White Sox's Travis Jankowski: Re-signs with South Siders
The White Sox re-signed Jankowski to a minor-league contract Wednesday.
Jankowski elected free agency Tuesday after passing through waivers unclaimed, but he's quickly re-signed with the South Siders on a minor-league pact. The veteran outfielder will report to Triple-A Charlotte for the time being.

Travis Jankowski: Enters free agency
Jankowski cleared waivers Tuesday and elected free agency.
The White Sox designated Jankowski for assignment Sunday after a 3-for-14 start in order to make room for Mike Tauchman's return from the IL. No other team was willing to give the 33-year-old Jankowski a spot on their 40-man roster, so he'll now enter the open market and attempt to latch on with another organization, likely on a minor-league deal.

White Sox's Travis Jankowski: Designated for assignment
The White Sox designated Jankowski for assignment Sunday.
The 33-year-old made Chicago's Opening Day roster but won't end up sticking around long with Mike Tauchman (hamstring) returning from the injured list Sunday. Jankowski went 3-for-14 with no extra-base hits in seven games.

White Sox's Travis Jankowski: Officially added to roster
The White Sox selected Jankowski's contract Thursday.
Despite not joining the White Sox until mid-March after the Cubs granted him his release earlier in spring training, Jankowski was able to secure an outfield job with the South Siders. Unless the White Sox commit to right-handed hitters Austin Slater and Michael Taylor as full-time starters in the outfield while Mike Tauchman (hamstring) is on the injured list to begin the season, the lefty-hitting Jankowski could be a candidate to handle a large-side platoon role in the early going.

White Sox's Travis Jankowski: Lands roster spot
The White Sox informed Jankowski on Wednesday that he'll be included on the Opening Day roster, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.
Jankowski didn't sign with the White Sox until mid-March, but he made enough of an impression during his brief time in camp to clinch a roster spot. The veteran outfielder could see some starts against right-handed pitching if Mike Tauchman (hamstring) needs to miss time to begin the season.

White Sox's Travis Jankowski: Finds new opportunity
Jankowski signed Wednesday with the White Sox on a minor-league contract that includes an invitation to spring training.
After the Cubs reassigned him to minor-league camp Sunday, Jankowski presumably asked for his release from the organization and had that request granted, allowing him to quickly find work with the White Sox. Though he didn't come especially close to winning a reserve role on the Cubs' Opening Day roster, Jankowski should have better odds of breaking camp with a White Sox squad that could be down two outfielders in Andrew Benintendi (hand) and Austin Slater (oblique) when the season begins. As a member of the Rangers last season, Jankowski slashed .200/.266/.242 and contributed one home run and 11 stolen bases over 207 plate appearances.

Cubs' Travis Jankowski: Sent to minors camp
The Cubs reassigned Jankowski to minor-league camp Sunday, Maddie Lee of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Jankowski was part of the Cubs' latest round of cuts as the team looks to trim its travel roster to 31 in advance of the two-game, season-opening series in Tokyo versus the Dodgers that begins March 18. The veteran outfielder attended big-league camp as a non-roster invitee after slashing .200/.266/.242 over 207 plate appearances in the majors with the Rangers in 2024. Jankowski is tentatively slated to open the season at Triple-A Iowa, though the Cubs could grant the 33-year-old a release from his minor-league contract if he requests it.

Cubs' Travis Jankowski: Finds work in Windy City
Jankowski signed a minor-league contract with the Cubs on Friday that includes an invitation to spring training, Ari Alexander of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Jankowski slashed just .200/.266/.242 with 12 RBI over 207 plate appearances last season with the Rangers. The 33-year-old outfielder has never been regarded as an offensive threat with a career .624 OPS and he'll most likely serve as organizational depth at Triple-A Iowa.
