    Miller allowed a run on one hit and struck out two over one inning to earn the save in Thursday's 4-2 win over the Dodgers.

    Miller gave up an RBI double to Shohei Ohtani but was able to preserve the Padres' lead. Miller has given up just 13 runs all season (10 earned), but he's allowed six runs (five earned) over his last 13.2 innings dating back to Aug. 25. The star closer has a 1.30 ERA, 0.84 WHIP and 127:24 K:BB through 69 innings while converting 38 of 41 save chances, but he's not in the best form as the Padres look to lock up a playoff spot.

  • Padres' Mason Miller: Takes third blown save

    Miller allowed one run on one hit and struck out four without walking a batter over 1.2 innings, taking a blown save in Saturday's 7-6 extra-inning win over the Marlins.

    Miller worked out of a problem created by Adrian Morejon in the eighth inning, but Griffin Conine took the Padres' closer deep for a game-tying solo shot during the ninth. After a blown save to end August, Miller had converted all five of his save chances in September prior to Saturday, which was his first appearance in five days. He's still at an elite 1.23 ERA, 0.85 WHIP and 123:23 K:BB through 66 innings while converting 37 of 40 save chances this year.

    Miller picked up the save Monday against Colorado. He allowed a hit and no walks while striking out two over a scoreless inning.

    Entering with a one-run cushion, Miller shook off a one-out single to secure his 37th save of the season. The hard-throwing right-hander has been lights out in September, posting a 15:3 K:BB and five saves without an earned run allowed across seven innings (six appearances) this month. It's been a dominant first full campaign in San Diego for Miller, who owns a 1.12 ERA, 0.85 WHIP and 119:23 K:BB in 64.1 frames.

    Miller struck out two in a perfect ninth inning Saturday to record his 36th save of the season in a 7-6 win over the Giants.

    The right-hander had a little difficulty controlling his triple-digit heat, going to full counts against two batters and throwing 17 pitches (nine strikes) in total, but Miller prevented things from getting out of hand. Since the beginning of August, Miller has delivered a 2.04 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 32:8 K:BB over 17.2 innings while converting eight of 10 save chances, bringing him up to 26 saves on the year.

    Miller loaded the bases but escaped the jam unscathed to earn the save. He's been dominant for much of the year, but he's allowed four runs (three earned) on seven hits and four walks over his last eight innings. Miller is at a 1.16 ERA, 0.87 WHIP and 115:23 K:BB with 35 saves in 37 chances over 62.1 innings this year.

However, the All-Star closer followed the hit by striking out CJ Abrams before getting Brady House to ground out. Miller finished August in uncharacteristic fashion by allowing three runs while serving up two homers across two innings over his final two appearances, but he's rebounded by beginning September with three scoreless appearances during which he's posted a 9:1 K:BB across four frames. Miller is up to 34 saves on the season, fourth most in the majors.

    Miller had a two-run lead to work with when he entered in the ninth inning, and he quickly brought the tying run to the plate when he hit the first batter of the frame (Christian Walker). The All-Star closer moved Walker to second with a wild pitch and surrendered a two-out RBI single to Yandy Diaz but retired LaMonte Wade on a groundout to finish off the save. The earned run Miller gave up ended a 12-outing scoreless stretch and is just his fifth allowed run of the campaign through 49.1 frames, resulting in a sterling 0.91 ERA. He's converted 29 of 30 save opportunities and has registered a dominant 91:16 K:BB.
