  • Angels' Werner Blakely: Healthy again at High-A

Blakely (undisclosed) has gone 4-for-29 with a 2:17 BB:K and a stolen base in eight games for High-A Tri-City since being reinstated from the 7-day injured list May 6.

After missing the first month of the season due to the unspecified injury, Blakely is seemingly healthy again, though it hasn't been apparent in his production at the plate. Though the 21-year-old has struggled to make consistent contact at both of his previous two stops in the minors, the 53.1 percent strikeout rate he's sporting through his first eight games of the season is elevated even by his standard. So long as he's not dealing with any physical setbacks, Blakely should get the chance to play regularly for Tri-City with the hope that he eventually busts out of the slump.

  • Angels' Werner Blakely: Delayed to start season

Blakely will be sidelined until at least May with an undisclosed injury, Jonathan Mayo of MLB.com reports.

As Mayo notes, the toolsy 21-year-old infielder was limited to 55 games at Single-A last year due to hamstring and hand injuries, so perhaps it's a re-aggravation of one of those injuries or something new. Blakely is expected to open the year at High-A Tri-City once healthy.

  • Angels' Werner Blakely: Comes off IL

Blakely (undisclosed) returned from Single-A Inland Empire's 7-day injured list Wednesday and has gone 1-for-11 with two RBI and a run in his first three games back in action.

Blakely has gotten off to a rough start since being activated after an absence of nearly two months, as he's struck out eight times through his first 11 plate appearances. For the season, the 20-year-old infielder is slashing .293/.448/.452 with 19 stolen bases over 48 games in the California League.

  • Angels' Werner Blakely: Sidelined with injury at Single-A

Blakely was placed on Single-A Inland Empire's 7-day injured list Aug. 5 due to an unspecified injury.

Blakely had likely been dealing with the injury for a few weeks before he was officially deactivated, as he last appeared in a game for Inland Empire on July 7. The nature of Blakely's injury remains unclear, and it's uncertain if he'll be able to make his return from the IL before Inland Empire's season concludes in September. Prior to landing on the shelf, the 20-year-old shortstop slashed .308/.469/.479 with 19 stolen bases in 45 games at the Single-A level.

Blakely (hamstring) has gone 5-for-13 with a double, seven walks, four RBI, three runs and two stolen bases in six games for Single-A Inland Empire since being activated from the 7-day injured list May 31.

Blakely was sidelined for approximately five weeks due to a hamstring injury. For the season, the 20-year-old infielder is slashing .333/.494/.517 with six extra-base hits, eight stolen bases and an 18:18 BB:K in 81 plate appearances.

  • Angels' Werner Blakely: Out with hamstring strain

Blakely is on the 7-day injured list at Single-A Inland Empire with a hamstring strain, Mike DiGiovanna of Baseball America reports.

He last played April 23 and was off to a great start prior to suffering the injury. The athletic infielder is hitting .319/.450/.532 with two home runs, six steals and a 16:11 K:BB in 47 at-bats.
