Athletics' Patrick Schuster: Signs with A's
Schuster signed a minor-league contract with the A's last week and was assigned to Triple-A Nashville.
Schuster returns to Oakland's organization after being released by the Dodgers earlier this month. Through 17 relief appearances with Triple-A Oklahoma City this season, the lefty has compiled an unimpressive 6.16 ERA and .325 BAA, making him a long shot to earn a call-up this season. Schuster pitched in five games for the A's last season, allowing eight earned runs over 6.2 innings.

Patrick Schuster: Released by Dodgers
Schuster was released by the Dodgers on Thursday, Eric Stephen of TrueBlueLA.com reports.
The Dodgers decided to cut ties with Schuster after he compiled a 6.16 ERA and 1.68 WHIP through 19 innings with Triple-A Oklahoma City. The 26-year-old saw some time in the majors last season, but his massive struggles (18.69 ERA and 8:10 K:BB through 8.2 innings) will likely ensure that he is nothing more than an organizational depth piece if he is able to catch on elsewhere.

Dodgers' Patrick Schuster: Joins Dodgers on minor league deal
Schuster signed a minor league contract with the Dodgers on Saturday.
After seven seasons in the minor leagues, Schuster finally broke through to the majors in 2016, making 11 appearances between Oakland and Philadelphia. The results left a lot to be desired (18 earned runs in 8.2 innings), but Schuster posted a 1.21 ERA and 9.3 K/9 at the Triple-A level and will provide the Dodgers with quality organizational depth at the very least.

Schuster was outrighted off the Phillies' roster last week. He had an 18.69 ERA in 8.2 innings between Oakland and Philadelphia this season, but was much better in the minors. He shouldn't have a problem finding an opportunity with another club this offseason.

Schuster was outrighted to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Friday.
Schuster was excellent as a reliever in the minors, but he simply couldn't get things going in the majors. The left-hander is only 25 years old, so he could garner some consideration in the future if the Phillies need a left-hander out of the bullpen, but he'll act as organizational depth for the time being.

Phillies' Patrick Schuster: Recalled from Triple-A
Schuster was recalled from Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Friday.
He was claimed off waivers by the Phillies in August after the A's designated him for assignment. Since joining his new organization, he somehow posted a 1.50 ERA with a 7:6 K:BB in six innings of relief with Lehigh Valley. Those control issues were evident when he was in the big leagues with the A's earlier this year, and he should only be used in low-leverage spots over the final month with the Phillies.

Phillies' Patrick Schuster: Claimed by Phililes
The Phillies claimed Schuster off waivers from the Athletics and optioned him to Triple-A Lehigh Valley, Matt Gelb of the Philly Inquirer reports.
Schuster was having a fantastic season previously at Triple-A with Nashville, posting a 1.16 ERA with a 1.01 WHIP in 38.2 innings. The 25-year-old struggled in his short stint in Oakland before being designated for assignment on Wednesday. Expect to see Schuster up with the big league club in Philadelphia when rosters expand in September.

Schuster was designated for assignment by the A's on Wednesday, John Hickey of the Bay Area News Group reports.
Schuster was DFA'd after being recalled by the club Saturday. He only made one appearance with Oakland during his time up, pitching two scoreless innings with two strikeouts and three walks allowed against the Cubs on Saturday. The A's brought up Ross Detwiler in a corresponding move Wednesday.

He faired much better with Nashville, posting a 1.16 ERA with a 1.01 WHIP in 38.2 innings. In a corresponding move, the club optioned Dillon Overton to Nashville.

Schuster was optioned to Triple-A Nashville on Thursday.
Schuster had only appeared in four games for the A's since his contract was purchased by the team earlier this month. He gave up eight earned runs during 4.2 innings on the mound, allowing nine hits and three walks to four strikeouts. Schuster had been doing much better with Nasville this season before going to Oakland, touting a 1.30 ERA with 37 strikeouts in 34.2 innings.

Athletics' Patrick Schuster: Promoted to big leagues
Schuster had his contract purchased from Triple-A Nashville on Monday.
The Athletics opened up the 40-man roster spot for Schuster by transferring Andrew Lambo to the 60-day DL. The 25-year-old, who has yet to make his debut at the MLB level, produced a shiny 1.30 ERA across 34.2 innings at Triple-A. He'll work in a setup role for the Athletics, but shouldn't be expected to see much usage in high-leverage scenarios.
