Wilyer Abreu RF | BOS
Red Sox's Wilyer Abreu: Clubs career-high 23rd HR
Abreu went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in Saturday's 6-0 win over the Yankees in the first game of a doubleheader.
The Red Sox had all the runs they needed in the first inning, when Abreu turned on a sinker from left-hander Carlos Rodon for his 23rd home run of the season. That sets a career high for the outfielder, who snapped an 11-game homer drought. He was often benched against lefties the last couple of seasons, but Abreu has more than held his own against southpaws in 2026, posting a .908 OPS against them.

Cody Bellinger LF | NYY
Yankees' Cody Bellinger: Resting during nightcap
Bellinger isn't in the lineup for the second game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Red Sox.
Bellinger will get a breather during the second half of the twin bill after going 1-for-3 with a strikeout during Game 1. Spencer Jones, Trent Grisham and Heliot Ramos will start across the outfield for New York while Bellinger rests.
-
Jarren Duran LF | BOS
Red Sox's Jarren Duran: Idle for nightcap
Duran isn't in the lineup for the second game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Yankees.
Duran sat out the first half of Saturday's festivities, and the Red Sox will keep him on the bench to begin Game 2 while formidable lefty Max Fried takes the mound for New York. Eli White will pick up another start in left field as a result and bat ninth.
-
Cam Smith RF | HOU
Astros' Cam Smith: Sitting again Saturday
Smith is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Mets, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.
This marks Smith's second consecutive absence from the lineup, with both absences coming against right-handed starting pitchers (Christian Scott and Nolan McLean). Smith has just one hit in his last 25 at-bats and may continue to yield starts to Taylor Trammell in right field until he begins showing signs of coming out of this funk.

Jarred Kelenic LF | TEX
Yankees' Jarred Kelenic: Joins Yankees on minors deal
Kelenic signed a minor-league contract with the Yankees on Saturday, Conor Foley of YES Network reports.
Once considered a top prospect in the sport, Kelenic fizzled out with Seattle and has bounced around in the years since. He has played in 36 big-league games this season between the White Sox and Rangers, slashing .219/.313/.288 in 83 plate appearances. It's not completely out of the question that he joins the parent club in September, but Kelenic appears set to join Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre for the time being.

Roman Anthony LF | BOS
Red Sox's Roman Anthony: Sunday return still possible
Anthony (finger) will play in another rehab game with Triple-A Worcester on Saturday, Tim Healey of The Boston Globe reports.
Interim manager Chad Tracy is not shutting the door on Sunday returns for Anthony and Trevor Story (sports hernia), but the skipper is also not committing to it. "It's just hard to say right now," Tracy said Saturday. Anthony has swung the bat well on his rehab assignment, batting .304 with a pair of homers, but he told NESN on Thursday night that he was still "getting close to where I want to be."

Byron Buxton CF | MIN
Twins' Byron Buxton: Sitting third straight
Buxton (hip) isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the White Sox.
Saturday will mark the third straight absence for Buxton since his removal from Tuesday's game with right hip discomfort. The Twins are still viewing the veteran outfielder as day-to-day, though a move to the injured list could be necessary if he isn't able to return to the starting nine soon. Walker Jenkins will start in center field and bat ninth Saturday.
-
Riley Greene LF | DET
Tigers' Riley Greene: Beginning rehab assignment
Greene (hamstring) will begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Toledo on Saturday, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.
Greene will serve as the Mud Hens' designated hitter Saturday before returning to the outfield Sunday. Assuming he gets through the weekend without any issues, he could be cleared to return to the Tigers on Monday for the start of their upcoming series against the Twins.

Brett Bateman CF | TOR
Blue Jays' Brett Bateman: Swipes second bag Friday
Bateman went 2-for-5 with a run scored and a stolen base in Friday's win over the Mariners.
The 24-year-old rookie continues to be a revelation at the top of the batting order for the Blue Jays. Bateman has collected multiple hits in nine of his first 17 big-league games, slashing .329/.359/.397 with three doubles, a triple, two steals, five RBI and eight runs. His .421 BABIP since being called up in early August will cool down at some point, but Bateman's speed and on-base skills make him a throwback leadoff hitter, and he's flashing plus defense in center field -- per Statcast, he's already recorded three Outs Above Average during his brief time in the majors.
-
Trent Grisham CF | NYY
Yankees' Trent Grisham: Sitting down for Game 1
Grisham isn't in the lineup for the first game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Red Sox.
Grisham will get a breather during the first half of Saturday's twin bill after starting each of the Yankees' last 23 games. Cody Bellinger, Spencer Jones and Heliot Ramos will start across the outfield while Grisham is on the bench.
