  • Martin Bakos: Waived unconditionally

Bakos was placed on unconditional waivers by the Bruins on Monday for the purpose of terminating his contract, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.

Bakos -- who signed with Boston in June -- notched just four points in 16 games with AHL Providence, which was unlikely to earn him a call-up to the NHL any time soon. As such, the winger probably asked for his release in order to return to Europe where he spent the past nine seasons playing professionally. Barring a dramatic shift in his game, the Slovak probably has logged his last game in North America.

  • Bruins' Martin Bakos: Assigned to AHL Providence

Bakos (lower body) was reassigned to AHL Providence on Saturday, TSN reports.

in order to process this transaction, the Bruins had to activate the prospect from the non-roster injured reserve list. Last season, Bakos recorded 14 goals and 26 assists over 52 appearances with Liberec Bili Tygri HC of the Czech Hockey League. The Slovakian winger is operating under a one-year, two-way contract with the Bruins, so he could easily shuffle back to the parent club if and when injuries threaten the team up front.

  • Bruins' Martin Bakos: Opens season on injured reserve

Bakos (lower body) was injured during the preseason and added onto the Bruins' season-opening injured reserve.

Once cleared of his injury, the 28-year-old winger will be sent down to join AHL Providence, but it is unclear how long his current injury will shelve him for; however, Bakos did skate with the Bruins sporting a non-contact jersey Thursday, Matt Porter of The Boston Globe reports.

  • Bruins' Martin Bakos: Out with lower-body injury

Bakos will miss the remainder of training camp due to a lower-body injury.

The news all but guarantees Bakos won't make the 23-man roster coming out of camp -- something he was unlikely to do anyway. Once the winger is given the green light, he will almost certainly be shipped down to AHL Providence, where he figures to stay for the remainder of the season.
