Carroll served as the 29th man Friday against the Nationals as the teams completed a previously suspended game before their regularly scheduled one, but he struggled mightily in relief. He allowed six runs on six hits and one walk while striking out two over 1.2 innings. He'll head back to alternate camp, and the team could use caution before bringing him up again given his lack of results Friday.

Orioles' Cody Carroll: Healthy again
Carroll (back) said Wednesday that he's made a full recovery from the microdiscectomy surgery he required last summer, Joe Trezza of MLB.com reports.
Carroll was plagued by lower-back problems coming out of spring training in 2019 and missed most of the season after he had a piece of a disk shaved off to address his ongoing discomfort. The right-hander was able to make one rehab start for the Orioles' rookie-level Gulf Coast League affiliate before heading to the Arizona Fall League for eight more appearances, avoiding any further setbacks along the way. With his health now intact, Carroll will look to win a relief job with the big club this spring.

The severity of the injury remains unclear at this time, but Carroll is not expected to miss significant time. Carroll was called up from Triple-A Norfolk on Tuesday, Eduardo A. Encina of the Baltimore Sun reports.
Carroll is set to make his major-league debut after joining the Orioles' organization last week. Across 43.2 innings at the Triple-A level this year, he's logged a 2.47 ERA and 1.05 WHIP with opposing batters hitting just .182 against him. Look for Carroll to be utilized in low-leverage spots while he's with the team.

Carroll, Josh Rogers and Dillon Tate were traded from the Yankees to the Orioles in exchange for Zach Britton on Tuesday.
Carroll had a quality 2.38 ERA and 1.08 WHIP across 41.2 innings out of Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre's bullpen this season, registering a 55:18 K:BB and .184 opponent batting average. The hard-throwing right-hander will start out with Triple-A Norfolk in his new organization, but it wouldn't be surprising to see him called up to the Orioles if he can illustrate better control of his secondary pitches.
