Allen, a 30-year-old first baseman, will now join the Reds' big league roster.     Allen signed a minor league contract with the Reds on Tuesday that includes an invite to spring training.

    While Allen has done some damage in parts of seven seasons at Triple-A, posting an .874 OPS and 109 homers, he's never played more than 52 games in any of his four major-league seasons. His last major-league appearance came in 2012, and he will likely serve merely as an organizational depth piece for the Reds if he sticks around beyond spring training.
