Islanders' Kashawn Aitcheson: Three-point showing Friday
Aitcheson scored twice and added an assist in OHL Barrie's 6-3 loss to Sudbury on Friday.
Aitcheson has earned nine goals and six helpers over eight games in November. That's half of his 18 goals and 30 points on the year, which he's earned in 23 total appearances. The Islanders prospect has displayed electric talent and a physical edge this season, so it may not take him long to ascend the ranks to the NHL.

Islanders' Kashawn Aitcheson: Hat trick Friday
Aitcheson scored three goals in OHL Barrie's 6-3 win over Sudbury on Friday.
Aitcheson has a good chance to be the OHL Player of the Week come Monday, as he has torched Sudbury with six points over the last two games. The defenseman is now at 15 goals and 23 points in 18 games for the Colts this year, extending his lead among OHL defenders in goals scored. Aitcheson looks to be a tantalizing prospect for the Islanders, and he's getting better by the game.

Islanders' Kashawn Aitcheson: Puts up three more points for Colts
Aitcheson scored a goal and added two assists in OHL Barrie's 6-2 win over Sudbury on Thursday.
Aitcheson logged his second multi-point effort in a row and has extended his point streak to five games. The defenseman is providing elite offense in the OHL with 12 goals and eight assists through 17 contests this season. Those 12 goals are five more than the next closest blueliner, Kings prospect and OHL London defenseman Henry Brzustewicz. Aitcheson's offense might be better than initially expected, though time will tell if that gives him top-pairing potential at the NHL level.

Islanders' Kashawn Aitcheson: Scores twice in OHL win
Aitcheson scored two goals on six shots in OHL Barrie's 4-2 win over Erie on Saturday.
Aitcheson has five goals and one assist during a four-game point streak. The 19-year-old defenseman is showing some serious scoring chops with 11 goals and 17 points through 16 appearances this season. He had 26 goals and 59 points over 64 regular-season outings in 2024-25, but he appears to have taken another step, which is exactly what the Islanders want to see out of one of their top prospects.

Islanders' Kashawn Aitcheson: Quick impact in juniors
Aitcheson was named the OHL Player of the Week on Monday.
Aitcheson has been back in the junior ranks for just under two weeks and already has a weekly award to his name. He posted five goals and an assist over three games for OHL Barrie this past week after returning to the Colts following his stint at the Islanders' camp. The 19-year-old blueliner looks poised to continue dominating the OHL after a 59-point campaign in 64 regular-season outings last year.

Islanders' Kashawn Aitcheson: Sent back to juniors
Aitcheson was reassigned to OHL Barrie on Wednesday.
Aitcheson's demotion before the start of the season does come as a bit of a surprise, considering the team could have given him a handful of games in the NHL before shipping him off to the OHL. Last season, the 19-year-old blueliner notched 26 goals and 33 helpers in 64 regular-season games with the Colts, numbers he should be capable of exceeding this year. Look for Aitcheson to make the Opening Night roster ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.

Islanders' Kashawn Aitcheson: Playing versus New Jersey
Aitcheson (lower body) will be in the lineup versus the Devils on Tuesday, Stefen Rosner of NHL.com reports.
There was concern for Aitcheson's availability after he needed to be helped off the ice in Sunday's matchup with Philadelphia, but it seems the young blueliner was able to bounce back quickly. While he may not be a lock, Aitcheson is certainly battling for a spot on the Opening Night roster versus the Penguins on Oct. 9. It's also possible the team gives him a nine-game look to open the season before sending him back to juniors.

Islanders' Kashawn Aitcheson: Day-to-day with lower-body injury
Head coach Patrick Roy said after Sunday's preseason game against the Flyers that Aitcheson is day-to-day with a lower-body injury, Andrew Gross of Newsday reports.
Aitcheson exited Sunday's exhibition after taking a hard hit from Noah Juulsen. However, Roy said that Aitcheson is "fine," so it seems unlikely that the issue will impact the defenseman's availability for the start of the regular season. Whether Aitcheson will be able to suit up in Tuesday's preseason game against the Devils remains to be seen.

Islanders' Kashawn Aitcheson: Headed back to OHL
Aitcheson will not go the collegiate route this season, instead staying with OHL Barrie for another year, Stefen Rosner of NHL.com reports Thursday.
Aitcheson, who was selected 17th overall in the 2025 NHL Draft, could get a look during training camp by going the junior route instead of college. If he impresses enough, it's possible the Islanders will hand him an entry-level deal, which would give him the opportunity to play in a handful of games this season -- though he is unlikely to be a full-time NHL option. Either way, don't be surprised to see Aitcheson competing for a roster spot in the lead-up to the 2026-27 season.
