The Tigers have reinstated Andy Dirks from the disabled list and designated Don Kelly for assignment, the club announced via Twitter on Friday.

Dirks was having a breakout season before the injury, hitting .328/.379/.515 in his second season in the majors. The 26-year-old outfielder has 15 extra base-hits in 134 at-bats, including four home runs. 

Kelly has manned Detroit's bench since 2009, compiling a .234/.282/.353 line in his four years with the club. He is having the worst season of his career, hitting just .175/.267/.243.
