  • Penguins' Arturs Silovs: Slated to start Wednesday

Silovs is set to start on the road against Washington on Wednesday, per Josh Yohe of The Athletic.

Silovs posted a 19-save shutout win against Philadelphia in Pittsburgh's season opener last Wednesday. He followed that up by turning aside 20 of 25 shots en route to a 6-5 overtime victory over Montreal on Saturday. Washington has gone 1-1-0 while averaging 3.00 goals per game across that span.

  • Penguins' Arturs Silovs: Holds on for OT win

Silovs turned aside 20 of 25 shots on net in Saturday's 6-5 overtime win over the Canadiens.

After Silovs began his 2026-27 campaign with a shutout, he took a step backwards Saturday by conceding five goals. However, he was able to fend off the Canadiens' comeback in overtime long enough for Tommy Novak to give the Penguins a win. With the overtime victory, the 25-year-old Silovs now has a 2-0-0 record, a 2.46 GAA, an .886 save percentage across 44 shots on net and a shutout between two appearances. While he has some things to clean up, the young backstop has showcased enough early on to keep him as the projected lead option between the pipes. However, Sergei Murashov, who has yet to make his season debut, could challenge Silovs for playing time if he gets off to a hot start. Regardless, Silovs is a low-end No. 2 or strong No. 3 goalie option in fantasy for the time being.

  • Penguins' Arturs Silovs: Facing Canadiens

Silovs will protect the home net against Montreal on Saturday, Michelle Crechiolo of the Penguins' official site reports.

Silovs made 19 saves in a 7-0 shutout win over Philadelphia on Wednesday. Montreal earned a 3-2 road victory over Toronto on Tuesday. Last season, Silovs stopped 22 shots in a 3-2 shootout win over the Canadiens on Dec. 21, 2025.

  • Penguins' Arturs Silovs: Posts shutout in opener

Silovs stopped all 19 shots on net he saw in Wednesday's 7-0 Opening Night win over the Flyers.

Silovs started the year on the right foot, posting the third shutout of his NHL career in Wednesday's big win. The 25-year-old goalie had an up-and-down year in 2025-26, where he posted a 19-12-8 record, a 3.07 GAA, an .887 save percentage and two shutouts across 39 regular-season outings. With rookie netminder Sergei Murashov expected to challenge Silovs for opportunities between the pipes, the latter's statement win Wednesday should keep him as the top option for now. Silovs currently holds solid streaming value in fantasy.

  • Penguins' Arturs Silovs: In goal Wednesday

Silovs will get the starting nod on the road against the Flyers on Wednesday, Josh Yohe of The Athletic reports.

Silovs gets the nod over rookie Sergei Murashov in what could be a season-long battle for starts. In his 39 regular-season outings last year, the 25-year-old Silovs went 19-12-8 with a 3.07 GAA and two shutouts. Given the likelihood of a goalie rotation, Silovs figures to be a mid-range fantasy option.

  • Penguins' Arturs Silovs: Sharp in preseason finale

Silovs stopped 23 shots in Saturday's 3-1 preseason win over the Sabres.

A Ryan McLeod power-play tally in the third period spoiled his shutout bid, but Silovs still ended his preseason on a high note. The 25-year-old netminder is coming off a solid first season with the Penguins, going 19-12-8 in 39 appearances with a 3.07 GAA and .887 save percentage, but he could face a stiff challenge from Sergei Murashov for the top spot on the depth chart.

  • Penguins' Arturs Silovs: Starting preseason finale

Silovs will guard the road crease in Saturday's preseason contest against the Sabres, per Michelle Crechiolo of the Penguins' official site.

Silovs will get the nod to wrap up exhibition play, where he'll look to bounce back after allowing seven goals in Tuesday's 7-4 loss to the Red Wings. The 25-year-old backstop saw his largest volume in the NHL during the 2025-26 campaign and posted a 19-12-8 record, a 3.07 GAA and an .887 save percentage across 39 regular-season outings. As the goalie room's veteran, he might open the season as the No. 1 option, but Sergei Murashov will likely challenge him for playing time right out of the gate.

  • Penguins' Arturs Silovs: Guarding home crease Tuesday

Silovs will get the home start against Detroit for Tuesday's preseason contest, per Dan Potash of SportsNet Pittsburgh.

Head coach Dan Muse stated that Silovs will play the full game Tuesday. The 25-year-old netminder is coming off a solid first full campaign in the NHL, where he posted a 19-12-8 record, a 3.07 GAA and an .887 save percentage across 39 regular-season outings. Because the team chose to extend him in July to a one-year deal, he likely has an inside track to make the roster ahead of Opening Night. However, both Sergei Murashov and Joel Blomqvist will post challenges to his playing time, making Silovs a hit-or-miss fantasy option to begin the 2026-27 campaign.

  • Penguins' Arturs Silovs: Surrenders seven goals in preseason loss

Silovs allowed seven goals on 23 shots during Tuesday's 7-4 preseason loss to the Red Wings.

Silovs made his preseason debut after Sergei Murashov got the nod for Monday's preseason opener. Silovs wasn't particularly effective in the defeat, and he defended the crease for the entire game. He made 39 regular-season appearances with the Penguins last year, going 19-12-8 with a 3.07 GAA and an .887 save percentage. Silovs could still begin the 2026-27 campaign as Pittsburgh's primary netminder, though Sergei Murashov is expected to push for playing time.

  • Penguins' Arturs Silovs: Agrees to short-term deal

Silovs agreed to terms on a one-year, $2.8 million contract with the Penguins on Sunday.

Silovs made 39 appearances in his first year with the Penguins in 2025-26, posting a 19-12-8 record, 3.07 GAA and .887 save percentage. The Latvian netminder will certainly have to prove himself in 2026-27 to earn a longer contract next year, which might be difficult if Silovs can't command more playing time than Sergei Murashov and Joel Blomqvist, the latter of whom the Penguins signed to a two-year contract Sunday.

  • Penguins' Arturs Silovs: Heartbreaking OT loss in Game 6

Silovs made 31 saves Wednesday in the Penguins' 1-0 overtime loss to the Flyers in Game 6 of their first-round series.

The 25-year-old netminder did everything he could to force a Game 7 and keep Pittsburgh's campaign alive, but Cam York snapped a shot through traffic that glanced off the post and into the net with about two and a half minutes left in the first extra period, ending Silovs' goaltending duel with Dan Vladar. Silovs had an up-and-down regular season, but he shone after replacing Stuart Skinner between the pipes in the playoffs, allowing five goals on 82 shots (.939 save percentage) over three starts. Both goalies are free agents this offseason -- Skinner unrestricted and Silovs an RFA -- but with prospect Sergei Murashov potentially ready to make the leap to the NHL on a full-time basis in 2026-27, it's not clear if either veteran will be back in Pittsburgh next season.

  • Penguins' Arturs Silovs: Between pipes for Game 6

Silovs will tend the twine on the road against the Flyers in Game 6 on Wednesday, Sportsnet's Dan Potash reports.

Silovs has given up four goals on 50 shots (.920 save percentage) in two wins this postseason. The 25-year-old has become the No. 1 option between the pipes for head coach Dan Muse after Stuart Skinner went 0-3 in the first three games of the 2026 Stanley Cup Playoffs. Skinner surrendered nine goals on 71 shots.

  • Penguins' Arturs Silovs: Keeps Pens alive with Game 5 win

Silovs stopped 18 shots Monday in the Penguins' 3-2 win over the Flyers in Game 5 of their first-round series.

The 25-year-old netminder did squander an early 2-0 lead, but once Kris Letang put Pittsburgh back in front with a fluky tally late in the second period, Silovs shut the door. He's won two straight starts since replacing Stuart Skinner in the crease, allowing four goals on 50 shots (.920 save percentage), and he'll look to keep rolling in Game 5 on Wednesday back in Philadelphia as the Pens try to stave off elimination once again.

The 25-year-old Silovs did his job to keep the series alive, sending it back to Pittsburgh for Game 5 on Monday. He went 19-12-8 with a 3.07 GAA and an .887 save percentage over 39 regular-season outings. Silovs' win Saturday likely puts him in line to start the next game.

  • Penguins' Arturs Silovs: Drawing Game 5 start

Silovs was the first goalie off during Monday's morning skate, Michelle Crechiolo of the Penguins' official site reports, indicating that he'll draw the Game 5 start at home against the Flyers.

Silovs drew his first start of this year's playoffs during Saturday's Game 4 on the road, and he turned aside 28 of 30 shots (.933 save percentage) in a 4-2 victory to stave off elimination. Following Monday's win, he'll draw a second consecutive start in an attempt to force a Game 6. Silovs has picked up wins in four of his last six outings, going 4-2-0 with a 3.41 GAA and .878 save percentage during that time.

  • Penguins' Arturs Silovs: Tending twine in Game 4

Silovs will be between the road pipes against Philadelphia in Game 4 on Saturday, according to Josh Yohe of The Athletic.

The Penguins have their backs against the wall after going down 3-0 to the Flyers in the opening round of the playoffs. Stuart Skinner started each of those contests. Silovs was 19-12-8 with a 3.07 GAA and an .887 save percentage across 39 regular-season appearances in 2025-26. The Flyers have found the back of the net 11 times during the first three games of the series.
