Bryce Miller SEA SP
Mariners' Bryce Miller: Part of piggyback plan Friday
7m agoMariners general manager said Tuesday that Miller will start Friday's game against the Red Sox and will be piggybacked by Luis Castillo, Adam Jude of The Seattle Times reports.
Miller and Castillo both made standalone starts in their last two appearances as part of a six-man rotation, but the two will be deployed in tandem Friday while Seattle shifts back to a five-man setup. The Mariners previously deployed Miller and Castillo in a piggyback arrangement on three other occasions back in May, with Miller working between five and 5.2 innings in those contests while logging a 1.15 ERA and 0.57 WHIP. Expect Miller to handle a similar workload Friday, with Jude noting that the right-hander will be limited to around 75-to-80 pitches before turning the ball over to Castillo. Hollander relayed that all six of the team's starters will rotate through and have one piggyback outing until the All-Star break, so Miller and Castillo will likely be separated and make traditional starts when their turn in the pitching schedule comes up next week.

Carson Whisenhunt SF P
Giants' Carson Whisenhunt: Sent down after spot start
1h agoThe Giants optioned Whisenhunt to Triple-A Sacramento on Thursday.
Whisenhunt made a spot start Wednesday in Atlanta and picked up the win, allowing two runs over five frames. The left-hander will rejoin the rotation at Sacramento, where he's collected a 3.65 ERA and 77:30 K:BB over 69 innings this season. Whisenhunt could be the first name called when the Giants need another starter again.
-
Brett Kerry LAA RP
Angels' Brett Kerry: Sent back to Salt Lake
1h agoThe Angels optioned Kerry to Triple-A Salt Lake on Thursday.
Kerry made his major-league debut Wednesday in Arizona, covering four innings and yielding two runs out of the bullpen. The Angels will likely add a fresh bullpen arm later Thursday to take Kerry's spot on the roster.
-
Logan Porter LAA C
Angels' Logan Porter: Optioned to Triple-A
1h agoThe Angels optioned Porter to Triple-A Salt Lake on Thursday.
He's clearing out to make space on the roster for Tyler Heineman, who was acquired via trade to serve as Logan O'Hoppe's backup catcher. Porter went 1-for-4 with a double during his brief time in the big leagues.
-
Jair Camargo ATL C
Braves' Jair Camargo: Sent back to minors
1h agoAtlanta optioned Camargo to Triple-A Gwinnett on Thursday.
Camargo was the 27th man on the roster Wednesday and went 1-for-2 with a double in the nightcap versus the Giants. He returns to Gwinnett, where the 26-year-old has a .581 OPS with two home runs this season.
-
Chris Roycroft STL RP
Cardinals' Chris Roycroft: Optioned back to Memphis
1h agoThe Cardinals optioned Roycroft to Triple-A Memphis on Thursday.
Roycroft made two appearances during his most recent stint in the majors, getting tagged for four runs over 1.2 innings. He's posted a 15.19 ERA in seven outings in the majors this season. The Cardinals will announce a corresponding roster move prior to Thursday's game versus the Royals.

Hunter Goodman COL C
Rockies' Hunter Goodman: Smacks two-run homer
10h agoGoodman went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's 8-6 loss to the Cubs.
Goodman wrapped up the Rockies' six-game road trip with a homer. He went 8-for-25 (.320) with three homers and six RBI during the trip. For the season, the catcher has batted .251 with an .858 OPS, 21 long balls, 39 RBI, 46 runs scored, 12 doubles and five stolen bases over 69 contests. The Rockies continue to have three catchers on the roster, allowing Goodman to get some turns at designated hitter to keep his strong bat in the lineup nearly every day.
-
Tyler Heineman LAA C
Angels' Tyler Heineman: Traded to Angels
15h agoToronto traded Heineman to the Angels for cash considerations on Wednesday.
After recently being designated for assignment to make room for Alejandro Kirk, Toronto has decided to ship Heineman off to the Angels. In 87 plate appearances for the Blue Jays, the 35-year-old batted just .154/.205/.205 with one homer and six RBI. The defense-first catcher will be inserted as the backup behind Logan O'Hoppe while Travis d'Arnaud (foot) and Sebastian Rivero (hand) are on the IL.
-
Carter Jensen KC C
Royals' Carter Jensen: Huge day in Wednesday's win
16h agoJensen went 4-for-4 with a walk, a double, a solo home run and a stolen base in Wednesday's 6-2 win over the Nationals.
The 22-year-old backstop set the tone for the afternoon when he drove the fourth pitch he saw from Zack Littell over the fence in the right-field corner, the first of four long balls by Kansas City. It was the first four-hit performance of Jensen's career, and it extended his current hit streak to nine games, a stretch in which he's batting .361 (13-for-36) with five doubles, two homers, seven runs and nine RBI. Wednesday's steal was also his first in the majors in his 88th game, but Jensen's flashed some base-stealing acumen in the minors, going 10-for-11 on steal attempts over 103 games last season and 17-for-20 over 124 games in 2024.
-
Daniel Susac SF C
Giants' Daniel Susac: Out of Wednesday's lineup
17h agoSusac is not in the lineup for Wednesday's matchup against Atlanta, reports Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle.
Susac will ride the bench Wednesday after going 0-for-4 with a strikeout during Tuesday's matchup against Atlanta. Eric Haase will replace Susac in the field at catcher and bat ninth.
-
Spencer Horwitz PIT 1B
Pirates' Spencer Horwitz: Scores three runs
8h agoHorwitz went 2-for-4 with two walks, two doubles, one RBI and three runs scored Wednesday against the A's.
Horwitz helped the Pirates jump out to an early lead with a double in each of his first two plate appearances, and he came around to score on each occasion. This marked his fourth multi-hit game in his last 10 starts, during which he's hit .275 with two homers, six RBI and seven runs scored. Horwitz also continues to serve as Pittsburgh's primary leadoff hitter against righties.
-
Freddie Freeman LAD 1B
Dodgers' Freddie Freeman: Goes deep in win
13h agoFreeman went 1-for-2 with a two-run home run, a walk and an additional run scored in Wednesday's 5-4 win over the Rays.
Freeman came up clutch with what proved to be a game-winning two-run shot in the sixth inning. The veteran slugger has gone deep twice in his past four games, tallying a hit in each of those contests. On the season, he's slashing .279/.368/.482 with 12 home runs, 40 RBI, 41 runs scored and two steals across 315 plate appearances.
-
Rhys Hoskins CLE 1B
Guardians' Rhys Hoskins: Claiming sixth straight start
17h agoHoskins will start at designated hitter and bat cleanup Wednesday against the Brewers.
Hoskins appeared to be stuck in the short side of a platoon with Kyle Manzardo to begin June, but the former will have a clearer path to an everyday role after the Guardians placed all of Jose Ramirez (hand), Chase DeLauter (rib) and Angel Martinez (foot) on the injured list within the past four days. The Guardians will include Hoskins in the lineup for a sixth straight game after he went 3-for-20 with two doubles and a run scored in his prior five starts.
-
Josh Naylor SEA 1B
Mariners' Josh Naylor: Out again Wednesday
17h agoNaylor (shin/wrist) isn't in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Orioles.
As expected, Naylor will miss a second consecutive start following his removal from Sunday's game while he continues to recover from shin and wrist injuries. However, manager Dan Wilson said Wednesday that he expects Naylor to return to the lineup Thursday, per Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times, so the first baseman doesn't seem to be at risk of spending time on the IL. Miles Mastrobuoni will start at first Wednesday and bat ninth.
-
Jacob Gonzalez CHW 1B
White Sox's Jacob Gonzalez: Sitting out versus lefty
19h agoGonzalez is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Yankees.
The White Sox are giving the left-handed-hitting Gonzalez a breather as the Yankees send southpaw Carlos Rodon to the bump. Miguel Vargas will handle first base for the White Sox.
-
Nolan Schanuel LAA 1B
Angels' Nolan Schanuel: Sitting out versus left-hander
20h agoSchanuel is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's contest in Arizona.
The left-handed-hitting Schanuel is slashing only .185/.274/.259 versus lefty hurlers this season, so he'll take a seat as the Diamondbacks send southpaw Eduardo Rodriguez to the bump. Vaughn Grissom will cover first base for the Angels.
-
Isiah Kiner-Falefa BOS 2B
Red Sox's Isiah Kiner-Falefa: Logs two steals in loss
1h agoKiner-Falefa started at third base and went 1-for-2 with two walks and two stolen bases in Wednesday's 3-0 loss to the Blue Jays.
Kiner-Falefa put himself in scoring position a couple of times, but the Red Sox continued a dismal run of failing to produce with RISP -- Boston's gone 1-for-24 in those situations and left 26 runners on base in the first two games of the series. Kiner-Falefa unexpectedly has become a lineup regular for Boston, having started 18 of the last 19 games at second base, shortstop and third base. A combination of Trevor Story's abdomen injury and Caleb Durbin's inconsistent bat have led to Kiner-Falefa's regularity in starting nines. He's gone 19-for-65 (.292) with three extra-base hits, six RBI, seven walks, four steals and 12 runs scored during that stretch.
-
Ketel Marte ARI 2B
Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Hits in seven straight
2h agoMarte went 2-for-4 with a double, two RBI and a run scored in Wednesday's 8-1 win over the Angels. He was also hit by a pitch.
Marte's first-inning single extended a hit streak to seven contests, during which he's gone 10-for-29 (.345) with three doubles, three RBI and three runs scored. Arizona's primary leadoff batter leads the club with 43 RBI through 70 games.
-
Cole Young SEA 2B
Mariners' Cole Young: Homers in Wednesday's loss
9h agoYoung went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 5-3 loss to the Orioles.
Young went back-to-back with Dominic Canzone in the ninth inning to cut the deficit to two runs, but the Mariners didn't get any closer. Young has hit well in June, going 19-for-64 (.297) over 15 games. The second baseman is now hitting .256 on the year with a .684 OPS, six homers, 33 RBI, 32 runs scored, two stolen bases, 10 doubles and a triple over 75 contests. He's made noticeable improvements compared to last season, mainly in the power and contact departments.
-
Jackson Holliday BAL 2B
Orioles' Jackson Holliday: Pops solo shot in win
9h agoHolliday went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, a walk and a second run scored in Wednesday's 5-3 win over the Mariners.
Holliday had gone 0-for-12 with six strikeouts over his previous four games. He was well on his way to another poor performance before his ninth-inning homer. The infielder hasn't logged a multi-hit effort since May 29 versus the Blue Jays, but he continues to see a starting role at second base. Holliday is batting .195 with a .671 OPS, four homers, 12 RBI, 13 runs scored, one double, one triple and three stolen bases over 26 contests.
-
Luis Arraez SF 2B
Giants' Luis Arraez: Rare homer in win
10h agoArraez went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run, four RBI, an additional run scored and a stolen base in the 7-5 win over Atlanta on Wednesday.
Arraez crushed a home run to the Chop House of Truist Park in the second inning of Wednesday's game. This was only Arraez's third homer of the season, and first since May 17. The 29-year-old is second in the National League in batting average with a .326 average, driving in 30 runs and scoring 37 while batting leadoff for most of the year.
-
Willi Castro COL 2B
Rockies' Willi Castro: Out of Wednesday's lineup
18h agoCastro is not in the lineup for Wednesday's contest against the Cubs.
Castro had started each of the previous nine games, but he'll get a breather during Wednesday's series finale. Edouard Julien is garnering the start at second base in Castro's stead.
-
Ke'Bryan Hayes CIN 3B
Reds' Ke'Bryan Hayes: Begins hitting
2h agoHayes (back) has begun hitting at the Reds' training facility in Arizona, MLB.com reports.
Hayes is also working to improve core stabilization with an eye toward preventing continued issues with the back. He's served the 10-day minimum requirement on the injured list and can be activated at any time, but the report indicates his return as to be determined.
-
Zack Gelof ATH 3B
Athletics' Zack Gelof: Keeps streak alive with homer
8h agoGelof went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 12-4 loss to the Pirates.
Gelof's hitting streak was on the line, but he extended it to 21 games with a ninth-inning solo shot. He's now 30-for-82 (.366) with five homers and 12 RBI during the streak. The infielder is hitting .286 with an .843 OPS, 11 homers, 29 RBI, 35 runs scored and eight stolen bases over 58 contests this season.
-
Blaze Alexander BAL 3B
Orioles' Blaze Alexander: Gets on base four times
9h agoAlexander went 3-for-3 with a walk and a run scored in Wednesday's 5-3 win over the Mariners.
Alexander made his fourth straight start at third base as he continues to take control of a starting role. He's earned it with five multi-hit efforts over his last nine games, a span in which he has gone 13-for-25 (.520) with four doubles and three RBI. The infielder is now batting .310 with a .788 OPS, two home runs, 19 RBI, 20 runs scored, 10 doubles, one triple and seven stolen bases over 175 plate appearances this season.
-
Kyle Karros COL 3B
Rockies' Kyle Karros: Adds homer in loss
10h agoKarros went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 8-6 loss to the Cubs.
Karros went deep in the ninth inning, but the Rockies couldn't build a rally after his homer. The third baseman had gone 15 games without a long ball, but he hit .370 (17-for-46) in that span. He's logged six multi-hit efforts over 15 contests in June to keep a steady place in the lineup as the starting third baseman. Karros is batting .249 with a .716 OPS, four homers, 20 RBI, 33 runs scored, 12 doubles, one triple and two stolen bases across 71 games this season.
-
Ryan McMahon NYY 3B
Yankees' Ryan McMahon: Out against lefty
17h agoMcMahon is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the White Sox.
The Yankees will go with a right-handed-heavy lineup to counter White Sox southpaw Anthony Kay, so McMahon will retreat to the bench along with fellow left-handed hitters Spencer Jones and J.C. Escarra. Amed Rosario will step in for McMahon at third base and will bat third.
-
Caleb Durbin BOS 3B
Red Sox's Caleb Durbin: Taking seat Wednesday
20h agoDurbin is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Blue Jays.
The Red Sox will go with Isiah Kiner-Falefa at third base while Durbin exits the lineup for the first time since May 27, ending a stretch of 16 consecutive starts for the 26-year-old infielder. After a brutal start to the season, Durbin began to catch fire at the plate upon returning to the lineup May 28, slashing .341/.348/.636 with two home runs, one stolen base, six runs and nine RBI over his ensuing 12 starts. However, Durbin's move to the bench Wednesday comes while he's gone hitless in 14 at-bats in his last four starts.
-
Gunnar Henderson BAL SS
Orioles' Gunnar Henderson: Opens scoring with homer
9h agoHenderson went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's 5-3 win over the Mariners.
After opening June with no homers or RBI over 10 games, Henderson has two long balls and four RBI across his last five contests. The shortstop opened the scoring when he took George Kirby deep in the third inning. Henderson is batting .225 with a .713 OPS, 15 homers, 36 RBI, 40 runs scored, six stolen bases, 13 doubles and a triple over 74 contests this season. He's just two homers shy of his total from last year, but the rest of his numbers are level or a bit down compared to 2025.
-
Mauricio Dubon ATL SS
Braves' Mauricio Dubon: Blasts homer in loss
10h agoDubon went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's 7-5 loss to the Giants.
Dubon hit a line drive over the wall in left-center off of Matt Gage in the ninth to make the score 7-4 and got Atlanta back in this game. The super-utility man extended his hitting streak to seven games, and this was his first homer during this stretch. Dubon led off this game and had a rare start in center field as he usually mans left field or shortstop.
-
Willy Adames SF SS
Giants' Willy Adames: Home run in win
10h agoAdames went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in the 7-5 win over Atlanta on Wednesday.
Adames smacked his twelfth homer of the season off of JR Ritchie in the second inning with a deep drive to left field. Adames has now homered in back-to-back games, breaking up a 1-for-28 stretch over the previous seven games.
-
Cooper Pratt MIL SS
Brewers' Cooper Pratt: First MLB hit and RBI in win
11h agoPratt went 2-for-4 with an RBI, run scored and stolen base in the 9-4 win over the Guardians on Wednesday.
Pratt achieved his first ever hit in the second inning against Gavin Williams with a single to right in his first at-bat of the game. The rookie then lined a ball to right to drive a run home in the eighth to bring the score to 9-4. The 21-year-old has started at shortstop and batted eighth in the batting order his first two game with the ball club.
-
Dansby Swanson CHC SS
Cubs' Dansby Swanson: Hits first home run since May
11h agoSwanson went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's 8-6 win over the Rockies
Swanson has been in a miserable funk at the plate, but he showed some signs of life with his eighth home run of the season Wednesday. It was the shortstop's first long ball since May 18, a span of 24 games. In the time since then, Swanson was batting just .135 with a .414 OPS and a lone RBI. It will take a few more good games for fantasy managers to begin to trust that the veteran is out of his slump.
-
Colson Montgomery CHW SS
White Sox's Colson Montgomery: Posts first career multi-homer game
12h agoMontgomery went 2-for-4 with two home runs and four RBI in Wednesday's 10-5 loss to the Yankees.
It was the first career multi-homer game for Montgomery, who socked a pair of two-run shots Wednesday. The slugging infielder has tallied just seven hits in 40 at-bats during June, but six have gone for extra bases this month. Through 288 trips to the plate, Montgomery is slashing .225/.319/.502 with 19 big flies, 13 doubles, 44 RBI and 35 runs scored while hitting primarily for power.
-
David Fry CLE RF
Guardians' David Fry: Works in right field again
2h agoFry started in right field and went 0-for-4 in Wednesday's 9-4 loss to Milwaukee.
As the Guardians learned that Chase DeLauter (ribs) would be unable to play through his injury and added him to the 10-day injured, Fry filled the spot in right field the last two games. It's unclear if that will be the permanent solution. Cleveland called up prospect Kahlil Watson on Wednesday, and he should be part of the mix. Besides having Watson around now, manager Stephen Vogt likes having Fry in a utility role.
-
J.J. Bleday CIN LF
Reds' JJ Bleday: Produces lone run in loss
2h agoBleday went 0-for-2 with a walk and an RBI in Wednesday's 9-1 loss to the Mets.
Bleday's second-inning sacrifice fly was all the Reds could muster. He's shown a penchant for delivering with runners in scoring position, posting a .915 OPS and 20 RBI over 38 at-bats with RISP. Bleday's 35 RBI in just 45 games rank third on the team.
-
Tommy Troy ARI LF
Diamondbacks' Tommy Troy: Drives in two in win
2h agoTroy started in left field and went 2-for-4 with a triple, two RBI and a run scored in Wednesday's 8-1 win over the Angels.
Troy evened the game at 1-1 with a second-inning triple and then singled home a run in the sixth. He's scuffled following a strong introduction to the majors and entered Wednesday on a 2-for-24 (.083) stretch. Despite that, he held onto a roster spot when Lourdes Gurriel was brought back from the injured list Monday. Instead, the Diamondbacks optioned Ryan Waldschmidt back to Triple-A Reno. Gurriel is expected to get the bulk of the work in left field, and it's unclear how long Arizona will keep Troy around in a role where the prospect isn't getting a steady dose of at-bats.
-
Sam Antonacci CHW LF
White Sox's Sam Antonacci: Pops third homer
8h agoAntonacci went 1-for-4 with a solo home run Wednesday against the Yankees.
Antonacci flipped to the bottom of the order with lefty Carlos Rodon on the mound, but he still managed to pop his third home run of the season in the ninth inning against Jake Bird. Antonacci has now gone yard in two of his last three starts, and he also has at least one hit in six of his last seven games. Despite that recent power surge, Antonacci's primary fantasy appeal remains his ability to make consistent contact, get on base and score runs, as he has a .279 batting average with 33 runs scored across 54 games.
-
Henry Bolte ATH CF
Athletics' Henry Bolte: Swats second homer
8h agoBolte went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 12-4 loss to the Pirates.
Bolte went deep in the seventh inning. He saw a seven-game hitting streak snapped Tuesday while striking out three times in that contest. The outfielder is hitting .310 with an .801 OPS, two homers, eight RBI, 11 runs scored, five doubles and six stolen bases over 32 contests. Bolte hit for fairly modest power in the minors, aside from earlier this year when he clubbed 12 homers in 37 games for Triple-A Las Vegas prior to his call-up to the majors. His contact skills have been better than expected early in his big-league career, though he still has a 29.2 percent strikeout rate.
-
Ryan O'Hearn PIT RF
Pirates' Ryan O'Hearn: Career-best six RBI in win
8h agoO'Hearn went 3-for-5 with a two-run home run, a double and six RBI in Wednesday's 12-4 win over the Athletics.
O'Hearn delivered two RBI with each of his hits. He doubled in the first inning, homered in the fourth and singled in the seventh while accounting for half of the Pirates' run production in a career-best effort. O'Hearn is batting .290 with an .826 OPS, 11 homers, 41 RBI, 33 runs scored, eight doubles and one stolen base over 60 contests this season. He remains a fixture in the lineup versus right-handed pitchers.
-
Bryce Miller SEA SP
-
Aaron Civale ATH SP
Athletics' Aaron Civale: Roughed up in return
8h agoCivale (5-3) allowed six runs on nine hits and two walks while striking out two over three-plus innings to take the loss versus the Pirates on Wednesday.
Civale missed about three weeks due to right shoulder tendinitis. He threw 46 of 71 pitches for strikes, but it was performance as much as workload that caused his early exit. He's allowed 18 runs over 12 innings across his last three starts in the majors. Civale now has a 4.91 ERA, 1.59 WHIP and 41:19 K:BB over 58.2 innings through 12 starts this season. His next start is projected to be on the road in San Francisco, which is about as favorable a matchup as a struggling pitcher can ask for, though Civale's recent performance means he'll still carry some risk.
-
Braxton Ashcraft PIT SP
Pirates' Braxton Ashcraft: Gets back in win column
9h agoAshcraft (6-3) allowed two runs (one earned) on four hits and three walks while striking out seven over six innings to earn the win over the Athletics on Wednesday.
Ashcraft had his best start of June in this outing, throwing 58 of 93 pitches for strikes. This was his ninth quality start in 15 games this season. He has a 3.18 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 97:22 K:BB through 90.2 innings on the year. Ashcraft has largely taken care of business in easy matchups, giving him a reliable floor in fantasy. His next start is projected to come at home versus the Mariners.
-
George Kirby SEA SP
Mariners' George Kirby: Takes loss in quality start
9h agoKirby (5-7) allowed three runs on eight hits and struck out five without walking a batter over six innings to take the loss versus the Orioles on Wednesday.
Kirby gave up just two extra-base hits, but they were critical. Gunnar Henderson tagged him for a two-run home run in the third inning and Leodys Taveras added an RBI triple in the sixth. This was Kirby's second quality start in a row, but hes' allowed at least three runs in six straight outings, going 0-5 in that span. He's now at a 4.10 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 79:21 K:BB through 90 innings over 15 starts. Kirby will look to shake off the funk in his next start, which is tentatively projected to be on the road in Pittsburgh.
-
Kyle Bradish BAL SP
Orioles' Kyle Bradish: Dominant in fourth win
9h agoBradish (4-7) allowed one run on five hits and two walks while striking out 12 over 7.2 innings to earn the win over the Mariners on Wednesday.
Bradish set season highs in innings pitched and strikeouts in this dominant performance. It was a big bounce-back effort after he allowed five runs in each of his previous two starts. The right-hander now has a 4.00 ERA with a 1.51 WHIP and 85:41 K:BB across 81 innings over 15 starts this season. He has issued multiple free passes in seven straight starts and in 13 of his 15 games this season, which continues to limit his overall effectiveness. Bradish is lined up for a favorable road start early next week against the Angels.
-
Sean Sullivan COL SP
Rockies' Sean Sullivan: Yields eight runs in loss
10h agoSullivan (0-1) allowed eight runs on nine hits and two walks while striking out two over four innings to take the loss versus the Cubs on Wednesday.
Sullivan threw 56 of 82 pitches for strikes, but the Cubs had no trouble getting to him. The southpaw threw three scoreless innings against the Athletics last week before his major-league debut was cut short by an illness. Sullivan pitched to a 5.76 ERA, 1.57 WHIP and 50:10 K:BB over 54.2 innings with Triple-A Albuquerque prior to his call-up, and given his tough home park, he's a risky option at best in fantasy. If Tanner Gordon (hip) remains out next week, Sullivan is tentatively projected to make a home start versus the Red Sox.
-
Brett Kerry LAA RP
Angels' Brett Kerry: Sent back to Salt Lake
1h agoThe Angels optioned Kerry to Triple-A Salt Lake on Thursday.
Kerry made his major-league debut Wednesday in Arizona, covering four innings and yielding two runs out of the bullpen. The Angels will likely add a fresh bullpen arm later Thursday to take Kerry's spot on the roster.
-
Chris Roycroft STL RP
Cardinals' Chris Roycroft: Optioned back to Memphis
1h agoThe Cardinals optioned Roycroft to Triple-A Memphis on Thursday.
Roycroft made two appearances during his most recent stint in the majors, getting tagged for four runs over 1.2 innings. He's posted a 15.19 ERA in seven outings in the majors this season. The Cardinals will announce a corresponding roster move prior to Thursday's game versus the Royals.
-
Erik Sabrowski CLE RP
Guardians' Erik Sabrowski: Begins rehab assignment
2h agoSabrowski (elbow) allowed two unearned runs and one walk while striking out two over a hitless two-thirds of an inning for Double-A Akron on Wednesday.
Sabrowski kicked off a rehab assignment with the RubberDucks, his first game action since landing on the 15-day injured list May 26 with inflammation in his left elbow. Before the game, Guardians manager Stephen Vogt told Zach Sweet of MLB.com that the club will review how the left-hander comes through the appearance before determining next steps.

Javier Assad CHC RP
Cubs' Javier Assad: Earns fifth win
10h agoAssad (5-1) allowed two runs on five hits and struck out one without walking a batter to earn the win over the Rockies on Wednesday.
Assad came up an out short of a quality start, but he picked up his second win in a row. He's allowed just two runs over 18 innings across three outings (two starts) in June while filling in for Jameson Taillon (hamstring) in the rotation. Assad now has a 3.89 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 25:9 K:BB through 44 innings over 11 appearances (five starts) on the year. Taillon is expected to be out beyond the All-Star break and Matthew Boyd (knee/shoulder) is making a rehab start Saturday, so Assad is tentatively projected for at least one more start. He's lined up to face the Mets in New York next week.

Tristan Beck SF RP
Giants' Tristan Beck: First save of season
10h agoBeck earned the save Wednesday in the 7-5 win against Atlanta after retiring both batters he faced with one strikeout.
The 29-year-old locked down his first save of the season after Matt Gage's struggles in the ninth created a save situation. Beck has been shuttled back-and-forth between the majors and minors numerous times this season but has largely struggled in the big leagues with an 8.31 ERA and 4:2 K:BB across 10 innings. Despite Wednesday's save, the right-hander isn't likely to see much high-leverage action out of the bullpen for the Giants.

Louie Varland TOR RP
Blue Jays' Louis Varland: Shuts door for 14th save
11h agoVarland secured the save Wednesday against the Red Sox, striking out the side.
Varland made quick work of the scuffling Boston bats Wednesday, throwing all but one of his 10 pitches for strikes. After taking over the closing duties from Jeff Hoffman earlier this year, Varland is running away with the job in 2026. Through 40 innings, the 28-year-old right-hander boasts a 0.90 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 55:11 K:BB while going a pristine 14-for-14 in save situations.

Marcell Ozuna PIT DH
Pirates' Marcell Ozuna: Goes yard in blowout win
8h agoOzuna went 2-for-5 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 12-4 win over the Athletics.
Ozuna hadn't gotten into a game since last Thursday. While he has gone 11-for-41 (.268) over his last 12 games, just two of his hits in that span have gone for extra bases, and he also has a 1:14 BB:K. Ryan O'Hearn most often works as the designated hitter, leaving Ozuna as a bench bat. For the season, Ozuna is batting .198 with a .595 OPS, six homers, 24 RBI, 16 runs scored, five doubles and no stolen bases over 213 plate appearances.

Dominic Canzone SEA DH
Mariners' Dominic Canzone: Lifts another homer
9h agoCanzone went 2-for-3 with a solo home run, a walk and a second RBI in Wednesday's 5-3 loss to the Orioles.
Canzone's strong June continued with his fifth multi-hit effort of the month. He's also clubbed four homers while going 18-for-43 (.419) over 15 contests this month. While the injuries are piling up in the Mariners' outfield, Canzone continues to primarily work as the designated hitter, though he had started the previous two games in right field. He's now batting .293 with a .940 OPS, 11 homers, 31 RBI, 26 runs scored, 12 doubles, one triple and one stolen base over 189 plate appearances.

Bryce Eldridge SF DH
Giants' Bryce Eldridge: Insurance homer in win
10h agoEldridge went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 7-5 win against Atlanta.

Christian Yelich MIL DH
Brewers' Christian Yelich: Breaks power drought
11h agoYelich went 2-for-5 with a solo home run, two RBI and an additional run scored during the Brewers' 9-4 win over the Guardians on Wednesday.
Yelich launched an opposite-field leadoff homer off Gavin Williams for his fifth long ball of the season. It was Yelich's first home run since May 25, but he still batted .284 during that 17-game power drought. The 2019 NL MVP is slashing .276/.346/.429 with five homers, 24 RBI, 34 runs scored, five stolen bases and a 17:53 BB:K across 163 at-bats this season.

Shohei Ohtani LAD DH
Dodgers' Shohei Ohtani: Battles for seventh win
13h agoOhtani (7-2) earned the win against the Rays on Wednesday, allowing four runs on seven hits and one walk with five strikeouts over six innings.
Ohtani allowed a season-high four earned runs, all of which came across in the fifth inning, but still managed a winning effort despite pitching through left knee inflammation. It ends a streak of three straight quality starts for the two-way superstar, though he has still completed at least six frames in 11 of 12 outings this season. He'll carry a microscopic 1.47 ERA, 0.88 WHIP and 78:22 K:BB across 73.2 innings into a road matchup against the Twins next week.

John Rave KC DH
Royals' John Rave: Pops first homer in Wednesday's win
16h agoRave went 2-for-4 with a triple, a solo home run and a second run scored in Wednesday's 6-2 win over the Nationals.
The second-inning long ball off Zack Littell was Rave's first of the season in the majors, while the three-bagger was his first in the majors in his 74th career game. Rave got the called up over the weekend to supply outfield depth while Kyle Isbel (foot) and Vinnie Pasquantino (hand) are on the shelf, but performances like this could earn the 28-year-old more playing time against right-handed pitching. Through 60 games with Triple-A Omaha prior to his promotion, Rave was slashing .278/.395/.475 with 10 homers and 16 steals.
