Hutchison cleared waivers and elected free agency Wednesday.
Hutchison was designated for assignment by the Tigers on Sunday and will choose to seek out other opportunities as a free agent rather than reporting to Triple-A Toledo. The 31-year-old made 12 appearances (two starts) in the majors this year and posted a 4.81 ERA and 1.52 WHIP in 24.1 innings.
