Giants' Vaun Brown: Healthy for camp
Brown (undisclosed), who didn't appear in any minor-league games after Aug. 2 last season, is a "full go" for spring training, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
The 25-year-old Brown remains a prospect of some repute, but his stock seems to have fallen after injuries limited him to just 59 games in the minors during the 2023 season. After attending Giants camp as a non-roster invitee in 2023, Brown wasn't extended the same invitation in 2024, as the organization seemingly wants the outfielder to get extended reps in at minor-league camp following the injury-plagued campaign. Brown is expected to open the 2024 season at Double-A Richmond or Triple-A Sacramento.

Giants' Vaun Brown: Returns to IL
Double-A Richmond placed Brown on its 7-day injured list Friday with an unspecified injury.
Brown is on the IL for the second time this season, after Richmond previously deactivated him for the first six weeks of the campaign while he recovered from knee surgery. It's unclear if he's dealing with a knee-related issue this time around or something else, and a timeline for his return from the IL is uncertain. The 25-year-old outfielder is slashing .221/.284/.421 with eight home runs and 15 stolen bases across 208 plate appearances with Richmond this season.

Giants' Vaun Brown: Active at Double-A
Brown (knee) was activated from the 7-day injured list Tuesday for Double-A Richmond.
He hit .351 with a home run and five steals in nine games during a rehab assignment. Brown excelled as an older outfielder in the lower levels of the minors last season, and given that he turns 25 in June, he is still old for his current level. His average or better power and 70-grade speed make Brown one to hold in dynasty leagues.

Giants' Vaun Brown: Shifts rehab to High-A
Brown (knee), who remains on Double-A Richmond's 7-day injured list, shifted his rehab assignment from Single-A San Jose to High-A Eugene on May 5 and has gone 6-for-20 with a home run and two stolen bases in his first five games with the latter affiliate.
Brown was placed on the IL coming out of spring training after he underwent minor right knee surgery in March, but he's now gotten nine games under his belt between San Jose and Eugene and should be on the cusp of debuting for Richmond. The 24-year-old outfielder is widely regarded as one of the top position prospects in the Giants' farm system.

Giants' Vaun Brown: Back in action at Double-A
Brown (knee) went 5-for-10 with two stolen bases and two runs scored in his first two games for Double-A Richmond after being activated from the affiliate's 7-day injured list Friday.
Brown missed the first three weeks of the minor-league season while he completed his recovery from the minor right knee surgery he required in March. The 24-year-old's ability to play center field in both of his first two games in addition to making an impact on the bases suggests his knee won't be much of a concern moving forward.

Giants' Vaun Brown: Recovering from knee surgery
Double-A Richmond placed Brown on its 7-day injured list Thursday while he recovers from minor right knee surgery, Jim Callis of MLB.com reports.
He was diagnosed with left patellar tendinitis in early March and it was subsequently reported that he would miss about a week, but Callis is reporting that Brown needed minor surgery on his other knee. Either way, it sounds like Brown will return at some point this season for the Flying Squirrels, but this setback could impact his ability to push for a big-league debut in 2023.

Brown (knee) said Friday that he should be able to return to spring games in about a week, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Brown was scratched from the Giants' Cactus League lineup this past Tuesday due to left patellar tendinitis and will require a bit more rest and treatment. Assuming he does indeed get back on the field in short order, the 24-year-old outfielder seems likely to be ready for the start of the minor-league season. He was sent out of major-league camp Friday afternoon as part of the Giants' second round of cuts.

Brown has been diagnosed with left patellar tendinitis, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.
Brown was scratched from the Giants' Cactus League lineup Tuesday because of soreness in his left knee and will need at least a couple more days off for rest and treatment. He is expected to begin his 2023 season at Double-A Richmond.

Grant McCray will instead get the start in center field against the Reds. There's no indication that this is a serious issue for Brown, who had an incredible showing in the lower minors last season. He should be ticketed for Double-A Richmond to begin the 2023 campaign.
