  • Brett Callahan LF | DET

Tigers' Brett Callahan: Riding pine Saturday

Callahan isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Dodgers.

Callahan has notched a hit in both of his last two games, but the Tigers will keep him on the bench to begin Saturday's contest while Javier Baez, Max Clark and Ben Malgeri start across the outfield.

  • Jarren Duran LF | BOS

Red Sox's Jarren Duran: Sitting out Game 1

Duran isn't in the lineup for the first game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Yankees, Tommy Cassell of the Worcester Telegram & Gazette reports.

Duran will begin Saturday's festivities on the bench after going 0-for-2 with a strikeout during Friday's series opener. Eli White will fill in as Boston's left fielder and bat ninth.

  • Max Clark CF | DET

Tigers' Max Clark: Triples, drives in run Friday

Clark went 1-for-2 with a walk, a triple and an RBI in Friday's 2-1 loss to the Dodgers.

Clark drove in Detroit's lone run and actually gave the Tigers a short-lived lead with his third triple of the year in the bottom of the fifth inning. The 21-year-old rookie has been showing off his speed in the early going with the three triples and a stolen base, and he's also gone deep twice in 25 games. Clark certainly seems to be Detroit's center fielder of the future, and he should be primed to post big numbers in his first full campaign next season.

  • Chase DeLauter RF | CLE

Guardians' Chase DeLauter: Returns to starting lineup

DeLauter served as the designated hitter and went 1-for-4 in Friday's 3-0 loss to the Royals.

DeLauter was back in the starting lineup after a hamstring injury forced him to open the previous three games on the bench. The hamstring has popped up twice this month, so DeLauter could stick in a DH role for a bit before returning to the field.

  • Rays' Chandler Simpson: Notches two steals in win

Simpson went 2-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and two stolen bases in Friday's 9-4 win over the Padres.

Simpson stole second and came around to score in the fourth and fifth innings. It was the 25-year-old's seventh multi-steal game of the season, and he's now hitting a ridiculous .380 in 37 games since the All-Star break. On the season, he's slashing .309/.337/.364 with 29 RBI, 53 runs scored and 37 stolen bases across 509 plate appearances.

  • Nathan Lukes RF | TOR

Blue Jays' Nathan Lukes: Clubs solo homer Friday

Lukes went 1-for-4 with a walk, a solo home run and an additional run scored during the Blue Jays' 8-1 win over the Mariners on Friday.

Lukes gave Toronto a 4-1 lead after taking Emerson Hancock deep to right field for a solo home run, with the former crossing home plate a second time on a Myles Straw RBI single in the seventh. Lukes has been hot at the plate recently, having gone 8-for-24 with four home runs, nine RBI and five runs scored over his last seven games. For the year, he has a .708 OPS with one steal, 10 homers and 32 RBI over 359 plate appearances.

  • Bryce Teodosio LF | LAA

Angels' Bryce Teodosio: Back in minors

The Angels optioned Teodosio to Triple-A Salt Lake on Friday.

Teodosio was recalled from Triple-A on Wednesday, but he'll be pushed back to Triple-A to make room for Wade Meckler, who returned from the 7-day concussion IL on Friday. Teodosio owns just a .509 OPS in 54 major-league plate appearances this season and will likely spend most of what's left of the year in the minors.

  • Wade Meckler LF | LAA

Angels' Wade Meckler: Returns from IL

The Angels reinstated Meckler (concussion) from the injured list Friday.

Meckler landed on the 7-day concussion IL last weekend after taking a pitch off his head, but he's now been cleared to rejoin the parent club following a minimum-length absence. The 26-year-old was in a bit of a slump at the plate before getting injured, going just 2-for-15 in his last five games, though he went 3-for-7 with a homer and a pair of walks during his rehab assignment at Single-A. Bryce Teodosio was optioned to Triple-A in a corresponding move.

  • Blue Jays' Anthony Santander: Return this season not ruled out

Santander (shoulder) has been hitting off a pitching machine at the Blue Jays' spring training complex and still hopes to return before the end of the season, Keegan Matheson of MLB.com reports.

Santander underwent surgery to repair his left shoulder labrum in February and had to be shut down for a bit around midseason due to continued discomfort. However, Santander seems to be trending in the right direction and is aiming to face live pitching next week. If that happens, a return sometime in September could materialize.

  • Cam Smith RF | HOU

Astros' Cam Smith: Riding pine Friday

Smith is absent from the lineup for Friday's affair with the Mets.

After back-to-back games in which he failed to reach base against the Yankees, Smith will take a breather for Friday's series opener. Taylor Trammell will move over to right field and bat eighth for Houston.
