  • Ryan McMahon 3B | NYY

Yankees' Ryan McMahon: Five RBI in win

McMahon went 2-for-4 with a grand slam and an additional RBI in Wednesday's 9-2 win over Tampa Bay.

McMahon extended New York's lead to 2-0 in the second inning with a two-out RBI single before breaking the game open with a grand slam off Mason Englert in the third. It was a much-needed performance for McMahon, who'd gone just 1-for-17 in six games prior to Wednesday. Overall, he's slashing .210/.276/.352 across 356 plate appearances this year with 11 homers, 40 RBI and 32 runs scored.

  • Ben Rice DH | NYY

Yankees' Ben Rice: Launches 40th, 41st homers

Rice went 3-for-4 with a pair of solo home runs in Wednesday's 9-2 win over Tampa Bay.

Rice led off the game with a 379-foot blast off Mason Englert, his 40th homer this season, before adding his 41st in the fourth, tying Yordan Alvarez and Junior Caminero for the AL lead. Overall, the 27-year-old Rice is slashing .263/.362/.537 with 97 RBI, 103 runs scored and three steals across 654 plate appearances in a breakout campaign.

  • Gerrit Cole SP | NYY

Yankees' Gerrit Cole: Strikes out eight in 10th win

Cole (10-9) earned the win Wednesday over the Rays, allowing two runs on three hits and three walks over 5.2 innings. He struck out eight.

Cole ended his regular season on a high note, allowing just four runs over 11.2 innings while striking out 17 in his last two starts -- he had struggled to a 5.96 ERA in his previous four outings. The right-hander held Tampa Bay scoreless Wednesday until Jonny DeLuca's two-out RBI double in the fourth inning before Cedric Mullins added a solo home run in the fifth. Cole will finish the regular season with a 3.61 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 131:25 K:BB across 22 starts (127 innings).

  • Red Sox's Aroldis Chapman: Locks down save No. 35 in return

Chapman (lat) struck out the side to earn the save Wednesday against Cleveland.

Chapman last pitched Sept. 13 due to a lat issue, but he showed no signs of rust Wednesday in his return to the mound. The star southpaw has now punched out three in back-to-back outings, last blowing a save June 28 against the Yankees. He has a shiny 1.92 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 71:23 K:BB with 35 saves in 37 attempts across 51.2 innings.

  • Twins' Connor Prielipp: Solid again Wednesday

Prielipp didn't factor into the decision Wednesday against the Giants, allowing two runs on four hits and two walks over 5.1 innings. He struck out three.

It was a strong outing overall for Prielipp, who held the Giants scoreless until Shay Whitcomb's two-out, two-run single in the fourth inning,. In three starts since rejoining Minnesota's rotation, Prielipp's given up just five runs across 17.2 innings. The lefty will likely finish his rookie campaign with a 4.87 ERA over 125.2 innings this season with a 1.29 WHIP and 128:44 K:BB.

  • Sonny Gray SP | BOS

Red Sox's Sonny Gray: Spins six shutout innings in win

Gray (18-5) earned the win Wednesday against Cleveland, striking out three while allowing four hits and one walk in six scoreless innings.

Gray scattered four singles on the evening in what was final scheduled appearance of the regular season. The right-hander is heading into the playoffs with a ton of steam, having logged a quality start in four consecutive outings and seven of his last nine. Wednesday put a bow on an excellent regular season, which saw Gray post a 2.72 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 149:46 K:BB over 169 innings.

  • Andrew Morris RP | MIN

Twins' Andrew Morris: Earns save Wednesday

Morris earned the save in Wednesday's 4-2 win over the Giants, allowing a hit and a walk while striking out two in a scoreless ninth inning.

Morris got the call in the ninth inning Wednesday after Yoendrys Gomez was used earlier in the contest. The 25-year-old Morris worked around a pair of two-out base runners to log his fifth save of the year. The right-hander has turned in four straight scoreless frames, lowering his ERA to 4.21 on the season with a 1.36 WHIP and 68:27 K:BB across 72.2 innings.

  • Foster Griffin SP | CLE

Guardians' Foster Griffin: Limits damage in sixth loss

Griffin (15-6) took the loss against Boston on Wednesday, allowing one run on 10 hits and no walks in six innings. He struck out seven.

Griffin certainly danced around plenty of trouble, holding the Red Sox in check in spite of giving up 10 singles. The seven punchouts were his most since July 8 as a member of the Nationals, and it was just the southpaw's third quality start since being dealt to Cleveland. Griffin posted a 5.19 ERA, 1.62 WHIP and 42:15 K:BB over 43.1 innings for the Guardians as his regular season comes to an end.

  • Daulton Varsho CF | HOU

Astros' Daulton Varsho: Sitting third straight

Varsho (wrist) isn't in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Mariners, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

Varsho will miss a third consecutive start Wednesday as he continues to recover from a left wrist injury. The Astros recalled Lucas Spence from Triple-A to provide some insurance in the outfield while Varsho is hurt, and the former will start in center field, batting eighth.

  • Framber Valdez SP | DET

Tigers' Framber Valdez: Stumbles in sixth, takes loss

Valdez (10-12) gave up two runs on four hits across 5.1 innings to take the loss Wednesday against the Nationals. He walked three and struck out six.

Valdez was in strong form through five innings, allowing just a single and three walks. However, the southpaw ran into trouble in the sixth when he allowed the first three batters to reach to make the score 1-0 before he eventually got the hook. While the outing ended on a sour note, it was still another mostly good performance for Valdez, who has posted a 1.93 ERA and 19 strikeouts across 23.1 innings in September. The veteran is not scheduled to take the mound again in 2026, so he'll finish his first season in Detroit with a 4.03 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 135 strikeouts across 174 innings. After signing a three-year, $115 million contract with the Tigers in the offseason, Valdez's final stat line is a disappointment compared to the numbers he regularly posted in Houston, but he'll have the chance to restore some fantasy value if he looks good early in 2027.
