Drew Weeks: Released by Diamondbacks
Weeks (shoulder) was let go by Arizona on Friday, Andersen Pickard of MLBDailyDish.com reports.
It's been a rough week for Weeks, who underwent season-ending surgery Monday. The Diamondbacks, who had him in camp as merely a non-roster invitee, didn't feel the need to pay him while he recovers. He'll look for work next spring but will be heading into his age-29 season having yet to make his MLB debut.

Diamondbacks' Drew Weeks: Undergoes season-ending surgery
Weeks will miss the entirety of the 2021 season after undergoing season-ending shoulder surgery Monday, Zach Buchanan of The Athletic reports.
Weeks was merely in camp as a non-roster invitee, so he was a long shot to make the team even if healthy. He'll try to bounce back and earn a spot next spring, but at that point he'll be heading into his age-29 season without any big-league experience under his belt.

Diamondbacks' Drew Weeks: Signs with Arizona
Weeks signed a minor-league contract with the Diamondbacks on Monday, Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic reports.
Weeks is heading into his age-28 season and is yet to make his big-league debut, so he's unlikely to make a significant impact this season. His .280/.346/.517 career line in 174 career Triple-A games is strong, though it's worse than it looks when considering he called hitter-friendly Albuquerque home.
