thursday, Matt Vensal of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Yager was selected 14th overall in the 2023 Draft by the Penguins and proceeded to score 35 goals and add 59 assists in 57 regular-season games with WHL Moose Jaw. He exploded in the playoffs, leading the Warriors to the WHL title with 11 goals and 27 points in 19 appearances. Yager will attend training camp with Winnipeg, but he is likely going to be sent back to the WHL to complete his junior career.

  • Penguins' Brayden Yager: Agrees to entry-level contract

Yager signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Penguins on Thursday.

Yager was taken by Pittsburgh with the 14th overall pick in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft. The 19-year-old scored 35 goals and 95 points in 57 regular-season contests with WHL Moose Jaw in 2023-24. He then provided another 11 goals and 27 points across 20 playoff contests to help the Warriors win the WHL's championship.
