  • Shane Drohan SP | MIL

Brewers' Shane Drohan: Makes abbreviated start Thursday

Drohan took a no-decision in his start in Thursday's 5-1 win over the Phillies, striking out two batters while allowing one run on three hits and two walks.

Drohan picked up his first start since Sept. 12, after the Brewers used him in relief for both of his prior two appearances. He handled a limited workload in his return to the rotation, tossing just 47 pitches while facing 13 batters before the Brewers turned the game over to the bullpen. Drohan is likely to shift back to a relief role if Milwaukee opts to include him on its postseason roster.

  • Edward Cabrera SP | CHC

Cubs' Edward Cabrera: Goes on family emergency list

The Cubs placed Cabrera on the family medical emergency list Friday, Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Cabrera will miss the final series of the regular season but should be back for the wild-card series, though it's no guarantee the Cubs will include him on the roster. The 28-year-old has allowed five runs with a 4:4 K:BB over four innings covering three appearances since being moved to the bullpen.

  • Yunior Marte SP | SF

Giants' Yunior Marte: Drawing another start

Marte is slated to start Friday's game against the Dodgers in San Francisco.

Marte will receive a second straight turn through the Giants rotation in what should be his final outing of the season. Through four appearances (two starts) since being called up from Triple-A Sacramento on Aug. 29, Marte has turned in a 4.66 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 11:9 K:BB across 19.1 innings.

  • Connelly Early SP | WAS

Nationals' Connelly Early: Set to join Washington for final series

Early (elbow) is expected to be activated from the 60-day injured list to make his Nationals debut at some point during this weekend's series versus the Mets, MLB.com reports.

Acquired from the Red Sox back on July 26, Early finally appears ready to join the Nationals following a lengthy recovery from left elbow inflammation. He made his second and final rehab appearance this past Sunday at Triple-A Rochester, yielding three unearned runs over 1.2 innings while tossing 40 pitches. Since Early isn't stretched out enough to handle a traditional starting role, the Nationals could look to have him piggyback either Jake Irvin or DJ Herz, who will start Saturday and Sunday, respectively.

  • Tyler Glasnow SP | LAD

Dodgers' Tyler Glasnow: Dials up 11 strikeouts

Glasnow (5-2) allowed three runs on three hits and two walks while striking out 11 over 6.1 innings to take the loss versus the Padres on Thursday.

Glasnow gave up one run in the sixth inning and then left two runners on base in the seventh, both of whom scored after Justin Wrobleski took over on the mound. Despite the loss, it was another strong start for Glasnow, who has racked up double-digit strikeouts in his last two starts. He ends the regular season with a 3.53 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 98:25 K:BB across 74 innings over 13 starts. Glasnow will get a little extra rest before a potential start during the NLDS.

  • Nick Pivetta SP | SD

Padres' Nick Pivetta: Fans seven in no-decision

Pivetta allowed four hits, a walk and a hit batsman while striking out seven over 4.2 scoreless innings in a no-decision versus the Dodgers on Thursday.

Pivetta pitched well but wasn't particularly efficient with 87 pitches (59 strikes) in this outing. The right-hander gave up just three runs across 18.2 innings in September after a nearly five-month layoff due to a flexor strain. He ends the regular season with a 3-2 record, 2.86 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 42:8 K:BB across 34.2 innings over eight starts. It's unclear what role he'll have if the Padres secure a postseason berth, but based on recent usage, he may be limited if he functions as a starter.

  • Brady Singer SP | CIN

Reds' Brady Singer: Ineffective again in no-decision

Singer took a no-decision Thursday against Atlanta, striking out one while allowing five runs on seven hits and two walks in three innings.

With another poor showing Thursday, Singer is limping his way into the offseason. The right-hander has coughed up at least five runs in four consecutive starts, and he hasn't pitched at least six innings since Aug. 20 versus the Cardinals. He'll be an unrestricted free agent this winter, and Singer figures to have a market as a back-end starter despite logging a career-worst 5.85 ERA, 1.59 WHIP and 126:62 K:BB across 157 innings in 2026.

  • Tyler Mahle SP | ATL

Braves' Tyler Mahle: Rare dud in no-decision

Mahle took a no-decision Thursday against the Reds, striking out two while allowing five runs on six hits and two walks in five innings.

Mahle had trouble with hard contact, giving up three extra-base hits (two home runs). It was a big letdown by the right-hander, who entered Thursday on a streak of eight consecutive starts with two runs or fewer allowed since joining Atlanta. He's still expected to be a key part of the rotation this postseason, posting a superb 1.99 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 48:9 K:BB over 54.1 innings for his new team.

  • Andrew Painter SP | PHI

Phillies' Andrew Painter: Strikes out eight Thursday

Painter did not factor into the decision Thursday against the Phillies, allowing a run on five hits and three walks over six innings. He struck out eight.

Painter was impressive Thursday, as he logged a quality start while matching a season high with eight punch outs. It was a nice way to wrap up the regular season for the 24-year-old Painter, who had struggled to a 5.87 ERA over 15.1 innings in his previous three outings. After struggling in the first half, he'll finish the year 3-10 with 5.40 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 115:47 K:BB over 126.2 innings.

  • Braves' Hurston Waldrep: Placed on 60-day IL

Atlanta recalled Waldrep (elbow) from Triple-A Gwinnett on Thursday and placed him on the 60-day injured list.

Waldrep will join the big-league 60-day IL to free up space on the 40-man roster for Elieser Hernandez, who was selected to the 28-man roster Thursday. Waldrep is slated to miss the entire 2027 campaign after undergoing Tommy John surgery on his right elbow.
