Top Blackhawks News

  • Blackhawks' Ryan Donato: First goal of season

Donato scored a goal in Saturday's 4-3 loss to the Sabres.

He put the Hawks up 1-0 in the first period with a nice shot from the slot that beat Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen. Donato's ice time was limited to 9:25, and he had one shot and one hit. Two seasons ago, he delivered a whopping 62 points, including 31 goals, for Chicago, but that was lightning in a bottle. Donato can play up the lineup with the likes of Connor Bedard (shoulder), but he can't carry a line. Last season, he delivered 30 points (15 goals, 15 assists) while averaging 14:44.

  • Blackhawks' Oliver Moore: Snaps home goal Saturday

Moore scored a goal in Saturday's 4-3 loss to Buffalo.

Moore, who is centering the Hawks' third line, is looking to build on his 19-point (five goals, 14 assists) effort in 51 games in 2025-26. His role will change once Connor Bedard (shoulder) returns, so now is the time to make a strong impression. Moore's short-term fantasy value isn't high, but he's just 21 years old. His time will come.

  • Blackhawks' Tyler Bertuzzi: Gets first goal of season

Bertuzzi scored a goal Saturday in a 4-3 loss to Buffalo.

He had one shot and two hits in 16:18 of ice time. Bertuzzi provides the Hawks strong veteran leadership, and he is coming off a near career-high 58 points, including 32 goals, last year. At 31, Bert can't carry this team, especially with Connor Bedard (shoulder) still out. He may be a bit of a buy-low early this season as a result, so monitor him. His production will go up when Bedard returns.

  • Blackhawks' Alex Vlasic: Gets two helpers in loss

Vlasic picked two apples in a 4-3 loss to Buffalo on Saturday.

This is going to be a long season for Vlasic and so many of the Hawks' young players. The team was outscored 11-2 in its first two games this season, and while Saturday was better, the Hawks only mustered 15 shots. Vlasic's best season came in 2024-25 when he posted 30 points, including 12 on the power play, in 82 games. He'll be counted on for strong own-zone play this season, so his fantasy value will be limited.

  • Blackhawks' Spencer Knight: Gets more help than in opener

Knight made 24 saves in a 4-3 loss to Buffalo on Saturday.

Knight got more support than he did against Vegas in the season opener, but it still wasn't enough. Knight is going to see a lot of rubber this season and wins are going to be tough as the young team in front of him starts to grow up. His talent is obvious -- he delivered above-average GAA (2.82) and save percentage (.902) last season. Your format will dictate if Knight is a strong third goalie, average second or a complete anchor on your fantasy squad.

  • Blackhawks' Anton Frondell: Two apples Saturday

Frondell picked up two assists Saturday in a 4-3 loss to Buffalo.

This season has been tough on the entire Hawks squad. They were outscored 11-2 in losses to Vegas and Utah in their first two contests this season, and they mustered just 15 shots at Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen on Saturday. Frondell played 16:06 and had one shot and one hit against the Sabres. The assists are his first points this season. The team compete level was far better Saturday than earlier in the week, and Frondell's job will get easier when Connor Bedard (shoulder) returns. Until then, temper expectations -- no individual player can lift an entire team.

  • Blackhawks' Nathan Behm: Two goals Saturday

Behm scored twice in Arizona State University's 9-6 loss to Lindenwood University on Saturday.

This was Behm's second collegiate game. He had 38 goals, 48 assists and a plus-10 rating over 67 regular-season appearances with WHL Kamloops last year. Behm is a 2025 third-round pick of the Blackhawks, and he should continue to drive offense during his time in the NCAA.

  • Blackhawks' Spencer Knight: Back in action Saturday

Knight will defend the road crease in Thursday's clash against the Sabres, per Vinnie Parise of The Hockey News.

Knight will get back between the pipes Saturday looking to bounce back from his Opening Night loss to the Golden Knights on Tuesday. He allowed four goals in the 5-2 loss, but managed to stop 32 shots in the effort. The 25-year-old backstop showed strong flashes of play in 2025-26, where he posted a 19-25-11 record, a 2.82 GAA, a .902 save percentage and three shutouts across 55 regular-season outings. He'll look to earn his first win of the new campaign against the Sabres, who faltered in a 6-3 loss Thursday.

  • Blackhawks' Bowen Byram: Unavailable Saturday

Byram is attending to a family matter and won't play against Buffalo on Saturday, Ben Pope of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Byram has gone without a point in two games this season, but he has contributed three blocked shots and a minus-4 rating. With Byram out for at least one game and Sam Rinzel a healthy scratch, Kevin Korchinski and Ethan Del Mastro will play against the Sabres on Saturday.

  • Blackhawks' Arvid Soderblom: On wrong side of shutout

Soderblom allowed six goals on 32 shots in Thursday's 6-0 loss to the Mammoth.

Soderblom didn't put in a great showing, but the Blackhawks' defense didn't do him in any favors. With a young blue line in front of him, it could be rough early in the season. Soderblom also hasn't logged a save percentage better than .898 in any of his NHL campaigns, so it's unlikely he'll be able to steal a game when his teammates are off their game. The Blackhawks wrap up their season-opening road trip in Buffalo on Saturday, which will likely be a start for Spencer Knight.

  • Blackhawks' Arvid Soderblom: Expected to face Utah

Soderblom is slated to start on the road against Utah on Thursday, per Ben Pope of the Chicago Sun-Times.

Soderblom is drawing into Chicago's second game of the season after Spencer Knight stopped 32 of 36 shots en route to a 5-2 loss to Vegas on Tuesday. Knight's likely to get the majority of Chicago's workload this campaign, but Soderblom should end up accumulating over 25 starts in 2026-27. The 27-year-old Soderblom finished the 2025-26 regular season with an 8-13-3 record, 3.80 GAA and .880 save percentage in 26 outings.

  • Blackhawks' Jordan Greenway: Tallies in team debut

Greenway scored a goal on five shots and added three hits in Tuesday's 5-2 loss to the Golden Knights.

Greenway was the other player acquired in the Blackhawks' trade for Bowen Byram in June. It's a fresh start for Greenway, who seemed to spend more time injured than healthy during his parts of four campaigns in Buffalo. He was limited to just 14 points over 74 regular-season appearances over the previous two years combined. The 29-year-old started his Chicago tenure in a fourth-line role, but if he can stay healthy, he should challenge for around 20 points with a decent share of hits and PIM.

  • Blackhawks' Patrick Kane: Opens second Chicago stint with goal

Kane scored a goal on four shots and added two hits in Tuesday's 5-2 loss to the Golden Knights.

Kane cashed in on a turnover in the third period. While the Blackhawks lost, it was likely enjoyable and nostalgic to see No. 88 in a Chicago sweater again. The 37-year-old winger signed a two-year deal in July and will serve as a top-six option as well as a mentor for the next generation of Blackhawks. Kane's past his peak on offense but has still chipped in at least 47 points in each of his last four campaigns despite missing time in each of those seasons. The playmaker is still productive enough to be a depth option in fantasy, particularly in formats that value power-play production.

... See More ... See Less
  • Blackhawks' Spencer Knight: Tough outing in Vegas

Knight stopped 32 of 36 shots in Tuesday's 5-2 loss to the Golden Knights. The fifth goal was an empty-netter.

The Blackhawks got off to a slow start, and they weren't able to recover from that. Knight is capable of maintaining solid ratios after posting a 2.82 GAA and a .902 save percentage over 55 games a year ago in his first full campaign for Chicago. However, since the Blackhawks are still wrapping up their rebuild, wins will likely be hard for the 25-year-old to come by for most of the campaign. Knight's fantasy value will come from consistent playing time rather than results. The Blackhawks' road trip continues in Utah on Thursday.

  • Blackhawks' Andrew Mangiapane: Out for rest of road trip

Mangiapane sustained a lower-body injury Tuesday versus the Golden Knights that will keep him out for at least the next two games, Mark Lazerus of The Athletic reports.

Mangiapane was pulled from the Blackhawks' season opener after getting hurt in the second period. With his absence set to span the rest of Chicago's season-opening road trip, the door is open for Teuvo Teravainen to get into the lineup. Mangiapane will likely be evaluated when the team gets back to Chicago, but the earliest he'll be back in the lineup is next Tuesday versus the Blues.
