• Rangers' Tyler Alexander: Earns second save

  Alexander earned the save in Monday's 5-2 win over the Orioles, tossing a clean ninth inning while striking out two. Alexander has converted both of the chances he's had for saves early on in the season. Normal closer Robert Garcia had pitched two days in a row entering Monday, so the 31-year-old was called upon to record the last three outs in the ninth and was razor sharp, striking out two batters in a three up, three down ninth. Alexander probably isn't putting Garcia's role in any danger yet, but it is a situation worth monitoring moving forward should he continue to pitch well.

• Rangers' Tyler Alexander: Secures save Saturday

  Alexander earned a save after tossing one inning, allowing an unearned run on one hit and a hit-by-pitch while striking out a batter in Saturday's 5-4 extra-inning win over the Phillies. Alexander was the next man up after Texas turned to Robert Garcia and Chris Martin in the ninth inning. Alexander hit Otto Kemp with an 84.8-mph cutter to open the frame before later surrendering a two-out single to Bryce Harper, which drove in the automatic runner from second base. The southpaw was then able to settle in and strand Kemp at third base to end the game by getting Alec Bohm to pop up for the final out. Alexander isn't necessarily in the mix quite yet for the closer's role, but he is the first Ranger to notch a save in 2026.

• White Sox's Tyler Alexander: Collects win in bullpen game

  Alexander (5-13) picked up the win in Monday's game against Minnesota, allowing one run on two hits and no walks with one strikeout. The 31-year-old southpaw was credited with the victory after the White Sox scored two runs in the eighth to take the lead. Alexander didn't have his sharpest outing himself, yielding a run on a Brooks Lee single in the seventh. The Chicago lefty continues to pitch in long relief and is not worthy of fantasy consideration due to a 4.85 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 74:28 K:BB across 89 total frames.

  Alexander allowed two hits and one walk while striking out five across 4.1 scoreless innings against the White Sox on Monday. He did not factor into the decision. Alexander followed Elvis Peguero into the game and was especially effective as a bulk reliever. He generated 15 called strikes on 65 total pitches, allowing him to work from ahead in the count in most at-bats. Alexander has flipped between a starting workload and a more traditional relief role but has maintained an impressive 2.59 ERA acorss 17 appearances and 41.2 innings since joining the White Sox on June 8.

• White Sox's Tyler Alexander: Likely set for bulk relief Monday

  Alexander is expected to pitch in bulk relief behind opening pitcher Elvis Peguero in Monday's game against the Tigers, Jack Ankony of SI.com reports. Alexander made a 3.1-inning start versus the Phillies on July 30, but his last two appearances have come out of the Chicago bullpen. In his most recent outing last Wednesday against the Mariners, Alexander shined in long relief behind starter Jonathan Cannon, striking out five batters while allowing just two baserunners over 4.1 scoreless frames and 67 pitches. With Cannon having since been demoted to Triple-A Charlotte, Alexander will essentially be taking his spot in the rotation Monday, as Peguero is expected to work just one or two innings before Alexander likely steps in and covers multiple frames out of the bullpen.

  The White Sox signed Alexander to a one-year, $760,000 contract Sunday. Alexander was DFA'd by Milwaukee last Sunday and elected free agency after clearing waivers. He struggled during his tenure with the Brewers, posting a 6.19 ERA, 1.49 WHIP and 30:12 K:BB over 36.1 innings while picking up a hold, a save and a 3-5 record. Alexander can serve in a swingman role, as he made four starts earlier this season, including a start against Cincinnati on April 4 during which he tossed 5.2 hitless innings. In corresponding roster moves Sunday, Jared Shuster landed on the 15-day IL due to a blister, and Fraser Ellard was transferred to the 60-day injured list.

  Alexander struck out five and allowed one hit and no walks over three scoreless innings in relief en route to earning a save in Sunday's 14-1 win over the Athletics. After allowing eight runs (four earned) in his previous appearance as a starter in an April 14 loss to the Tigers, Alexander shifted to the bullpen and gave up his spot in the rotation to rookie Logan Henderson. Henderson dazzled in his MLB debut and picked up the win after the limiting the Athletics to one run while striking out nine over six innings, but Alexander finished out the contest in efficient fashion, needing just 42 pitches to retire nine of the 10 batters he faced. The save was the first of Alexander's seven-year MLB career, but the veteran lefty is likely to be used mainly in lower-leverage spots moving forward.

  Alexander (1-1) took the loss Monday against the Tigers after giving up eight runs (four earned) on six hits and three walks in four innings. He struck out two. Alexander threw just one clean inning Monday, but his throwing error in the fourth inning at least resulted in each of Detroit's four runs scored in the frame to go unearned in the box score. Although the error also prevented his ERA from ballooning to a much higher figure, Alexander still holds a 4.32 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and a troublesome 14:10 K:BB over 16.2 innings (three starts) to begin the season. A banged-up Brewers pitching staff should keep the left-hander in the rotation for at least one more turn, and Alexander is tentatively scheduled to take the mound against the Athletics this weekend.

Alexander was handed a 5-0 lead through three frames, but he wasn't able to go deep enough to qualify for the victory. The southpaw didn't allow Colorado to catch up, though he yielded constant traffic on the basepaths -- the Rockies put multiple runners on base in each of the four frames in which Alexander pitched. After impressing with 5.2 scoreless innings his previous trip to the mound, this was a bit of a disappointing step back for Alexander, though it was far from a disastrous outing since Milwaukee ended up winning in a 17-2 rout. There's a good chance Alexander will stick in the rotation, at least in the short term, given the Brewers have already been decimated by injuries to starting pitchers.

Pressed into starting duty for Milwaukee's injury-ravaged pitching staff, Alexander baffled Cincinnati hitters over 83 pitches (50 strikes) as he fell just shy of recording his first quality start since May 17 of last season. The veteran lefty likely earned himself another turn or two through the rotation with this performance, but his reward for Friday's effort is that he lines up for a road outing at Coors Field next week. Through nine innings to begin the season, Alexander sports a 2.00 ERA and 9:5 K:BB.
