Devils' Mackenzie Blackwood: Retroactively placed on IR

Blackwood (heel) was designated for injured reserve retroactive to Oct. 11 on Tuesday.

By utilizing retroactive IR, Blackwood can still be activated as soon as he is deemed fit by the Devils' medical staff. In the meantime, Jonathan Bernier figures to carry the load for the club with Cory Schneider serving as the backup. Once Blackwood is cleared to play, he'll need to be activated off IR.
