  • Reds' Drew Hayes: Designated for assignment

Hayes was designated for assignment by the Reds on Friday, C. Trent Rosecrans of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Days after losing his spot on the 25-man roster, Hayes has now been booted from the 40-man roster and replaced by outfielder Steve Selsky. Hayes was blasted for nine earned runs on 15 hits in 9.2 innings out of the Reds' bullpen earlier this year, and he's done little in his seven minor league seasons to suggest he'll ever be more than a fringe major leaguer.

  • Reds' Drew Hayes: Optioned to Triple-A on Monday

Hayes was optioned to Triple-A Louisville on Monday.

The Reds needed a roster spot to be freed up after they activated Billy Hamilton from the bereavement list, and after giving up an earned run in both appearances since being called up, Hayes was sent back to the minors. He seems to be on the short list for callups when bullpen help is needed, although he'll have to prove that his 8.38 ERA with the major league club is just a fluke if he wants to get many more chances with Cincinnati.

  • Reds' Drew Hayes: Recalled from Triple-A

Hayes was recalled from Triple-A Louisville on Saturday.

Hayes will take the spot of the struggling J.J. Hoover, who was sent to Louisville on Saturday afternoon. He has appeared in four games for the Reds this season, allowing 10 hits - including three home runs - and seven earned runs in 8.1 innings.

  • Reds' Drew Hayes: Optioned to Triple-A on Tuesday

Hayes was optioned to Triple-A Louisville on Tuesday.

The Reds needed to make room for Tuesday's starter John Lamb, and Hayes ended up being the casualty. Hayes has struggled during his time in the majors, as he's allowed seven earned runs and three home runs in a mere 8.1 innings pitched, which could hinder his ability to be called back up in the near future.

  • Reds' Drew Hayes: Optioned to minor league camp

Hayes was optioned to minor league camp, C. Trent Rosecrans of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Hayes had an outstanding spring, giving up just one earned run in 10 innings while striking out 13. He's never thrown an inning in the majors, but had a strong season in Triple-A Louisville last season, holding a 2.95 ERA in 43 appearances.
