  • Drew Anderson RP | DET

Tigers' Drew Anderson: Pitches well again but takes loss

Anderson (5-7) allowed three runs on five hits across six innings to take the loss Tuesday against the Nationals. He struck out five.

Anderson mostly pitched well but served up two home runs to CJ Abrams, including a two-run shot in the seventh inning, to account for all of the damage in an eventual 3-1 loss. The righty tossed five scoreless frames in his last outing and has a tidy 2.76 ERA across 45.2 innings since the beginning of August. Overall, Anderson now has a 3.67 ERA and 114 strikeouts in a career-high 108 innings this season split between the bullpen and rotation. He's not currently in line to make any more 2026 starts, though it's unclear exactly how the Tigers will deploy their pitchers over the final four games of the year with the team eliminated from the playoff race. Either way, Anderson has shown some promise as a starter down the stretch, which figures to put him in the mix for a 2027 Opening Day rotation spot.

  • Cal Quantrill RP | TEX

Rangers' Cal Quantrill: Transferred to 60-day IL

The Rangers placed Quantrill (lat) on the 60-day injured list Tuesday.

Quantrill will not pitch again this season after being transferred to the 60-day IL on Tuesday. The right-hander posted a 2.86 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 81:25 K:BB across 110 innings this season. Texas activated Michael Helman (hand) from the 60-day IL, replacing Quantrill on both the active and 40-man rosters.

  • Andres Munoz RP | SEA

Mariners' Andres Munoz: Could be available Tuesday

MRI results on Munoz's right knee came back negative Tuesday, Shannon Drayer of SeattleSports.com reports.

Imaging on Munoz's knee didn't reveal any significant issue, and he could be available to pitch in Tuesday's game against the Astros if he responds well to pregame treatment. Otherwise, Gabe Speier and Jose Ferrer would likely be the Mariners' top high-leverage options.

  • Adam Macko RP | TEX

Rangers' Adam Macko: Demoted to minors

The Rangers optioned Macko to the club's Arizona Complex League affiliate Tuesday.

The left-hander was called up by Texas over the weekend and will return to the minors after firing 2.1 scoreless frames Sunday against the Blue Jays. Macko won't be eligible to be recalled by the Rangers before the end of the regular season unless the corresponding transaction is injury related.

  • Peyton Gray RP | TEX

Rangers' Peyton Gray: Activated from injured list

The Rangers activated Gray (elbow) from the 15-day injured list Tuesday.

Gray has been shelved for all of September with right elbow inflammation, but he'll go back directly onto the active roster without having made a rehab appearance. The rookie reliever has pitched well out of the Texas bullpen this season, logging a 3.93 ERA and 58:16 K:BB over 55 innings.

  • Red Sox's Garrett Crochet: Throws live BP

Crochet (lat) threw a 16-pitch session of live batting practice Tuesday, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports.

The left-hander touched 96 mph and received good feedback, but how he recovers Wednesday will likely be what dictates next steps. Crochet has been on the shelf since late April due to a lat strain and could be a key bullpen weapon for the Red Sox during the playoffs if he can quickly find his form.

  • Clarke Schmidt RP | NYY

Yankees' Clarke Schmidt: Managing bicep issue

Manager Aaron Boone said Tuesday that Schmidt underwent testing on his right biceps and is "in a pretty good spot," Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

The right-hander was warming up to enter Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks until he experienced some biceps soreness, per Hoch, but it appears he's avoided a serious injury. Schmidt is scheduled to play catch Tuesday to help determine his availability.

  • Rays' Manuel Rodriguez: Expected back this week

Rodriguez (back) is expected to be activated from the 15-day injured list at some point this week, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Rodriguez has been shelved since early September with a lower-back strain, but his activation is imminent after he made three rehab appearances for Triple-A Durham. The righty has appeared in only four games for the Rays in 2026, as he got a late start to the season while recovering from flexor tendon surgery.

  • Royals' Spencer Bivens: Headed to Triple-A

Bivens was optioned to Triple-A Omaha on Monday.

Bivens failed to make an appearance out of the bullpen after being promoted to the big-league club Saturday. Tony Gonsolin (elbow) was activated from the 15-day injured list in a corresponding move.

  • Blue Jays' Michael Lorenzen: Sticking with Blue Jays

Lorenzen was sent outright to Triple-A Buffalo on Monday.

Lorenzen will remain with Toronto after passing through waivers unclaimed. He was designated for assignment by the Blue Jays on Friday after surrendering five runs over two frames in his last outing Tuesday against Detroit.
