Flacco (neck) agreed to a one-year, $1.5 million contract with the Jets on Friday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Flacco isn't automatically considered a starter at this point in his career, but he will get an opportunity to serve in a backup role to Sam Darnold when he's healthy. Per Schefter, Flacco is expected to be available for non-contact work when training camp begins and figures to be cleared in full in September. He opened 2019 as the starter for the Broncos, but a neck injury cost him the back half of the campaign after he compiled 1,822 passing yards and a 6:5 TD:INT ratio over eight games. Flacco's new deal can net him up to $4.5 million if he hits his incentive-based bonuses.
