Reds' Shane Carle: Joining Cincinnati for camp
Carle signed a minor-league deal which includes an invitation to major-league camp with the Reds on Thursday.
In Carle's lone full big-league season, he looked quite good, posting a 2.86 ERA in 63 frames for Atlanta in 2018. He threw just 9.1 innings and gave up 10 runs the next year, however, and he failed to make a team's 40-man roster last season, so it's not clear he has it in him to repeat that performance. Still, the risk here for the Reds to find out whether or not he can is very low.

The Rangers released Carle on Monday, Levi Weaver of The Athletic reports.
Though Carle made six MLB appearances with the Braves in 2019, his poor results with the big club and subsequent struggles at the Triple-A level resulted in him entering 2020 without an invite to big-league spring training. Carle was still expected to claim a spot in the Triple-A Nashville bullpen, but his release now results him heading back on the open market.

Braves' Shane Carle: Records first save of season
Carle worked around a pair of walks in a scoreless inning of work to earn his first save of the season Sunday against the Phillies.
Carle entered with a one-run lead in the ninth and made things interesting before closing out the game. He walked two batters and hit another to load the bases, but he retired Wilson Ramos to end the threat. Carle got the nod to close despite the fact that Arodys Vizcaino and A.J. Minter were both available, but there's nothing to suggest he's a lock to receive the next save opportunity for the club.
