Alex Newhook C | MON
Canadiens' Alex Newhook: Produces two assists in loss
Newhook notched two assists and three shots on goal in Wednesday's 5-4 loss to the Capitals.
Newhook earned his first multi-point effort of the season with this one. He's up to a goal, three helpers, eight shots on net, seven hits, six blocked shots and a minus-2 rating across seven outings. The 25-year-old was on his way to a breakout campaign last year before it got derailed by injuries. If he can produce around a 50-point pace this year, he'll be a decent depth forward in fantasy.

Nick Suzuki C | MON
Canadiens' Nick Suzuki: Pots power-play goal
Suzuki scored a power-play goal on three shots in Wednesday's 5-4 loss to the Capitals.
Suzuki's tally got the Canadiens within a goal late in the third period, but they weren't able to tie it. The 27-year-old center is up to four goals, five assists, 20 shots, 11 hits, five blocked shots and a plus-2 rating over seven contests this season. Remarkably, his goal Wednesday was his first power-play point of the campaign. Once he gets rolling with the man advantage, he'll be a true force on offense as he looks to repeat his 101-point regular season from last year.

Oskar Back C | DAL
Stars' Oskar Back: Leaves Wednesday's game
Back (upper body) won't return to Wednesday's game versus the Avalanche.
It's not clear when Back sustained the injury, but he was missing from the Stars' bench in the second period. The forward can be considered day-to-day until the team provides an additional update. If Back can't play Saturday versus the Blackhawks, he could be replaced in the lineup by Wyatt Johnston (illness).

Nicolas Roy C | COL
Avalanche's Nicolas Roy: Out of action Wednesday
Roy (lower body) won't play Wednesday versus the Stars, Evan Rawal of the Denver Gazette reports.
Roy was getting help from the trainers during the morning skate before Tuesday's game, and while he played in that one, he appears to need to step out of the lineup. The Avalanche are expected to dress seven defensemen to cover his absence Wednesday. Roy's next chance to play is Friday versus the Penguins.

Gavin Brindley C | COL
Avalanche's Gavin Brindley: Elevated from AHL
Brindley was promoted from AHL Colorado on Wednesday.
The addition of Brindley to the NHL roster doesn't bode well for Zachary L'Heureux (upper body) playing Wednesday, especially since the Avalanche would also have the option of dressing seven defensemen. The 22-year-old Brindley produced 13 points over 56 regular-season contests with the Avalanche in 2025-26.

Sam Morton C | CGY
Flames' Sam Morton: Two goals in AHL win
Morton scored twice in AHL Calgary's 6-4 win over San Jose on Wednesday.
Morton has logged four games of NHL experience, but the 27-year-old is likely to spend much of 2026-27 in the AHL. He has three goals across the first five games of the season for the Wranglers. Last year, he produced 38 points across 68 regular-season outings.
-
Pierre-Luc Dubois C | WAS
Capitals' Pierre-Luc Dubois: Remains out Wednesday
Dubois (illness) will miss Wednesday's game against Montreal, per Sammi Silber of The Hockey News.
Dubois also missed Washington's past two games. He has a goal and four points in four outings this campaign. Ilya Protas has been serving on the top line while Dubois has been on the shelf.
-
Dominic James C | TB
Lightning's Dominic James: Recalled from AHL
James was called up from AHL Syracuse on Wednesday.
James has no points and two PIM in two outings with Syracuse in 2026-27. The 24-year-old logged 43 regular-season outings with Tampa Bay in 2025-26, recording seven goals, 15 points, eight PIM and 58 hits. If James draws into the lineup Thursday versus Seattle, then he's most likely to occupy a bottom-six role. However, Tampa Bay has 13 healthy forwards, including James, and the Lightning sometimes dress 11 forwards and seven defensemen, so there's no guarantee that James will be in the lineup.
-
Adam Edstrom C | NSH
Predators' Adam Edstrom: Nets shortie in loss
Edstrom scored a shorthanded goal, added four hits and blocked two shots in Tuesday's 5-2 loss to the Golden Knights.
Edstrom has three goals over the last three games, accounting for all of his offense this season. It's likely to be a short-term boost in scoring, as he remains firmly in a bottom-six role without a power-play spot. He's added 11 shots on net, 28 hits and seven blocked shots over six appearances this season. At 26 years old, Edstrom could still have a small breakout campaign, but don't expect a ton of fantasy value.
-
Brett Howden C | LV
Golden Knights' Brett Howden: Pair of points in win
Howden scored a goal on two shots, added an assist, logged two PIM and went plus-3 in Tuesday's 5-2 win over the Predators.
Howden helped out on Tomas Hertl's first-period tally before scoring one of his own in the third. The 28-year-old Howden has been a reliable middle-six forward to start the year, earning five points, 15 shots, nine hits and a plus-4 rating across eight contests. He was held to 22 points in 58 regular-season contests last year, but he should rebound a bit in 2026-27 if he can sustain this steady start.
