Brewers' Joey Ortiz: Back in lineup for Brewers

Ortiz (abdomen) will start at shortstop and bat sixth in Wednesday's game versus the Phillies.

Ortiz has been nursing an abdominal strain which kept him out of the lineup Tuesday, but he's back in there after one day of rest. David Hamilton will cover third base, and Cooper Pratt will retreat to the bench for the Brewers on Wednesday.

  • Thomas Saggese SS | STL

Cardinals' Thomas Saggese: Exiting starting nine

Saggese is not in the lineup for Wednesday's contest in Pittsburgh.

Saggese had made 20 consecutive starts for the Cardinals, but he's cooled off lately in going hitless across his last four games. Nolan Gorman will cover third base for St. Louis on Wednesday.

Nationals' CJ Abrams: Crushes two homers Tuesday

Abrams went 2-for-4 with two home runs and three RBI during the Nationals' 3-1 win over the Tigers on Tuesday.

Abrams supplied all of the offense for the Nationals on Tuesday, starting with a solo homer in the second inning before giving Washington the lead for good with a two-run shot in the seventh. He's gone deep three times in as many games, and Tuesday was his third multi-HR game of the season. Brewers' Joey Ortiz: Nursing abdominal strain

Manager Pat Murphy said Tuesday that Ortiz has been dealing with an abdominal strain for the past few days, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

Ortiz will get a day off Tuesday to recover from his injury, but Murphy noted that the 28-year-old would likely be playing if it were the postseason, so it doesn't seem like Ortiz is dealing with anything major. David Hamilton will man the hot corner Tuesday and is the favorite to start there during any future games that Ortiz may have to miss.

  • Joseph Ortiz SS | MIL

Brewers' Joey Ortiz: Out of Milwaukee lineup

Ortiz is absent from the lineup for Tuesday's game in Philadelphia.

Rockies' Ezequiel Tovar: Not in Tuesday's lineup

Tovar started the previous three games but will receive a day off Tuesday after going 2-for-8 with a double, a stolen base and two runs during that span. Cole Carrigg is filling in at shortstop while Troy Johnston and Zac Veen pick up starts in the outfield.

  • Thomas Saggese SS | STL

Cardinals' Thomas Saggese: Settling into everyday role

Saggese will start at third base and will bat seventh in Tuesday's game against the Pirates.

Saggese was out of the lineup for the Cardinals' first two games upon his promotion in late August, but since then he's made 20 consecutive starts. He was swinging a hot bat initially after being recalled from Triple-A Memphis, but the 24-year-old has since cooled off, going 7-for-41 (.171) over his last 11 games.

  • Giants' Christian Koss: Doubles in victory
