Scott Van Slyke: Takes talents to Korea
Van Slyke signed a one-year, $320,000 contract Monday with the Doosan Bears of the Korean Baseball Organization, Dan Kurtz of MyKBO.net reports.
The salary exceeds what Van Slyke would have received had he remained with the Marlins on a minor-league deal for the rest of the season, likely making it an easy decision for the 31-year-old to head overseas. Van Slyke has spent the entire 2018 campaign with the Marlins' Triple-A affiliate in New Orleans, slashing .248/.354/.467 across 161 plate appearances. If he's able to make an impact in Korea over the next couple of months, Van Slyke could net a larger deal in the KBO this winter or perhaps generate renewed interest from MLB teams.

Marlins' Scott Van Slyke: Inks NRI deal with Miami
Van Slyke signed a minor-league contract with the Marlins on Saturday which includes an invitation to spring training, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports.
Van Slyke played in 29 games with the Dodgers last season, but slashed an unimpressive .122/.250/.293 with two home runs and three RBI in 48 at-bats. His numbers at Triple-A Oklahoma City were slightly better, but don't provide much hope that the 31-year-old will see meaningful time at the major-league level.

Reds' Scott Van Slyke: Accepts assignment to Triple-A
Van Slyke accepted an outright move to Triple-A Louisville, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
After being traded to Cincinnati in the deal that sent Tony Cingrani to the Dodgers, Van Slyke was quickly designated for assignment. In 29 games at the big-league level with the Dodgers, he went 5-for-41 while playing primarily off the bench. With Cincinnati, he'll serve as depth in the outfield and doesn't figure to see much playing time even if he makes it to the 40-man roster this season.

Van Slyke was designated for assignment by the Reds on Wednesday.
With the team claiming right-hander Luke Farrell from the Dodgers, Van Slyke loses his place on the 40-man roster while being handed a DFA on Wednesday. Van Slyke was traded to the Reds along with minor-league catcher Hendrik Clementia for Tony Cingrani on Monday, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports.

Van Slyke was sent down just two days after being recalled, with Brandon McCarthy (knee) coming off the DL for his start during Saturday night's affair with the Royals. Throughout the course of the 2017 campaign, Van Slyke has garnered 48 plate appearances at the big-league level, hitting just .122/.250/.293 with two home runs and three RBI. He will continue to serve as organizational depth for the outfield while getting more at-bats in Oklahoma City.

Van Slyke was recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Thursday, MLB.com's Ken Gurnick reports.
He'll take Grant Dayton's roster spot after the left-hander was placed on the disabled with with neck soreness Thursday. Van Slyke has been down at Triple-A for nearly two months, having slashed .233/.346/.361 over 156 at-bats there. He'll add depth to the Los Angeles outfield, but this may not be a long stint for Van Slyke.

Van Slyke went 1-for-2 with a solo home run in Thursday's 10-7 loss to the Rockies.
The 30-year-old started what was a rather unlikely Dodgers comeback effort with a 435-foot shot to right center in the fifth, giving them the first run of the night. Just recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City on May 10, Van Slyke's stint with the big-league club may not be long, but he should particularly see some time versus southpaws, against which he owns a .360 wOBA and .213 ISO over five-plus major-league seasons.

Grabbing a start against left-hander Tyler Anderson, Van Slyke bashed a 2-2 offering into straight-away center field for his first homer of the season. Despite the big blast, the 30-year-old really only has appeal a streaming option in mixed leagues when the Dodgers face a southpaw, and even then, his .150 batting average on the season doesn't instill much confidence in anyone willing to take a chance on him.
