Fantasy Football Salary Cap draft results, recap: Best and worst values, two top-5 RBs on one roster, more
There are many different ways to build a dream Fantasy roster in a Salary Cap Draft

Our post-preseason 12-team 0.5 PPR Salary Cap Draft should show you how certain roster-building strategies can turn out in your leagues.
But above all, it should show you that Salary Cap Drafts are the best. If there's a player you want on your team, you're not beholden to the randomization of a snake draft order. If you are willing to spend the most from your budget to get someone, you will absolutely get your wish.
That's what CBS Sports HQ anchor Tommy Tran did. After busting out $32 for Dalvin Cook's services, Tran dropped $28 on Derrick Henry to form the ultimate one-two punch at running back in Fantasy. But with 60% of his starting budget of $100 wrapped up in two players, Tran had to do some bargain shopping and did precisely that with Josh Allen ($8), Josh Jacobs ($7) and Amari Cooper ($12). However, he did tie for the most players who went for $1 with six.
Fantasy Sports editor George Maselli sort of did the same thing. He dished out an incredible $39 to land Christian McCaffrey, then he took another $19 to get Nick Chubb and $17 to swipe Justin Jefferson. That took up 75% of his total budget on three players, but he was still able to collect Lamar Jackson ($7), and just for good measure, Aaron Rodgers ($2). Maselli did wind up with five players who he acquired for the $1 minimum.
Both of them went with what's called the "Studs & Duds" approach, where you invest heavily in a few big names and scrape through the rest of the draft process procuring minimum-priced players. This is pretty much the only way to create a dream roster with two players who would normally be first-round picks in a snake draft.
You could go the other way with this, too.
For instance, my Fantasy team has zero first-round snake draft players because I decided to spend a little more evenly. I landed Joe Mixon, David Montgomery, Darren Waller and Allen Robinson for around $15 each, then picked up Jerry Jeudy ($10), Mike Evans ($8) and Damien Harris ($9). Those guys, along with Justin Herbert for $2, make up my starting lineup. The problem is that my bench is filled with $1 bid players, so my depth is very shaky.
Chris Towers did something similar, dropping a big amount on only Calvin Ridley ($21) and purchasing the services of George Kittle, Robert Woods and Cooper Kupp for anywhere from $11 to $15. Everyone else on the roster went for $8 or less, but he had just one player who cost him $1.
The "Spread" draft strategy is good for building a competitive starting lineup that is also unusual compared to typical snake teams (my roster has eight top-70 players on it). But it doesn't promise good depth, though it's easier to come by than in the Studs & Duds approach.
Perhaps the best way to deem your team a success is if you can put together a team that's even slightly better than one you'd forge in a snake draft. Heath Cummings came close to this with Aaron Jones ($25), Tyreek Hill ($24), D'Andre Swift ($13), Tyler Lockett ($11), Dak Prescott ($4), Darrell Henderson ($7), Jaylen Waddle ($5), Corey Davis ($2), Jamaal Williams ($9) and Ryan Tannehill ($10). You'd probably feel pretty good if these were your first 10 picks in a snake draft -- Jones and Hill both carry a top-13 overall ADP; Swift, Lockett and Prescott are all in the Round 3-to-5 range with Henderson not too far behind; the other players are all worthy of a pick in Round 7 or later, even if ADP suggests otherwise.
Remember, Salary Cap Drafts are a bidding process where every manager gets a pretend budget to spend on players ($100 is a pretty common amount). Everyone takes a turn nominating players. When a player is nominated, managers bid for his services. Once it's clear who will bid the most (this process usually involves a human or a website saying "Going once ... going twice ... gone!"), the player is awarded to the winner's roster and the process repeats until everyone has a full roster.
Here's your chance to look over the results of our 12-team, 0.5 PPR $100 budget draft. Every manager fielded a team that must start a QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, a TE, 2 FLEX (RB/WR/TE) and a DST along with five reserve spots and five IR spots.
