Robin Ventura

Add White Sox announcer Hawk Harrelson wasn't happy -- to say the least -- about Mark Wegner's ejection of Chicago rookie left-hander Jose Quintana in the fourth inning of Wednesday's game in Tampa Bay.

To set the scene, Rays starter Alex Cobb hit White Sox catcher A.J. Pierzynski in the third inning. Then in the fourth, Quintana's two-out pitch was behind the legs of Rays hitter Ben Zobrist and Quintana was immediately ejected. There had been no warnings issued, for the record.

Here's the video of Harrelson's call:

And here's the transcription:
"What are you doing? He threw him out of the ballgame? You gotta be bleepin' me! What in the hell are you doing? What are you doing, Wegner? You gotta be kiddin' me! That is so bad, that is absolutely brutal! That is unbelievable. I'll tell you what, they have got to start making guys be accountable. That is totally absurd. That just tells you -- here's an umpire in the American League that knows nothing about the game of baseball."
While I'm not a fan of Harrelson's particular homerific style of announcing, I'm not sure he's wrong here.

Chicago manager Robin Ventura was also ejected, marking his first career ejection as a manager.
