  • Emil Larmi: Unqualified by Pittsburgh

Larmi was not qualified by the Penguins on Monday and will become a free agent.

Larmi already left North America and signed a deal in Finland after two unsuccessful seasons with AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. The undrafted netminder doesn't have much of a future at the NHL level.

  • Penguins' Emil Larmi: Signs overseas

Larmi agreed to a two-year contract with the Lahden Pelicans on Monday.

=The netminder signed a two-year deal with the Penguins back in June of 2019 but was never able to break into the NHL roster. Larmi is technically set to be a restricted free agent this offseason, so Pittsburgh could hand him a qualifying offer in order to retain his NHL rights even as he returns to Finland.

  • Penguins' Emil Larmi: Added to expanded playoff roster

Larmi was recalled from the Penguins' taxi squad Sunday.

Larmi, along with Juuso Riikola and Yannick Weber, will be on Pittsburgh's main roster for the postseason, as the playoffs allow for an expanded roster in lieu of a taxi squad.

  • Penguins' Emil Larmi: Added to taxi squad

Larmi was elevated to the taxi squad Friday.

Larmi will switch places with Maxime Lagace, who was sent down to AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton in a corresponding move. The Penguins will likely continue to shuffle around their goalies to ensure nobody sits on the taxi squad without playing for too long.

  • Penguins' Emil Larmi: Headed back to minors

Larmi was reassigned to AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Monday.

Larmi hasn't played a game for the Penguins this season and is unlikely to do so this year. In three games with the Baby Pens this year, the 24-year-old netminder went 1-1-1 with a .893 save percentage.

  • Penguins' Emil Larmi: Recalled to taxi squad

Larmi was called up to the taxi squad Friday.

Larmi has had a rough start to the 2020-21 campaign, going 1-5-6 with an .890 save percentage in 12 games with HPK Hameenlinna (Finland) before coming over to North America for the start of the AHL campaign. With AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, the 24-year-old netminder has gone 1-1-1 with a 3.66 GAA and an .893 save percentage. Larmi shouldn't be expected to see any game action in Pittsburgh.
