  • Stars' Marc Methot: Out for season

Methot (lower body) had season-ending surgery to repair a cartilage defect in his left knee Monday.

Methot's season ends with him having played in only nine games and notching zero points. Of course, he has one goal in his last three campaigns, so that's not surprising. The 33-year-old may be ready to go by the time next season begins, but at this point his potential role in the NHL seems fairly limited.

  • Stars' Marc Methot: No timetable for return

Methor (lower body) hasn't skated yet and there is still no timetable for his return, Sean Shapiro of The Athletic reports.

Fantasy owners likely aren't losing sleep over Methot's return date, as the veteran defenseman has exactly one goal over the last three seasons. However, the Stars would surely like the opportunity to return him to the lineup. If he's not skating, it seems unlikely he will be back before the NHL takes its Christmas break.

  • Stars' Marc Methot: More testing ahead

Methot (lower body) will undergo further testing, but Stars coach Jim Montgomery isn't sure whether the defenseman will return before or after Christmas, Matthew DeFranks of The Dallas Morning News reports.

With all due respect to Methot, who is a solid shutdown defenseman, most fantasy owners won't be sweating out his status. He has only produced 123 points (22 goals, 101 assists) through 624 career games between the Blue Jackets, Senators and Stars.

  • Stars' Marc Methot: Moved to IR

Methot (lower body) is on injured reserve per the NHL's media site.

Methot last played Nov. 1, so it's safe to say the decision to place him on IR was made retroactive to Nov. 2. Assuming that is, in fact, true, the veteran defenseman is eligible to return whenever he is deemed healthy and ready to play. Methot has missed his team's last six games with a lower-body injury and is without a point in nine appearances so far in 2018-19.

  • Stars' Marc Methot: Unavailable Monday

Methot (lower body) won't be in the lineup against Columbus on Monday, Sean Shapiro of The Athletic reports.

Methot hasn't played since Nov. 1 due to his lower-body issue, a stretch of five games. When healthy, the blueliner is averaging a career-low 16:56 of ice time and is still looking for his first point of the 2018-19 campaign. Despite his reduced minutes, the Ontario native should still crack the lineup on a regular basis once given the all-clear to play.

  • Stars' Marc Methot: Remains out of lineup

Methot (lower body) will not return to action versus San Jose on Thursday, Matthew DeFranks of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Methot will miss his fourth consecutive game due to his lower-body problem. Not exactly a fantasy stud, the blueliner is still looking for his first point of the 2018-19 campaign and figures to have a ceiling around 20 points -- a threshold he's cracked just once in his NHL career. Dillon Heatherington will continue to hold down a spot on the blue line in Methot's absence.

  • Stars' Marc Methot: Remains sidelined

Methot (lower body) won't play Tuesday against Columbus, Mike Heika of the Stars' official site reports.

Methot will miss a third consecutive game Tuesday, and the Stars have yet to release a projected timetable for his return to action. Either way, fantasy owners shouldn't need to concern themselves with his availability, as he's only totaled three points in 45 appearances over the past two seasons, and isn't a viable option in most formats.

  • Stars' Marc Methot: Won't play Monday

Methot (lower body) is out against the Bruins on Monday, Matthew DeFranks of the Dallas News reports.

The veteran defenseman has zero points through nine games, and has only put three shots on goal, so he's not necessarily relied upon for his offense. This will be Methot's second game missed with this injury, and it seems unlikely that he will be ready to go Tuesday against the Blue Jackets as well.

  • Stars' Marc Methot: Slated to miss Monday's matchup

Methot (lower body) is not expected to be available against the Bruins on Monday, Mike Heika of the Stars' official site reports.

Methot is dealing with a Mike Heika of the Stars' official site lower-body issue that will cause him to miss a second straight outing. Considering the blueliner managed just three points last season and has yet to write his name on the scoresheet in 2018-19, his absence in unlikely to be noticed by the bulk of fantasy owners. Dillon Heatherington figures to continue deputizing in Methot's stead.

  • Stars' Marc Methot: Out Saturday

Methot (lower body) won't play Saturday against Washington, Mike Heika of the Stars' official site reports.

Methot is reportedly just dealing with general soreness, so he shouldn't be sidelined for long. Another update on the veteran blueliner's status should surface ahead of Monday's matchup with the Bruins.

  • Stars' Marc Methot: Set to go Tuesday

Methot (lower body) will be in the lineup against Montreal on Tuesday, Mike Heika of the Stars' official site reports.

Mehot will return following a two-game stint on the sidelines due to his lower-body problem. The defenseman is still looking for his first point of the 2018-19 campaign -- though that shouldn't come as a huge surprise considering offensive productivity has never been his strong suit. Expected to be paired up with Miro Heiskanen, the veteran's defensive prowess could free the youngster up to contribute on the scoresheet.

  • Stars' Marc Methot: Out again

Methot (lower body) won't play Sunday against Detroit, Mike Heika of the Stars' official site reports.

This marks the second consecutive missed game for Methot as he deals with a lower-body injury. The 33-year-old was actually expected to return Sunday, so the injury seems to be somewhat minor and he'll have a chance to make a comeback Tuesday in Montreal.

  • Stars' Marc Methot: Ruled out against Anaheim

Methot will miss Thursday's matchup with the Ducks due to an undisclosed injury, Sean Shapiro of The Athletic reports.

While Methot's absence could have an ancillary effect on the rest of the blue line, the direct fantasy impact of him being unavailable should be minimal, considering he has zero points in seven games and has broken the 20-point threshold just once in his career. Julius Honka will jump into the lineup in Methot's absence, although the veteran is expected to be back against Detroit on Sunday.

  • Stars' Marc Methot: Back in action Friday

Methot (undisclosed) will return to the lineup Friday against the Wild, Sean Shapiro of The Athletic reports.

Methot missed Tuesday's game against New Jersey while battling general soreness, so it's not too surprising that he's back in the fold for the Stars after some additional rest. The veteran blueliner has yet to capture a point this season and recorded just three over 36 games all of last season, so there's little upside with him in regards to fantasy leagues.

  • Stars' Marc Methot: Unavailable Tuesday

Method won't play Tuesday against New Jersey due to general soreness, Matthew DeFranks of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Methot's issue isn't expected to keep him sidelined for long, so it wouldn't be surprising to see him back in action Friday against the Wild. The 33-year-old blueliner has gone scoreless while posting a minus-3 rating through the first five games of the campaign.

  • Stars' Marc Methot: Three points in first season with Dallas

Methot lit the lamp once and had an assist throughout 36 games in 2017-18, while averaging 17:53 of ice time.

Prior to 2017-18, Methot had secured 10-points in each of his last five seasons, so the drop in production was surprising even though he managed just 36 contests. It seems likely injuries were what really limited the 32-year-old, as he had a knee injury that sapped him from November until February and had hand issues late in the season as well, which is especially unfortunate after he lost a finger to a Sidney Crosby cross-check last season. When on the ice Methot still was strong defensively, as he put up a plus-11 rating and 77 hits throughout his shortened season. The 32-year-old is due back for another season in Dallas, likely slotting into the second or third defensive pairing.

  • Stars' Marc Methot: Will play Friday

Methot (hand) will rejoin the lineup for Friday's game against the Bruins, Mark Stepneski of the Stars' official site reports.

Methot participated fully in Thursday's practice session, leading to speculation that he would rejoin the lineup for Friday's matchup. That will indeed be the case, as he slots back into alongside Stephen Johns. However, the veteran's availability shouldn't have much of an impact from a fantasy standpoint, given his one point -- an assist -- through 28 games.

  • Stars' Marc Methot: Possibly returning Friday

Methot (hand) turned in a full practice Thursday, and there's speculation that he could return Friday night against the Bruins, Mark Stepneski of the Stars' official site reports.

You have to feel for Methot, as the 32-year-old defenseman has been limited to 28 games in his debut season with the Stars, with significant knee and hand injuries to blame. The own-zone patroller has only one point (an assist) in 2017-18, so it's safe to say that his eventual activation won't cause a stir in the fantasy realm.

  • Stars' Marc Methot: Remains sidelined

Methot (hand) will miss a fourth consecutive game Tuesday against the Capitals, Mike Heika of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Methot's absence will continue to test the Stars' depth at defense, but it won't impact many fantasy lineups, as he's only notched one assist in 28 contests this campaign. Dallas should release another update on the veteran's status once he's given the green light to return to the lineup.

  • Stars' Marc Methot: Held out again Sunday

Methot (hand) won't be in the lineup against Winnipeg on Sunday, Mike Heika of The Dallas Morning News.

Methot's recent injury will now cost him three games, but he hasn't found much of a concrete role in his first season in Dallas regardless, as he's only skated for 28 total games. Methot's also on pace for a career low in points as well -- he's only totaled one assist thus far in 2017-18 -- and his next chance to draw into the lineup will be Tuesday against Washington.
