  • Martin Perez SP | ATL

Braves' Martin Perez: Secures 100th career win Tuesday

Perez (9-9) earned the win Tuesday against the Cubs after allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits and four walks while striking out two over six innings.

Perez worked around traffic while Atlanta's offense took time to get going, falling behind 3-0 through four innings. The veteran kept the Cubs scoreless over his final two frames, however, giving Atlanta an opportunity to rally on Ronald Acuna's two-run homer in the sixth and Ozzie Albies' go-ahead shot in the seventh. The victory was the 100th of Perez's career, and he lowered his ERA to 3.07 through 28 starts. He's been pitching well lately and has given up two earned runs or fewer in four of his last five outings, posting a 2.73 ERA and 1.52 WHIP in that stretch.

  • Mets' Jonathan Pintaro: Takes loss in 11th inning

Pintaro (2-2) took the loss after allowing three runs (two earned) on two hits and a walk while striking out two over one inning in Tuesday's 7-5 loss to the Orioles.

Pintaro entered the game in the 11th inning in a 4-4 tie and was close to escaping the inning after striking out Pete Alonso for the second out. However, Coby Mayo drove an 0-2 pitch to deep center, where A.J. Ewing crashed into the wall trying to catch it, and the ball rolled away, allowing the 24-year-old third baseman to circle the bases for a three-run inside-the-park homer. Pintaro has given up five runs (four earned) across six outings and seven innings in September, and while he should continue to see opportunities out of the bullpen, he's not likely to pitch in many high-leverage situations going forward.

  • Connelly Early SP | WAS

Nationals' Connelly Early: Labors through first rehab start

Early (elbow) was charged with three runs on two hits and two walks over one inning in his first rehab start with Triple-A Rochester on Tuesday.

Making his first appearance since late June, Early showed considerable rust in needing 35 pitches to get through his lone inning of work. He averaged 93 mph with his four-seamer in the outing, which is one mph less than his average for the season. As long as Early recovers well from the start, he could make his Nationals debut next week. It would be an abbreviated outing but could offer the southpaw some peace of mind with his health heading into the offseason. Early missed nearly three months with left elbow inflammation.

  • Kodai Senga RP | NYM

Mets' Kodai Senga: Blows save Tuesday

Senga was charged with a blown save after allowing one run on one hit while striking out two over one inning in Tuesday's 7-5 extra-innings loss to the Orioles.

Senga entered the ninth with New York protecting a 3-2 lead and retired the first batter before Pete Alonso crushed a 414-foot solo homer to tie the game. It was Alonso's 300th career home run and his first against the Mets after spending his first seven seasons in New York. Senga recovered to retire the next two hitters, but the damage resulted in his first blown save in eight opportunities this season. He's now given up runs in two of his last three appearances, but with Devin Williams (shoulder) still on the IL, Senga should continue to see ninth-inning opportunities for now.

  • Sean Manaea SP | NYM

    Mets' Sean Manaea: No-decision Tuesday

Manaea didn't factor into the decision Tuesday against the Orioles after allowing two runs on four hits while striking out six over 5.1 innings. He did not issue a walk.

Manaea surrendered solo homers to Christian Encarnacion-Strand and Jeremiah Jackson in the second inning but otherwise kept the Orioles quiet. More encouragingly, he didn't issue a walk for a second straight start and has done a good job of limiting free passes of late with just two walks in his last four starts and 21.2 innings. Manaea owns a 5.36 ERA since the beginning of August, and this marked his first outing since Aug. 9 with fewer than four runs allowed.

  • Matt McLain 2B | CIN

Reds' Matt McLain: Returns to action

McLain started at second base and went 0-for-3 in Tuesday's 4-0 loss to the Dodgers.

McLain was back in the lineup after missing three games due to a left shoulder injury. The Reds downplayed the severity of the issue and welcomed back their primary second baseman Tuesday. McLain, who will attempt to finish a trying season on a positive note, is batting just .129 (4-for-31) this month and .186 for the season.

  • Ketel Marte 2B | ARI

Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Doubles twice in loss

Marte went 2-for-6 with two doubles and an RBI in Tuesday's 4-2 extra-innings loss to the Marlins.

Marte drove home the designated runner in the bottom of the 11th inning after Miami scored three times in the top of the frame. It was a frustrating night for the Diamondbacks, who went 1-for-13 with runners in scoring position and missed an opportunity to gain ground in the playoff chase. Marte's hit safely in 12 of 13 games since returning from the injured list, going 14-for-54 with six doubles, one home run, seven RBI and six runs scored.

  • Nolan Arenado 3B | ARI

Diamondbacks' Nolan Arenado: Expected to play Wednesday

Arizona manager Torey Lovullo said following Tuesday's game that Arenado (thumb) will be in the lineup Wednesday, Arizona Sports reports.

Arenado was removed from Tuesday's game due to the injury that flared up following a fifth-inning at-bat. He played another inning before being replaced by Jose Fernandez. Fernandez or Ildemaro Vargas would be in line to replace Arenado at the hot corner should the thumb injury linger.

  • Luis Arraez 2B | PHI

Phillies' Luis Arraez: Rips pair of doubles in loss

Arraez went 2-for-3 with two doubles, a walk and an RBI in Tuesday's 6-3 loss to the Nationals.

The light-hitting infielder tallied a rare showing of multiple extra-base hits, his first such effort since June 30 in Arizona as a member of the Giants. Arraez is targeting his fourth career batting title in 2026, jockeying primarily with Nick Gonzales, Otto Lopez and Gabriel Moreno in the race for the National League crown at this stage of the season. He's hitting an MLB-best .315 in 143 games on the year, and Arraez is batting .291 with two homers, nine doubles, 17 RBI and 14 runs scored over 148 at-bats since being dealt to the Phillies.

  • Diamondbacks' Gabriel Moreno: Big game in loss

Moreno went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, two walks and a stolen base in Tuesday's 4-2 extra-innings loss to the Marlins.

Moreno did a bit of everything in this contest, including catching all 11 innings. He has gone 15-for-43 (.349) with three homers over his last 11 contests. The catcher is batting .303 with an .856 OPS, 14 homers, 74 RBI, 64 runs scored, six steals, 31 doubles and one triple across a career-high 121 contests.
