Griffin Jax SP | TB
Rays' Griffin Jax: Blanks A's in Tuesday's no-decision
Jax didn't factor into the decision Tuesday, allowing two hits over five scoreless innings in a 2-1 win over the A's. He struck out seven without walking a batter.
The right-hander was dominant over 67 pitches (46 strikes), but an early hook from manager Kevin Cash nearly cost the Rays when Ty Johnson gave up the tying run in the top of the sixth inning. Jax has been held under 70 pitches in all three of his September starts following a month-long absence due to elbow discomfort, but the strict workload limit appears to be working, as he's given up just one run in 10 innings over his last two trips to the mound with a 9:1 K:BB. Jax will look to stay stingy in his next outing, which lines up to come at home this weekend against the Red Sox.

Jack Perkins RP | ATH
Athletics' Jack Perkins: Fans eight in no-decision Tuesday
Perkins didn't factor into the decision in Tuesday's 2-1 loss to the Rays, allowing one unearned run on four hits and one walk over 6.2 innings. He struck out eight.
In his longest and best performance of the season, Perkins fired 53 of 83 pitches for strikes, and the only run to cross the plate against him came as the result of a passed ball by Jonah Heim, which let Chandler Simpson scamper home from third base. Perkins has had a rough season overall, but the 26-year-old right-hander is providing some optimism for 2027 -- over his last six outings, he's produced a 2.86 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 33:16 K:BB through 28.1 innings. He's scheduled to make his next start on the road this weekend in Cleveland.

Bailey Ober SP | MIN
Twins' Bailey Ober: Allows three runs in loss
Ober (7-6) took the loss Tuesday against the Yankees after allowing three runs on nine hits and two walks while striking out three over 5.1 innings.
Ober fell behind almost immediately when Cody Bellinger launched a two-run homer in the top of the first, and the Yankees would never relinquish that lead. The right-hander allowed another run on George Lombard's RBI single in the third but kept New York from breaking the game open and departed with one out in the sixth. This outing ended a run of four straight starts in which he allowed two earned runs or fewer.

Max Fried SP | NYY
Yankees' Max Fried: Earns win, fans seven Tuesday
Fried (5-4) earned the win Tuesday against the Twins after allowing one run on six hits while striking out six over seven innings. He did not issue a walk.
Fried delivered his longest outing since April 22, though he needed only 88 pitches (58 strikes) to complete seven frames. Minnesota's lone run came on Emmanuel Rodriguez's RBI single in the second, and Fried immediately ended the threat by picking Rodriguez off first. Fried didn't issue a walk for the first time since April 11 and retired 15 of the final 18 hitters he faced. The victory was Fried's first since April 27, and he lowered his ERA to an impressive 2.63 with this outing. Fried is scheduled to make his next start at home against the Rays next week.

Pete Alonso 1B | BAL
Orioles' Pete Alonso: Launches 300th career homer
Alonso went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 7-5 extra-innings win over the Mets.
Alonso delivered a storybook moment in his return to Citi Field, crushing Kodai Senga's ninth-inning offering 414 feet to tie the game at 3-3. The blast was his 36th homer of the season and 300th of his career, prompting Mets fans to chant his name until he emerged for a rare road curtain call. Alonso hit 264 of those homers with New York before joining Baltimore, and his milestone shot helped the Orioles eventually prevail in 11 innings. It was Alonso's fourth homer of the month, and he's hitting .255 with an .871 OPS across 14 games since the beginning of September.

Andrew Kittredge RP | BAL
Orioles' Andrew Kittredge: Secures 10th save of season
Kittredge earned his 10th save of the season after allowing one unearned run on one hit over one inning in Tuesday's 7-5 extra-innings win over the Mets. He didn't record a strikeout or issue a walk.
Kittredge entered in the 11th inning protecting a three-run advantage and allowed the automatic runner to score on Bo Bichette's two-out RBI single. That brought the potential tying run to the plate, but Kittredge induced a Carson Benge flyball out to end the game. The veteran right-hander has now converted 10 saves this season, and he has lowered his ERA to 3.66. Kittredge has now thrown back-to-back scoreless outings after opening September by allowing four runs over 1.1 frames in his first two appearances of the month.

Alex Hoppe RP | BAL
Orioles' Alex Hoppe: Earns win in extras
Hoppe (1-1) earned the win after allowing one unearned run on one hit while walking one and striking out one over one inning in Tuesday's 7-5 extra-innings victory over the Mets.
Hoppe entered the game in the 10th with Baltimore ahead 4-3 and surrendered a game-tying RBI double to Marcus Semien, with the automatic runner accounting for the unearned run. Hoppe prevented further damage the rest of the way, and Coby Mayo's three-run inside-the-park homer in the following frame then put Baltimore ahead for good, giving Hoppe his first win of the season. Despite the run allowed in the 10th, Hoppe continues to pitch well. He has allowed just one earned run across 12.2 innings and 16 appearances since the beginning of August for a 1.42 ERA, albeit with a 1.66 WHIP and 10:8 K:BB.

Garrett Crochet RP | BOS
Red Sox's Garrett Crochet: Tosses bullpen session
Crochet (shoulder) threw a 30-pitch bullpen session at Fenway Park on Tuesday, Perla Paredes of MLB.com reports.
Red Sox interim manager Chad Tracy indicated the session went well, but the team will wait to see how Crochet responds Wednesday before determining the left-hander's next step. He's been building up his pitch count and intensity while introducing offspeed and breaking stuff during side sessions leading up to Tuesday's effort. Crochet is attempting to rejoin Boston as a reliever over the final days of the regular season.

Red Sox's Tanner Houck: Will be evaluated this weekend
Houck (elbow) will make a fourth rehab appearance Saturday, and the Red Sox plan to evaluate him following the outing, Perla Paredes of MLB.com reports.
Houck was on the mound Tuesday for a third time during his rehab assignment. He struck out three while allowing one walk in a scoreless seventh inning for Triple-A Worcester. If all goes well Saturday, Houck could join Boston's bullpen for the final days of the regular season.
