Phillies' Griff McGarry: Earns camp invite
McGarry will join the Phillies' major-league camp this spring.
McGarry is the third member of a group of young righties knocking on the door for the Phillies, though his stock isn't as high as that of Andrew Painter or Mick Abel. McGarry's best chance of making an impact at the big-league level this season may come as a reliever, though the Phillies could prefer to keep him in the minors in an effort to improve his control to the point that he can start. His 37.3 percent strikeout rate in 111.2 professional innings is excellent, but his 14.4 percent walk rate is far too high.

Phillies' Griff McGarry: Advances to Triple-A
The Phillies promoted McGarry from Double-A Reading to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Monday, Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
McGarry, a fifth-round selection in the 2021 First-Year Player Draft, is being developed as a starter, but he recently transitioned into a bullpen role at Reading in anticipation of potentially making his big-league debut later in September or early October as a reliever. Before Philadelphia entertains the idea of him making his MLB debut in 2022, the organization will first see how McGarry during his first taste of Triple-A. He concludes his time at Reading with a 2.20 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 39:20 K:BB over 32.2 innings.

Phillies' Griff McGarry: Back in action at Double-A
McGarry (finger) struck out four over six scoreless innings in his return from Double-A Reading's 7-day injured list Saturday. He scattered two hits, one walk and a hit batsmen in the 65-pitch start.
McGarry was sharp in his first start for Reading since July 6 after he had been shut down shortly before the All-Star break due to a blister. The 23-year-old righty received his promotion to Double-A earlier this month after turning in a 3.86 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 82:24 K:BB across 46.2 innings at High-A Jersey Shore to begin the season.

McGarry was placed on the 7-day injured list at Double-A Reading on Friday due to a blister, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.
McGarry was promoted to the Double-A level last weekend, but his start in Reading on Wednesday lasted just 2.1 innings due to his blister. He'll be forced to miss at least a week before returning to action.

Phillies' Griff McGarry: Promoted to Double-A
McGarry was promoted from High-A Jersey Shore to Double-A Reading on Saturday, Jim Salisbury of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.
A fifth-round pick last year, McGarry has been able to rise up the minor-league ladder rather quickly. The strikeouts have carried over from his collegiate career at the University of Virginia (82 strikeouts in 46.2 innings at High-A this season). The walks have carried over too, unfortunately, but the strikeout upside gives McGarry a bit of intrigue even if he is already 23 years old.
